Ed1, would you like to see Bielsa considered at all?

Lfchopefull2

{Ed001's Note - no. Great coach but he is not right for us or really for club football. He is much better in international football where there is no recruitment needed.}

1.) 28 Jan 2024 21:06:51
Bro's going to wake up one morning and get tha hell up out of Anfield just cos he has has a bee in his bonet about the club not doing something he wanted. Just ask the Marseille fans several years ago. Love the guy BUT nope, I'll pass.

2.) 28 Jan 2024 17:41:56
Ed1 how about inzaghi at inter.

{Ed001's Note - I can't really comment as I haven't seen enough of his teams.}

3.) 28 Jan 2024 19:17:32
Cheers ed. Would you credit him with improving Nunez, and if so would you say more than the club has improved him- or is that impossible to unpick?

{Ed001's Note - impossible to really pick out who has done what but what Bielsa has done is meshing very well with what the club are trying to do.}

4.) 29 Jan 2024 04:47:58
the athletic have a fascinating article on how Nunez is transforming his game. They give the credit to Bielsa on the whole but still it makes compelling reading.

Gutted, devastated even but also a little glad it never ended in acrimony or the fans wanting him gone. What a manager he is and has been for us, second only to Shankly for me. To pick up the club and drag it to where it is now, only missing out on more league titles by the smallest of margins, making 3 CL finals and of course winning is our first title for 30 years. There is no other manager that could have done that, the perfect man for the club and the perfect club for the man. And now, he doesn’t wait to become disenchanted or demotivated, he makes a decision that by his own admission he doesn’t want to take, but one that he knows is that right decision for everyone involved. There is no way that Jurgen doesn’t want to be Liverpool manager anymore, he simply can’t be the manager of Liverpool that he wants to be. So he leaves head held high, with us all ‘wanting more’. A man who fell in love with Liverpool and who Liverpool fell in love with. The best we could have ever hoped for, turning doubters into believers and making their dreams come true. An absolute legend and someone all of the premier league should be grateful to as no one else could have made the title race a competition against city. Let’s hope he goes out on a high and we get that title parade around the city the he deserves. Jurgen Norbert Klopp, I doff my cap. Thank you.

Lfchopefull2

{Ed025's Note - great post that Hopefull mate..

1.) 26 Jan 2024 19:15:09
Superb post. Exactly.

2.) 26 Jan 2024 19:38:31
Norbet? Never knew, just makes me love the man more. Great post mate, doubt anyone will say it better. I mean I’ll try of course ? I’m 46 and from Doncaster, my dad wasn’t really into football, so I never really got into football until I was a teenager. My whole motivation was John Barnes, it was the 90/ 91 season I started seriously being a Liverpool fan, I thought we’d win the title that year and hoped ( to varying degrees) every year after, we never did, I wondered if we ever would, then Jürgen Norbert ( ty) Klopp came along delivered something I’ve been wanting all my adult life for. God I’ll miss him.

3.) 26 Jan 2024 19:43:45
Spot on, OP. You could tell in his mannerisms thru the interview that he did nit want to say this BUT he had to cos well, he can't do this anymore. The pain in his voice and face was palpable, IMO.

I'll say it again. For him to say that he needed to find a new purpose and path in life. That stung and I started to fear for him on a mental level. That meant that he could not function outside of football cos this job takes a toll on everything outside of one's football life.

The Normal One turned us from doubters to believers in the most magical ride I have ever experienced in my last 30 years of supporting this great institution. He will be missed. But now, is the time to support him even more. It is now time to repay this great man for all he has done for us. Let's go WIN for Klopp. We owe him that, at least.

4.) 26 Jan 2024 20:04:45
Great post.
The Normal One takes his place with the other legends - Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish, Benitez and now Klopp.

The all won either the league title or the champions league/ European cup or both.

Delighted for Klopp, concerned for the club.
I’d love to see Xabi Alonso coming in but I worry he’s not ready. Guardiola’s first real job was Barcelona, Zidane = Madrid so who knows.

I feel the timing of the announcement is significant.
I feel the club have already finalised the new appointment having had 3 months to sort it out.

If it wasn’t sorted, they would announce it. Klopp is still an employee, he was told to wait and has now been given the green light.

5.) 26 Jan 2024 23:07:29
Great to see you Ken, hope the pants haven’t been washed.

6.) 26 Jan 2024 18:32:41
I couldn’t have put it better myself. The full ‘announcement’ interview on the LFC website tells you everything you need to know. The man put absolutely everything into managing the club and it simply takes it toll. His love for the club made him realise that now is the ideal time with the team and structure of the club in a great place. All the tools someone needs to take over and be successful. To leave before his energy levels dip too low and it starts to affect the team. It’s obvious the media had got wind of it and it was about to break hence the timing. What a legend of a man. Thank you Jurgen.

7.) 26 Jan 2024 19:02:21
Great Post that, Lfchopefull2. I've been saying for years to cherish what we have. let's cherish the next 5 months.

8.) 26 Jan 2024 19:11:10
Biggest concern for me will be whoever comes in next will have Klopps squad and no manager just takes another managers squad and is happy with that. The new manager will like want his own players as well which mean some of the current squad will likely leave

Also we have players who play for the love of the club and we also have players who clearly love playing for Klopp. 2 of those are due out of contract in 16 months time and with Trent also due out of contract and no manager in place will him renewing be straight forward.

9.) 26 Jan 2024 19:11:32
@lfchopefull2. Top top post.

10.) 26 Jan 2024 18:38:25
Thanks Ed. I’ve always l laughed at seeing grown men cry over football, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t have a little lump in my throat!

{Ed025's Note - i think it resonated with all fans that mate, its funny though because i never felt like that when Lampard left Everton.. :)

11.) 27 Jan 2024 22:50:56
Cheers fellas, just a shame to have to write it!

Question for ed1 if I may, I was wondering how you think Sarina Weigman would get on if she were to manage a men’s premier league team?

Lfchopefull2

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea, I know nothing about her.}

1.) 18 aug 2023 15:36:04
come sunday she will become only the second england manager in history to have a team play in the world cup final. hopefully keep the 100% winning record as well. to take charge of a team the way she has and turn them from also rans in to champions is an incredible achievement. there are few managers around, male or female that can claim to have had the impact on a team that she has had with england. we are blessed that one is our manager. and before the you can't compare her to kloop as womens football isn't as difficult comments flood in, yes i can compare her to klopp as the impact has been as great. people management and developing a team is an art weather male or female and weigman is a master of it.

2.) 18 Aug 2023 16:18:40
There is nothing stopping a woman taking charge of a man’s team but it’s going to be tough for them.
The problem with a lot of managers who haven’t played at the top level is having a much harder time to gain players respect, both consciously and unconsciously. That would be the same case for a woman manager I feel and I feel from watching women’s football it does feel a lot different from the men’s game, a lot more counter attacking with players seeming to have a bit more space and freedom, although I’m sure if she’s good enough she could adapt.

3.) 18 Aug 2023 17:51:06
I could never take orders from a woman. I'm not even going to watch that final.
Besides, I've a big pile of ironing to get through on Sunday morning.

4.) 18 Aug 2023 18:16:54
Cobracraig don't think Mourinho ever played at the top level nor Wenger but they seemed to get a lot of respect from their players. Won a few things as well.
I enjoy watching the woman's game no diving and rolling about they just get up and get on with it. Puts the mens histrionics to shame.

5.) 18 Aug 2023 19:00:36
Not entirely sure that paints you in a particular good light that Rigsby.

6.) 18 Aug 2023 19:01:38
I reckon she could do a men's international team but the club game is very different so it's hard to say if she'd even do well in the WSL.

You have to attract players to the club and then make them want to stay. That's not an issue in internationals as almost everyone wants to play for their country.

Then you have the squad management side of it. Don't have to worry about getting everyone gametime or over working players in internationals as you have them for about 2-7 games at a time and the only aim is to win. Players aren't as fussed if they don't play much at international level because they'll go back and play regular for their club anyway.

Then you have the training and pre-season side of things. At club level you have to work on so much more in terms of fitness and technical skills whereas as an international manager you can focus primarily on tactical stuff as it's safe to assume you've picked players working with good coaches at club level.

Then finally you have the financial aspect. You don't have to get involved in transfers or contracts as an international manager.

It's a totally different job and skillset.

7.) 18 Aug 2023 19:19:07
I think you're right, Wassa.
I shouldn't have left it all til Sunday morning but I wouldn't listen to the other half.
Anyway, there are more pressing issues than women's football and it's a big, bloody pressing issue.

8.) 18 Aug 2023 20:41:16
I must say I try to avoid the England’s men team as much as possible but I watch the England women’s team a lot more and even though the quality is not as good the whole experience is by far superior.
And am sure if they pulled some random person of the dole queue he could do better than the w**n** in the waistcoat.

9.) 18 Aug 2023 20:54:10
We’ll never know until it happens. And if she gets an opportunity and fails, it wouldn’t mean that it’s not possible.

The England team have been a good watch. Nice to have the World Cup in our backyard and see the people get behind it.

10.) 18 Aug 2023 21:21:54
Southgate has done well in international tournaments.

That’s my reference - he was garbage as a club manager.

11.) 18 Aug 2023 22:00:19
What is this nonsense, it's a Liverpool page, we don't care about England men or woman's game.

12.) 19 Aug 2023 06:51:20
Completely different sports, it's like thinking someone can do it good in basketball because they did good in cricket.

He did manage somewhere else didn’t he?, a Dutch team I think it was, I don’t think it went well. That’s not a criticism of him by the way.

To be fair to Klopp he only said a deal had been agreed with Brighton, but added we’re not interested in a deal we want the player. So I think he knew he was going to get asked about it and gave an honest answer, one which actually pretty much covered all the bases. If I was Klopp I would have steam coming out of my ears with the MC camp as there’s no way we would have bid without checking he was interested in the move.

Lfchopefull2

{Ed002's Note - This is pretty much business as usual - you are making a huge deal about a player opting for another club.}

I’ve never thought there to be corruption ed2, gross incompetence yes but not out right corruption. However, that statement that forest released has suggested corruption. Did Clattenburg have anything to do with that statement because if so what would lead him to make a thinly veiled suggestion of corruption by stating that they warned about the var being a Luton fan. What else can be interpreted from that particular line of the statement, and why on earth would a former ref suggest that the var would not be impartial, is it from past experience?

Lfchopefull2

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Forest suggesting anyone is paying off anyone to be corrupt. You seem to be struggling to understand the words you are using.}

There’s a Hawksmoor in Liverpool in the stunning India building. In Liverpool, if you’re a Beatles fan check out the casbah in west Derby where Pete Best’s mum used to live and the Beatles used to play, and while you’re in the area you can go and see Melwood, it’s about a 3 min drive away.
There’s great pubs like the roscoe head in town, proper little old place that does great beers. Peter kavanaghs is another good pub as is the Blackburn arms, you could do a little pub crawl. If you’re going to penny lane there’s a nice little restaurant called Spire just by it.
If you’ve got a bit of money you could go to the art school or if you’re really pushing the boat out you can go to Moor Hall. Maybe also head over to Chester for a day, nice little place, treat the mrs to afternoon tea in the Grosvenor and walk the Roman walls.
There’s tons to do, enjoy.
