Ed is there interest from Klopp in the young winger Jeremy Doku?

IrishScouser2

{Ed002's Note - Jeremy Doku (RW/LW) Liverpool attempted to strike a deal for Jeremie Doku last but dropped their interest in the kid because of a misunderstanding about him going to see Chelsea (which turned out to be his sister not the club). There was a fear that Anderlecht would face further sanctions over past issues and an approach by Milan about the player saw them ask €20M. The situation has now changed and offers may be listened to after he has had a good season - but any deal is likely going to need a one or two year loan back to Anderlecht. This is where it gets difficult and would cut Milan out of a deal. Clubs are going to be less likely to want to tie funds up in such a way. When he turned 18 his agent was declared and that could be an issue that I don't want to address here. I am not aware of another approach by Liverpool at this time but at the right price there could be well be interest.}

"dropped their interest in the kid because of a misunderstanding about him going to see Chelsea (which turned out to be his sister not the club) "

I know it probably wan't funny for the kid, but you have to laugh at that. Who was dealing with him from the club's end? Mr. Bean?

2.) 31 Jul 2020 16:11:33
Hahah I agree That’s a shocker That SR!

3.) 31 Jul 2020 21:02:33
Ed002, been meaning to ask but didn’t don’t know where to put it. I’ll ask here as you’ve mentioned an agent in this post.

How do young players go about becoming represented by an agent? Do some agencies have scouts where they will look for players to approach? Or would the player ring around and ask for representation? Would there be any cases whereby a club has noticed a youngster they would like to acquire, realised he’s without an agent and asked an agent they have a good relationship with to approach the player to broker a transfer? Or is that just adding a middle man who they have to pay more for?

Sorry for the length and number of Q’s. Hope you’re well.

{Ed002's Note - They are not allowed to be represented by an agent under 18 but many are. The agents are not allowed to negotiate for the youngsters before they are 18 and most clubs will not deal with them - the exception is two English sides (who tread on questionable ground when doing so). Agents will look to sign up the players expected to do well - others will end up with large agencies who will work on an estate agent type basis for a fee. The rules have been tightened and The FA and FIFA would like to do it, but it is a constant battle. There are better models in Germany for example.}

4.) 31 Jul 2020 21:04:16
Woodburn's agent.

5.) 31 Jul 2020 21:28:29
Ah I see, thanks, makes sense. I’ll have a look at Germany, who seem to have a better model for everything.

6.) 01 Aug 2020 08:14:30
Are we among those two clubs ed. does sound like something we would do unfortunately.

{Ed002's Note - Yes Liverpool are one.}

7.) 01 Aug 2020 14:52:01
The greatest misunderstanding has to be still the one by Roy Hodgson (which I just read about) . He sold the wrong player. Two players named Alex and he sold the wrong one because he couldn't remember the surnames. Misunderstanding is a very mild word for professional incompetence.

17 Jul 2020 23:44:39
Ed can you see us going for Ben White as cover at CB? He would be perfect in my opinion.

IrishScouser2

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not looking at spending £50M on a back up CB.}

1.) 18 Jul 2020 13:30:44
Is that how much Brighton are asking for ed002? Do you think he stays at Brighton or ends up elsewhere?

My missus family are all Brighton fans and they're frustrated at Leeds fans assuming they'll just keep White. So would he very grateful if you could answer.

{Ed002's Note - That is what Brighton quoted another side who asked but Leeds want another loan ideally. Brighton want to integrate him in to their side next season.}

03 Jul 2020 14:47:11
Ed do you see Naby Keita starting more frequently in the team as his form of late has been very impressive and Do you think there would be any need to sign an attacking midfielder or utilizing Keita in that role?

IrishScouser2

{Ed002's Note - If Keita comes good and can be consistent then he could make that role his.}

1.) 03 Jul 2020 15:25:23
Am not sure I’d say very impressive. He’s done ok in a few games. I think I’d rather sell to make some funds and let’s Jones take he's place.

2.) 03 Jul 2020 19:50:10
He is bang average, won’t make it in the Premier League from what I have seen, he is erratic, loses the ball too often and has some major injury concerns
I cannot talk up any positives and he would not get anywhere near City’s midfield so why he is good enough for ours baffles me!

3.) 03 Jul 2020 23:11:56
Not really sure where the impressive performances have come from. He was ok against Everton for 60 mins when everyone else was poor and he had 8 mins against Palace. Then last night he didn’t do much but also don’t get much opportunity as the team looked disinterested by the time he came on. Next 6 game could be big for Kieta though.

4.) 04 Jul 2020 02:44:56
I am looking forward to all of you saying that you got it wrong with Kieta, there has been flashes of brilliance, let's see what a good run in the team and staying injury free does for him.

5.) 04 Jul 2020 05:02:18
The gall of a reds fan to call naby bang average 😂
Get that he could have played with more consistency but to call a player with his skills bang average is a joke. if he played for Watford everyone would want us to sign him 🤣🤣
Bang average Hahahaha I’m dying
Let me know where I can come and watch you while you work mate 😂😂😂.

6.) 04 Jul 2020 06:47:28
Spoony I stand by what I said, I don’t see anything positive in Keita, he is BANG average and I guarantee he will be injured again before next season starts, he is not meant to be
As for my work, I am a grumpy old ‘Project Manager’ in the construction industry so you are welcome to spend the day on site under my direction if you feel that is your calling!

7.) 04 Jul 2020 06:50:39
Just to add, Wijnaldum is twice the player Keita is, a model of consistency, 7/ 8 out of 10 every game, relatively injury free, and has added goals when they were needed in vital games, my type of midfield player, and has a great work attitude too.

8.) 04 Jul 2020 07:15:13
Everyone is entitled to their opinions but to call Naby bang average for me means you don’t truly understand football at all.

9.) 04 Jul 2020 09:09:27
spoonlord you're the one everyone's laughing at, what has Keita done for you to be so impressed by him? Let us all know where you work and we can all come and watch you be sacked if your work rate is the same as Keita's. Get a grip, he needs to step up big time and show why Liverpool paid so much money for him.

10.) 04 Jul 2020 22:14:24
Flashes of brilliance? What are you guys smoking? "Flashes of brilliance" justifies spending De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes level money to bring him to the team? Really? There's no doubt he has talent. There's no doubt he has ability. But he has clearly not been producing the "flashes of brilliance" on any kind of consistent basis to warrant the adulation he's getting here. Even Ox does more.

11.) 04 Jul 2020 23:56:03
ArAy1969 I think many of us are only being patient with him as it's been injury setbacks that have been the immediate reason he's only been able to show "flashes of brilliance". If he had been fit and available consistently while not offering much than we all would likely be agreeing that his time is up. I would like to see fans back him and then judge his game when he gets the chance to actually play and settle in which could be very likely with a proper pre season under his belt. That instant loss of trust you have toward him would be similar to how OX was viewed in his arsenal days, Gomez for us was never rated whenever injured, arjen robben would be diminished if going period with injury setbacks like van persie also. Some players have enough proven talent that you need to wait until they play fit and ready to see if they are actually a flop before they get put in that bracket imo.

12.) 05 Jul 2020 11:09:54
There is nothing "instant" in my lack of trust, Har-red92. It's been 2 years already and we're going into our third year with no clear sign that he is going to step up massively to De Bruyne or Bruno Fernandes levels (because that's what he level he was bought for) . If you want to give him 4 years to recover his form of 3 years ago (like we did with Sturridge) then go ahead; but it will still be below expectations and hopes. I have nothing wrong against the man; I just feel the standard Liverpool "honeymoon" that each new player is given (six months if you look at Robertson, Fabinho and Minamino, now) is over. I don't believe it is right to be spending such amounts on a player that is not producing; it's as much a business decision as well as a footballing one. The man earns more, weekly, than Sadio Mane, Gini Wijnaldum and Joe Gomez; all vital and productive players. Do you think eyebrows are not raised about that in the dressing room?

He will not be sold, that's also clear to me. His value has probably halved by now and LFC/ FSG will not sell. And we will continue to rely on Robertson and TAA providing the majority of our creative thrust from the sides, because incisive thrusts and creativity from the middle (to make it more balanced, unpredictable and dangerous) is not at optimal levels; Ox is still trying to find his form of 2 years ago but always being present when called on.

I'm a strong believer in "value for money", especially in these challenging times. In fact, aside from the past 2 years or so, FSG was never in a comfortable enough position to be taking gambles. But we have a 50 Million player who doesn't start. You can't be happy about that.

13.) 05 Jul 2020 11:48:03
I do understand your frustrations after 2 years but my reason is simply that I believe he can hit those high levels if he can get properly fit which I think is very possible now with him being able to manage his training and preparation with no distractions ahead of starting next season. If he fails to shrug off the injury issues for another year then absolutely I'd want him replaced.

Hi Ed, I was wondering if Matheus Pereira is on Jurgen Klopp's radar at all?

IrishScouser2

{Ed002's Note - Honestly you will be disappointed each time you ask about random players and as far as I know he will stay at West Brom on loan.}

1.) 13 May 2020 16:01:34
Matheus Perreira, wow.

15 Dec 2019 09:57:51
Hi Ed, was wondering if there is anything new on the Brewster situation. Do you see him being loaned out or will he get game time?

IrishScouser2

{Ed001's Note - I expect him to play Tuesday (most likely) but I still expect him to leave on January, on loan or even permanent if he really wants to. The club would prefer him to stay on the books but it is thought best he goes out on loan.}

1.) 15 Dec 2019 10:33:06
It is rumoured he is out injured for the Villa game? It came from no where. Is it true or it is the end of his LFC carreer or he is not injured at all?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea. Sorry.}

2.) 15 Dec 2019 12:56:30
I think brewster needs to move on for the sake of his career maybe we put a buy back clause in his sale but I think we are hindering his progress which is a shame really as I like the kid and see a decent future for him but I don't think we can afford him the game time he deserves and requires to become the player we know he can be.

3.) 15 Dec 2019 23:31:59
berg469 I don't know how we are hindering his progress the lad is 19 and just had 18 months out so it is going to take time for him to get back. I think a loan to a championship side or abroad to a league to as hard as the prem would be great for him.

Hi Ed, I was wondering whether you think Curtis Jones will have more involvement in the premier league next season or will he just be a replacement if one of our cm's were to leave?

IrishScouser2

{Ed002's Note - I would think he would be in the squad but not a starter.}

01 May 2020 13:41:59
I have heard from a friend that knows people who work for many premier league clubs that the season will continue in June where every game is to be played in St. James Park. Teams will stay in various hotels within the area and train in various training facilities in the area also. There would be in 3/ 4 games a day which would all be televised.

IrishScouser2

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement at this time and it is St Georges Park that is proposed for the games.

1.) 01 May 2020 14:23:27
Ed002, doesn't St. George's park have about 6 or 7 football pitches? They could play games simultaneously if they were to be held there. Or am I thinking of somewhere else?

{Ed002's Note - Yes it has a number of pitches and I guess there could be games played simultaneously - perhaps two. You would need ball boys of course as there are no real stands. But there is a lot of resistance.}

2.) 01 May 2020 14:53:43
Thanks Ed002, I thought that was the place.

They could just have a huge bag with about 200 footballs in it then whizz round in a milk float afterwards and pick them all up.

{Ed002's Note - They would all be gone after 20 minutes with Lovren playing.}

3.) 01 May 2020 15:09:43
A lot of resistance to St Georges Park or just returning general?

{Ed002's Note - Both.}

4.) 01 May 2020 15:11:42
Ed02, is the resistance to playing at this venue linked with the fears of fans showing up to games or is it linked to other reasons? Cheers, man.

{Ed002's Note - No, the resons The FA proposed this and Wembley were because they were easy to police and it would nominally be easier to protect the players, although the medical advice in respect of testing players if rushing through all these games is that the incubation period for the virus would not be up before the next game would be played. The resistance relates primarily to loss of home advantage.}

5.) 01 May 2020 15:41:05
Thanks Ed. Seeing early reports in the press that all teams have at least agreed that they want the season to finish subject to the government announcement due next Thursday - how true is that? I thought there were a growing number of clubs who wanted it finished now.

{Ed002's Note - There are no changes in the proposed dates - if it is possible to meet those dates then everyone accepts it. However, next Thursday will likely see isolation extended and that would likely compromise dates - and any later dates are likely not viable. It did not achieve anything useful. There was no vote over the grounds which will become an issue. There is still no plan on how to end early if that is needed.}

6.) 01 May 2020 15:55:15
Why on earth haven't they at least decided how to end the season if it can't be completed?

{Ed002's Note - I agree, but a subject they are staying clear of.}

7.) 01 May 2020 16:22:14
I think lockdown will be extended on 7th but Boris will layout his next phase plan that’ll start in June that may or may not be able to mean they can plan for June prem restart.

Businesses that can reopen or return to work will need the time to put the measures in place for social distancing.

8.) 01 May 2020 16:36:39
So they have gone with the bury our head in the sand approach. I thought a government official was involved in this meeting? So if they are waiting, they are just kicking the can then when Boris makes an announcement next week they can act like it’s out of their hands. Poor decision making and the lack of a contingency plan highlights that.

{Ed002's Note - You have misunderstood something clearly.}

9.) 01 May 2020 17:20:53
My apologies Ed002, thought I’d read somewhere a government official was involved.

10.) 01 May 2020 18:10:09
Let's hope his next phase plan is not as disastrous as his first phase, another 750 odd dead today 27k in total. And lads think football will be back.

11.) 01 May 2020 21:42:49
Would the home advantage be play/ pitch, the atmosphere (without fans, or the travel?

{Ed002's Note - Travel is unimportant.}

12.) 01 May 2020 23:07:39
Personally think all the games should be at St. James Gate ;)

13.) 02 May 2020 05:48:15
ed2 couple questions regarding the premier league -

- they seem determined to finish the 2019-20 season. Is there an absolute final date that they must have the season completed by? And, I'd be interested to hear in your opinion why they are staying away from discussing how to end the season early?

{Ed002's Note - (a) Nominally the end of July. (b) I suspect because there is no solution that will keep everyone happy.}

02 Mar 2020 18:58:39
Hi Ed, I was wondering that if Werner were to join, would Klopp change the whole team around to fit him in or would he be happy to be on the bench as a sub for Bobby?

IrishScouser2

{Ed001's Note - he can play multiple roles, so I don't see a need to change the whole team around to fit him in. He can play either of the wide roles too.}

1.) 02 Mar 2020 20:15:16
IrishScouser it has also been said mate that he is unlikely to arrive so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

2.) 02 Mar 2020 22:24:21
I think you can start dreaming . Out of all the names connected with Liverpool I do think Werner is the most likely, there are far too many signals that suggest there is more to this rumour . But its most likely to replace one of our front 3 .

3.) 02 Mar 2020 22:57:11
Not saying Werner but someone like him would be class. Can add real quality, push the front three for a place and can play across the line seemlessly. There is no need to suggest he would be a bench player. Bobby could even drop into ten.

I don’t think we would go for Werner though, surely the noise problem would be worse at Anfield than it is at RBL and that must affect his communication wearing ear plugs.

4.) 02 Mar 2020 23:59:06
I think that you'll find as teams continue to play 10-0-0 then stats are definitely irrelevant.

5.) 03 Mar 2020 02:01:31
Danny ings?

22 Sep 2019 13:17:34
Hi Ed, I was just wondering when you think it will be time for Brewster to be included on the bench for premier league/ champions league games. In my opinion I can't see who he would replace on the bench but I was hoping you'd give your opinion.

IrishScouser2

{Ed001's Note - no idea. Really depends on how he performs in training.}

1.) 22 Sep 2019 15:37:36
On the bench today.

2.) 22 Sep 2019 20:53:30
Will get game time v MK Dons.

3.) 23 Sep 2019 06:27:56
sh*t show chance of him playing more than 85mins this year let alone getting his shooting rating on FIFA up to 85 lol.

Herbie Kane is not good enough for the first team in my opinion. I know he was rated by Stevie but he has turned into a championship player. (in my opinion)
