On the doping front, was anyone else struck by how Stam failed a drug test when he moved to Italy, which has more rigorous testing, and how Rio Ferdinand ran off the training pitch to avoid a random test?

The end for city? In the short term yes if their owner hangs about, if he doesn't this could be an even bigger disaster for city.

End of the day the punishment needs to fit the crime to show that regardless of their success cheating doesn't pay.

Man City should absolutely be stripped of title's. What was the club in? Five aside football?
They competed at the highest level of football with ramifications against other clubs.
Far too many fans are desensitized and the talk of points or relegation is not even a slap on the wrist.
Those charges enabled them significant advantages on the football pitch within the Premier League and every other competition they were.
Man city absolutely should absolutely be stripped of every title and honor.

Anything else and y'all have gone soft and don't care about the integrity of the sport.
That club has built it's "empire" Through alledged* illegal activity and now they reap the benefits from such activity.
Let's not forget the extremely suspicious puma deal whilst they can't even fill their own stadium. That club is still operating in a way of they'll do what they want to dominate everyone within the game.

Kieran Maguire mentioned on the Overlap a few months back that if found guilty City could be slapped with a 60-100 point deduction. They cannot be relegated straight away. I personally reckon they will get a 60 point deduction, banned from player transfers for two years and face big fines. Either way they must get a big punishment.

According to our "friend", AI. I posed the question of applying the same precedent that the PL punished Everton and Forest recently.

And according to AI. if the same precedent were followed, City would be hit with a points deduction between 42 to 70 points, for the 7 PSR related charges.

For the remaining 107 charges. anything goes for those charges.

Now that City have been found guilty of most of the charges, and let's be honest we all knew they're guilty as sin, how would everyone feel if you were a City fan?

I've listened to a lot of City fans defending what they've done and claiming they are being treated unjustly because they broke the Premier League cartel.

They are asking why their owners can't pump money into their own business to grow it just like any other business?

A lot of them think, at least outwardly that they've done nothing wrong and are being treated unfairly.

I think they are missing the point. The financial rules are there to protect these great institutions that mean so much and have meant so much to so many for generations. If you just allow rich owners to pump money into these clubs you end up with situations like QPR, Portsmouth, Everton etc. and it's only a matter of time until some great clubs cease to exist.

The only difference is that City did it and have been successful but that is irrelevant. The fact is they have lied, cheated, cooked the books to gain a financial advantage. If the owners lost interest they would be bang in trouble and would probably go under and that's what the rules are there to protect them from.

But how would I feel if this was happening to Liverpool? Knowing how steadfast I am in my defence of anything Liverpool (I have the biggest red tinted glasses in the world) I really don't know.

I'd like to think I would see the bigger picture and condemn the owners for what they have done but I'd also be terrified about what might happen to my club and would probably search for reasons as to why we are being targeted and reasons why we should be treated with leniency.

City fans are partly to blame as they have all known deep down that their owners have been cheating yet they've gone with it because it gave them success.

At the end of the day though it's the fans that will suffer most if the sanctions are as heavy as we all think they should be.

We can all say they should be expelled from the Premier League, 1000 points deductions, transfer bans etc. but I'd be interested to hear how others would feel if it were happening to Liverpool?

The city fans May scream blue murder but they have paid their season tickets and match day tickets and gave their support so should not be held responsible for their owners.

I've lived in Manchester for 25 years mate, know a lot of City fans - general consensus so far: Denial, outrage, accusations of jealousy, stitch ups, corruption (yes you read that right ha) confidence nothing major will happen (go back to the denial comment) deflection (yeah but United are skint and just jealous)

Mixed bag mate but I used to work a City's ground during the time so I knew this was coming - pretty much every City fan I know have spent the past few years giving it the big one suggesting it's all a load of jealous waffle and their legal team will destroy it all (Ironic really given it is their propensity to break the law is what's got them into this mess)

Majority are now scrabbling and backtracking as the not so noisy neighbours are having a field day ha - don't think the reality has kicked in yet as most are still in shock and denial.

There can be no retrospective title stripping it's a poor way to deal with this issue.
Deducting 50-60 points and banning City from the next 6 windows would be a more fitting conclusion to the saga.
Fines too of circa £75m to be used for grass roots development and children's cancer causes would be nice to see.

It's not a poor way t deal with it, it's exactly what sould happen, but the League won't do it because it will only bring more negative press and make this an unforgettably historic moment, something they'd rather avoid.

I don't think they should strip titles tbh. It's not like the Juventus thing we're it was on the pitch cheating. Regardless of how they got the teams they did, they were the best teams in those seasons. A substantial fine and massive points deduction would suffice I think.

Hearing strong rumours United, Especially Radcliffe are against City being stripped of any titles and them being retrospectively awarded to runners up.

Insiders have said Radcliffe went parabolic at the thought and was heard shouting "where do you think we're going to find the money to re-paint the trophy wall".
