If the rumours are true and Benzema is looking to leave the Saudi league (and apart from Neymar, who isn't! ) anyone else fancy seeing him in a red shirt for the rest of the season?

I know age isn't on his side, and his wages are likely insane, but it would be amazing having him up front with Salah for a few months!

That would be a shrewd little loan for 6 months for anyone but we should be looking at competition for salah, we don't have a left footed attacker except salah and elliot is better deeper.

Nope no thanks.

3.) 07 Jan 2024 23:05:36
No thank you. I would never want that scumbag near our club. Could care less what he can do on the pitch.

Henderson wants out too. Anyone take him back. lol no can't write that with a straight face.

As for Benzema, not sure. Quality player, but how much has 6 months of premature retirement impacted his game? Don't see it happening in any case.

And in addition, from a playing side he would make us weaker too. Too old and won't press. And too slow. I don't watch the Saudi league but I doubt he has improved with another year. The system would falter with him. An absolute no.

But mostly he is just a horrible human.

Seems like a Manchester United transfer that one. A proper graveyard acquisition
Stay clear of disasters like this and find another Szobo type signing.

Just realised after giving Hendo a load of flak for going to Saudi Arabia in the first place, I sort of just ignored it with Benzema there.

Yeah, Benzema can sod off too. Don't want any footballer who went there for a King's Ransom to have anything to do with the club ever again.

And yes, that includes Steven Gerrard.

What sort of person thinks we should sign Benzema? He’s a horrendous human being.

9.) 08 Jan 2024 01:16:41
Agreed SR, I wouldn't take anybody from there either. Luckily we're not that desperate.

10.) 08 Jan 2024 07:12:37
Benzene might be a good player but he is a world class ahole, I’d avoid him like the plague.

Interesting that some are open to having Benzema at the club yet laugh at the idea of a model professional and the most successful LFC captain in years returning all because he moved to a country with strict Islamic laws. People should probably have a read up on what Benzema likes to get up to in his spare time. oh, an he also happened to move to the same country.

Wait, what? No! All day, Every day and 30 times on Sun.

I don't want Benzema because he is a convicted criminal. He was judged guilty in blackmailing a fellow national team player (Valbuena) over some sex tapes involving Valbuena. A criminal does not get a free pass into the club I support, no matter what.

I don't want Gerrard as manager either. I agree fully that Gerrard is one of the club greats and will always will be. As a player. As a manager, he has shown himself to be not as gifted as a player and nothing beyond the ordinary. A great player does not get a free pass to manage the club I support, just because he was a great player.

Nothing about Saudi Arabia, for me. Nothing to do with it. Nothing in "strict Islamic laws" affects your performance as either a player or a manager. It's football. The rules of the game are identical everywhere in the World no matter how hard you try to turn it into something else. Nobody would have uttered a single word if Benzema, Henderson and Gerrard, and the entire lot of them, had gone to the MLS instead. Going to the MLS for money is okay, going to Saudi Arabia is not. Everyone is entitled to seek out and use opportunities for personal and family financial gain. And that's what they all did.

Totally agree that it was a demolition job of Chelsea, particularly first half.

I was lucky enough to be at the game, took my daughter to Anfield for the first time and she loved it (apart from one bit I will come on to) we should have been 8-0 up at half time the way it felt, and what was actually really nice was everyone was chanting Nunez after the goals, despite him not scoring them - so it really felt we were behind him, just a shame he couldn’t hit the back of the net! He did look like a real menace though and doing a lot for the team anyway.

The bad bit - we did the boot room hospitality (which was nice) however was in my opinion let down by the “Liverpool legend” attendee, Mark Lawrenson. What an absolute miserable sod - if you are going to act like it a chore, don’t agree to do it!

Anyway, we didn’t let it ruin what was an amazing night, not just because of the atmosphere and score line, but because it was my so nice to see my daughter enjoy it so much!
