My Journalist friend DMed me today after I vented my LFC frustrations.

He is usually positive and level headed.

I will copy his reply to me typing LFC’s transfer window has been shambolic below:

It looks scattergun, but I wd say it’s often/always been like this. Just more of it gets out these days coz of socials and agents etc.

That said, LFC have to get the manager more of what he wants and needs by the end of the window. He’s a good coach but he’s not Merlin!

Looking ahead to lunchtime Saturday, bet of the day is Delap to score on his debut!!

With the frailties of our team at the minute I think the best option with the current squad is a back five of Frimpong, Araujo, Jacquet, VVD & Kerkez.

Midfield diamond of Gravenberch at the base, Szob and Macca with Wirtz/Gakpo at the tip and Isak up front. Not a typical Iraola team but we don’t have the players currently for an ideal Iraola team.

Apologies, mate - I've read that completely wrong. It's meant to be Wirtz or Gakpo, I read it as both, apologies, mate, my bad. But if it's right that Ali is out until November, maybe a rush goalie might be the answer. 😂

The more the window goes on, the more it seems FSG are shutting up shop and not spending as they know they are selling.

They're smart enough to know they're getting played with Diomande, but entertained it. Now bids for players that realistically they know they can't get before the window closes.

We'll get the journos "we really tried, no market value" in September, but really think they don't want to spend on Liverpool when they're going to sell up next year.

How this window has been is not really any different from all the other bar last year, Klopp papered over a lot of cracks for his tenure in charge. Legend!

Dario Osorio available for £20m and wanted by a lot of clubs. 22, left-footed right winger. Still a bit raw but a low risk signing. Has been scouted by us for a couple of years.

William Gomes from Porto. Left-footed right winger.

Brazilian and only 20. Again like above tricky winger a bit raw. Wanted by many top clubs and even scouted by us. Not sure on price, but Transfermarkt have him at £20m.

Two low risk options for great prices.

Reckon we will get Mbaye and Barcola.. but we’re waiting for PSG to drop their valuation and by leaving it late and discussing other targets they're likely to take a lower offer the later it gets.

PSG want EUR70m for Mbaye and we value him at EUR50m. We are right to pull out of it. You can't tell Leverkusen EUR45m then up it because we are in for him.

That's why I think we will get him, because they don't need him, and the closer to the window closing it gets, the more likely they are to accept £50m and we get both Barcola and Mbaye.

I feel we're flirting with other players to test PSG's resolve.

We look desperate and clubs smell blood.
What a let down. Assuming deals were getting done when in reality Hughes is like a lost puppy.
We're short on the wings and we've the weakest midfield in the top 6. An injury as well in the middle and you're wondering how Hughes had a job this summer.

I agree, FM, but put Wharton and a Camara/Kone type in there and it's a title winning midfield. Along with our title winning forward line of Barcola Ekiteke Mbyae. That's a serious team.
