Losing some real characters is being underestimated by quite a lot of fans. Yes we needed departures but the amount including Henderson this season imo is a blow.
I think we need an experienced player in this window. Virgil is expected my many to become captain, which for me will be disappointing. Attitude problems and an ego greater than anything at the club. It's grand if he's playing well but last season he looked well past it and should have been in the departures list. Also going into what I believe will be his last season.
Trent isn't my captain either. He just isn't. Robbo wouldn't be long term.
I'd go with Allison as captain. Can see everything from the back, the right attitude and temperament, carries himself very very well.
Hendersons departure will be felt.

I hear what you’re saying mate but I think there's plenty of experience in and around the team and coaching staff with some good players of the right age (Mac Allister and Dom) to show that they are the players needed to freshen up the starting 11.
Keep the faith MIZER.

Henderson and firmino wanted to go, £40m for Fabinho is great business. Milner is getting his bus pass this year. So who out of ox or kieta did you want to keep?

Maybe becoming captain might give VVD some of that zest back.

You can't say we've let too many experienced players leave in one sentence only to then say we should've also sold van dijk in the next.
I feel Virgil will silence a lot of the doubters this season. Only time will tell obviously but I'm looking forward to seeing this new look youthful side develop.

Regards captain, what really matters is how the player is viewed in the club. When we say “arrogance” we don’t really have any basis for that other than what we see on the telly.

I tend to agree about the dynamic in the squad in losing so many experienced players. It is under valued by fans because FIFA doesn’t have a stat that measures it so it’s hard to grasp.

Interesting that experience wasn’t so valued last year when everyone wanted the players who are leaving to leave.

Just a thought.

Fair enough Faith. I don’t think it’s a “FIFA” thing though.

How useful was that “experience” when we were getting over run time and again last season in midfield?

In fact our best midfielder last season was Bajcetic, a young lad with the least experience of all of them.

Change was needed. And we’re getting it. Only bad thing is we should have started it sooner last summer!

OP, Ox, Naby and Arthur literally do not count in this context. Also, multiple things can be true at the same time. The thing here is that even tho, we got leaders going out the door, it is definitely the right time for Milner to go and as for Fab and Hendo, they both wanted to leave. Not much you can do there.

Now we are not bereft of leaders in the squad and far from it. It is an opportunity for others to step up and provide that new energy and new voices in the dressing room esp with us being in a rebuild. It depends on how you see things and what part of this you want to focus on. The positive or the negative. I choose the former.

We need an experienced player this window.
We should let Van Dijk go.
The irony.

Gives space for the next ones to rise to the occasion. I certainly didn't expect Henderson to be the leader he became when Gerrard left.

Even if Hendo had stayed his minutes would have likely reduced this season so players were always going to have to step up on the pitch.

Looks like the squad has quite a few leaders in of players who either captain their nation or previous clubs.

Klopp is the voice and the captain is the dressing room and on field message relay.

The voice has stayed the same it’s now who is going to be the captain to deliver that message.

Don't see Robbo as Captain fair enough he's vocal buy for me it'd be Trent. Although I think klopp will go

1. Virgil
2. Trent
3. Robbo or Allison.

Watch a couple Youtube highlights of last season.
That’ll remind you how dreadful that midfield was.

I said towards the end of the season, every single one of them can leave for me Bar Bajcetic.

And it’s not far off tbh ??.

I’ve never heard Klopp talk about Virgil’s ego or attitude problems once. Seemingly others know better ?.

Hasn’t robbo been very good as Scotland captain? I’m just assuming so because they are looking pretty good. Also- I’ve heard his argument as to why he’d make a good captain and it’s pretty convincing.

Henderson went for money and wanted out. we cannot force player to stay!

We have plenty of characters and winners in the squad.

Perhaps people confuse character with performative screaming and shouting at team mates?

Henderson sold out basically for oil money. Maybe not a popular view but that’s the sun of it as much as I rated him for his leadership and performances in the past.

Robbo 30 with 2 years left on his contract. That's the reason for me it wouldn't make sense. Allison I can see here hopefully atkeast another 4 years.
