Nice read Ed
Couple of bits from me

With the inverted Trent role. Do you think it’s to much to ask of Quansah? As said he was already taking most of the attacks and then to have to cover the gap left behind from Trent, either covering that or moving over if VVD covered.

I genuinely think Joe Gomez right back, give us the width. A run of games he’s a player! Helps out the centre backs with a back four and no inverted positions and within that we can then use Trent in a central position with his availability to cover if needed.

{Ed001's Note - I think it is too much for any centre-back really, the set up needs to be more fluid and change to a back three when on the ball. It is nothing new, teams have been trying this inverted full-back for many years now, it is just that we are not switching to a back three when we have the ball, to allow the full-back to invert safely. It ends up with the right-sided centre-half covering the entire right side of the pitch, which is too much. If it just switches to a back 3, with a left-sided centre-back instead of Tsimikas/Robertson, then Virgil can just move central and help. As it is, we just have nothing down the flanks, in defence and attack.

I am with you on using Gomez and Bradley, when he is fully fit. Just go to a proper back four, shift Trent into the centre and stop just ending up in a central bottleneck when we go forward.}

Endo was being made abit of a scapegoat. It was so narrow in the first half with totally no width, and Virgil and Quansah giving him 5 yard passes when he is facing the goal with nowhere to go.

The only time we in the first half we attacked down the flank, Trent created a chance for Mo in stoppage time and Szoboszlai had the rebound deflected over.

In the 2nd half it was so much better simply because Gomez attacked and got to the byline constantly.

The league is there for the taking, my worry is too many draws stopping us in the track.

Nice one, Ed01. The inverted nonsense is killing us and I know, I have been saying it but it is becoming even clearer now. I know you say Klopp may not see it BUT I think he does see it cos he is constantly having to change to a back 4 when we need to rescue the game.

Now notice vs Fulham when Gomez came on, he inverted with Trent in the 6 and then Klopp fixed it with Endo coming on and Gomez out wide giving width and it worked with trent pushed into the 8 position. Klopp did the exact same thing vs Palace with Gomez moving out wide to RB hugging the touch line and Trent in the 6 after Endo came off. So to me, he does see it and knows it stifles us. The question is why does he keep starting with this wretched system knowing full well, it simply does not work cos he himself is the one changing things. That is what baffles me.

I'm not a fan of inverted system but 1 benefit I've noticed is teams can get threw us threw the middle as handy as previously. At times it was like knife threw butter and opposition straight threw on our goal, whereas with inverted rb opposition go to there left wing and from there they still have to get by the rcb. The 'congestion ' in middle works defensively for us that way I think.

{Ed001's Note - is that the system or the improvement in midfield?}

I can’t stand the inverted thing.

Edd001 how good can elliot be? Does he have enough in his game to become a possible worldclass player?

{Ed001's Note - certainly Real Madrid thought so when they tried to beat us to his signature, but I am not sure. It really depends on if he can settle into a position in the team and get a long run again.}

Oli, 'the inverted nonsense is killing us' but we are top of the league?

Go back and check some of the games/ results, a lot of the time we get the win due to coming away from the inverted fullback!

You can take the seat mate ??.

McGoveb someone is upset that Klopp is not doing what he wants him to do.

Edd001 is there any player that you potentially could see him becoming if he excels? David silva, bernardo silva type?

{Ed001's Note - Harvey Elliott.}

Thanks for the article Ed.

I do like the spark this team gets off the bench. Particularly Elliot.

The key for Nunez staying on the field is his movement. He's all over the place in a good way. Just needs to get that finishing improved. Needs to stop overthinking that aspect.

I really think Gomez has looked good this season. I always feel better with Konate and/ or Gomez on the field, despite Konate's tendency for a blatant shove.

I see signs of good with Endo. I think he has been a good pickup, but see him more as someone coming off the bench to close out a game. Heck of an option for that.

I hope Gakpo can find a place. I'd almost like to see him in the center with Nunez back out on the left to see how they interchange. I know most don't want to see him out of the middle, but it would be worth seeing in my opinion.

Hope it kills us for the rest of the season if we carry on as we are ?.

I do think the extra body of inverted rb has stopped us being played threw as handy, no doubt fresh legs in midfield has been massive but none of our regular starters in midfield would be classed as defensive minded.
I would like to see elliott get run at rw if salah goes in summer and even if salah doesn't we could try salah in centre and elliott wide.

Mcgoveb, I'm sure you are aware that two things can be correct at the same time. Us being top of the league does not remove the fact that this inverted nonsense stifles us in our ability to play well in midfield and find spaces out wide cos it does not allow for us to get enuff width down the flanks hence, the middle is congested which plays into the hands of the bus parkers. That much is clear.

Also you say we are top of the league, right? Then, may be you lot can tell me why Klopp coninues to ditch this inverted nonsense everytime we need to rescue many of the games we have come back to win this season if it is working so well? I'll wait.

16.) 12 Dec 2023
12 Dec 2023 18:45:52
Klopps pretty clueless then?

Or perhaps two things can be correct at the same time and Klopps clueless in setting the team up and is also a world class manager.

We have scored more goals than everyone except City and have the best defence. I think our midfield must be doing something right.

12 Dec 2023 20:01:31
Just enjoy the ride lads, were doing something right to be where we are. We've the best manager in the world he knows best.

Lijndersball for 70 mins
Kloppball for 20 + injury time.

And somehow we're top of the league - incredible really.

I can’t remember who posted it last week but someone said we play to the same level as our opponents and I totally agree. A very big weekend coming up so I really do hope we lift our game and put another 7 passed Man U!

21.) 12 Dec 2023
12 Dec 2023 20:56:11
So essentially if anyone challenges some of Klopp's methods, it now automatically means we are calling him clueless and not a world class manager? Sound thinking. Personally, I will challenge Klopp's methods as much as I see fit, thank you very much. Others are free to make other choices

Also, it is now safe to conclude that there are no actual, substantative arguments to disprove the narrative that the inverted system is a real problem that stifles us to the point that Klopp himself has to ditch it in order to rescue games except snarky remarks and lame jokes, right? Great revelation. Again, just what I wanted to hear.

Klopp out Woli in.

Imagine that. Your first ever time at Anfield is as manager. What a story.

Sorry but they aren’t your opinions, you regurgitate literally word for word what Ed001 says as HIS opinion and I mean for everything not just the odd opinion. It’s hard to take you seriously as a poster in your own right when you don’t have a thought of your own. I’ve said it before but I would rather read what Harry has to post because at least it comes from himself and has the balls to stand by what he thinks and doesn’t hang on the word of another. That’s my opinion btw.

ed1 - I think the coaching group have fallen in love with the idea of over-loading the midfield. So can see that they would keep the inverted wingback thing going.

{Ed001's Note - though there are signs of reverting as they keep trying Trent in midfield with a normal full-back.}

Longthing, it was me. And I believe very much that it is very true. There seems to be always a correlation between our performance and the position (in the standings table) of the opponent.
