Just a question to all lfc fans realistically who would you like to sign instead of van dyke? Either for the 60-70m banded about or a cheaper option. Only players that are available not unrealistic targets.

Manolas, Gibson, Batth, Colley, Koulibaly etc.
I do not buy the whole "there isn't anyone else" argument. Van Dijk is not world class, in fact he isn't even top class. He is just a good player who needs to sort out his positional discipline.
There are far cheaper option. Koulibaly, Colley and Manolas are all perfect for our system. They are quick, strong, good in the air and can play in a high line.
Gibson and Batth are less suited to our style than the other 3, but they are proper leaders at the back. Captain material so to speak.
All 5 of those guys would be attainable if we stumped up the asking price.

He needs to be given one chance with all things Coutinho did and everybody is fine with integrating him if he ends up staying.
Sort out Ward and send him on loan.

Malang Sarr isn't that good in the air and being that he's barely 6ft you can see him being dominated quite easily.
Gibson is poor in the air, positional sense isn't that great and isn't particularly strong for a centre back. I don't buy into this thing about him being a great organiser, Boro played with ten men behind the ball, that doesn't take much organising.
Koulibaly is a bit lumpen for my liking. Looks awkward on the pitch, good in the air though and strong as an ox, but he's clumsy and has that air of a Djimi Traore about him.
Can't say much about Colley as I've not seen much of him.
Batth? I'm assuming you mean the lad at Wolves? Not good enough for a club with champions league ambitions.
Manolas is a hard case, has a reputation but so what? We don't want a shrinking violet. He's really good in the air, is aggressive and is decent on the ball.

hailstones, Gibson, Evans, Jones, Smalling, Keane, Maguire and Cahill are all terrible players, wouldn't want them at all. And being English shouldn't be a reason for buying a player.

If VVD is definitely off the agenda then we should go for Manolas. Roma are willing to sell and the price isn't unreasonable compared to the £75m we'd lash out on VVD. Plus he's experienced, quick, dominant, aggressive and a leader.

It's hard to be optimistic about our chances this season while no real change has been made. The difference this season is we have more games to play with a squad that started well last season but struggled as the season went on. We take coutinho out of the team on top of that and I'm struggling to see how we would cope with the pressure of extra games. We need to strengthen and soon.

Pathetic by our club. The competition has moved on massively and we could not win anything last year and just held on to fourth. Just look on here the last month, all about VVD and keita which ed02 has consistently said won't happen and then about holding on to pipco? We still have no DM and our CB options are a disgrace. Beginning to think the ones we chased are a front and never realistic. Anyone that watched the utd game today can see what investment does. We would not live with that power, to big and athletic and we can not defend.

We want to be fighting for the Premier league and be back where we belong up there with the world's elite playing in the best competitions, we aren't going to get back there if we keep selling our best players.

Did Barcelona ACTUALLY "sell" Neymar mikey? I think you'll find that Barcelona were taken out of this equation as Neymar bought himself out of his contract. Barcelona had absolutely zero say in this.

I'm sorry but this game is showing exactly why we need a new leading CB to partner Matip, to sell moreno and a new CM. This surely needs to be sorted before we enter the champions league and are playing some of the best teams in the world. If Watford can get through our leaky defence then we can't hold much hope against the world's elite.

To be fair we need a new CB but the FBs are as much a part of the problem. How many times have they gotten in behind and put dangerous balls into the box? We went cheap at LB, failed at CB and ignored RB. Can't be surprised at the result.
Should have started Milner and Gomez away from home and started with the first rule of not conceding. then hoping our front 3 can win the game with a moment of magic. Don't know why we tried to start with two such attacking FBs away to Watford who will clearly want to hit us on the break and in the air.
