If Salah were to go, I would have liked us to get Kudus from Ajax. He scored a great goal at Anfield recently that sticks in my memory. Who does everyone else think would be the ideal replacement if he goes (this season or next)?

He won’t go this season. Too early to pick a replacement for next season - the Saudis might have signed everybody by then anyway.

Guarantee there is a price that FSG will eventually say yes to without any consideration to what impact it would have on our season or getting a replacement. Remember they sold Torres on the 31st January 2011 after saying he wasn’t for sale. I can see FSG relenting if an offer close to £200m came in.
This is also different to selling Coutinho, Coutinho was a luxury player we could afford to sell without it impacting the team. Salah is a critical part of our play. 20+ goals and 10+ assists every season show that, also with Coutinho, we had a plan of how to use the money and what we were going to do. At this moment we look disorganised and incompetent and we’d either waste the money badly or not spend at all leaving us short, I’ve no confidence in our ability to adequately recruit after the debacles with Caicedo and Lavia.

OP, Kudus? Are you having a laugh? There are players within our own team that are better than him, let alone out there in Europe like Khavaratskhelia and Chiesa and that’s just off the top of my head.
As for Salah, the club have said he is not for sale, just like they said earlier in the season. And if Klopp still want him and he is not agitating for a move, he stays, imo.

We sold Torres days before the end of the January window and the bought Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez before the window shut.

Mate 50m would be nowhere near enough - his feet are so quick, he could find a yard of space inside a phone box that lad. He’s had really bad luck with injuries and as for ‘replacing Mane’, Mane was a world class player, able to play multiple positions and bag plenty of goals - we were so lucky to have him and he’s a legend, you can’t ‘replace’ him with another legend within 18 months.
Sorry, but I disagree on selling Diaz. For me he walks into our first 11.

I just wondered about the timescale of transfers like this with a clause that can expire. If Liverpool have said they will activate the clause, does that mean that we have to complete the transfer within a certain timeframe or can RBL reject our approach if we don’t complete it quickly enough?

I disagree on the tactics front (just my opinion, obviously) .
For the remaining 10 games of last season where we tried Trent in a more advanced role (a midfielder when we’ve got the ball, a RB when we haven’t) we ground out a really good run of results.
One stat that I don’t have to hand but it was something I was checking regularly throughout the season: if you take away our 9-0 and 7-0 freak scorelines against Bournemouth and United, we actually scored less than Leeds last season. I’d need to properly fact check this, but I’m sure that was the case before we changed tactics and nearly sneaked 4th place.
