Romano claiming we've agreed on £110M fee for Caicedo and aiming for a medical for Friday morning.

Wow. If this is true. Hats off for making it happen.

Bit steep but absolutely what our midfield needs. A new LCB would be icing on the cake but if Caicedo goes through. I think we're back in the race this season ?

Gutted we didn't bring Couts back. I know he left in a bad way but has a lot to prove and would've junked at the chance to play for us again and make good to his damaged reputation!

Off the bench against Utd after 60 mins. Within 20 minutes he's got an assist and a goal!

I do get the arguement that he may block Harvey Elliot from playing consistently but as it stood when Couts signed for Villa, Elliot is out for a while yet and won't be rushed back and we need a body or 2 for sure!

That said, need a big performance tomorrow. Title MAY be gone but we have to get back to winning ways and put some pressure on.

Right where he needs to be. Beating United and somewhere that has good back rubs for his whiny a**.

2.) 15 Jan 2022 19:57:32
I agree. He’s a lot better than ox Minamino origi.
We haven’t made a good move in the transfer window for ages!

3.) 15 Jan 2022 20:19:04
30 minutes of looking good in the 4 years since he's gone and and it means we should've re-signed him.

Can we please have a "no kneejerk" week on here at some stage? For charity or something?

4.) 15 Jan 2022 21:00:38
Don't think it's much of a "kneejerk".

We need more goals in our team and let's see how many Coutinho is involved in by the end of the season eh!

I was glad to see the back of him when he left but feel that now, and the way things have been for him since he left, he will be more motivated than ever to revive his own career!

5.) 15 Jan 2022 21:04:19
Won as many champions leagues and more league titles than the best Liverpool team in over a generation despite only looking good for 30 minutes. Not bad.

6.) 15 Jan 2022 21:46:26
OMM, are you familiar with the fallacy of composition and division.

Or to put it another way, was Djimi Traore the best left full back in Europe in 2004/ 2005? He did win the CL after all.

7.) 15 Jan 2022 22:02:12
Ever made great signings, Thiago, konate, jota, everyone can’t be a world beater. Some of the crap people spew.

8.) 15 Jan 2022 22:04:35
And exactly what did he do to win those titles? Absolutely nothing. They would have won them, whether he was there or not.

9.) 16 Jan 2022 00:05:49
A realy glaring example of that would be Shaqiri's trophy cabinet, he won a fair few between Liverpool and Bayern.

10.) 16 Jan 2022 00:44:55
Coutinho’s resume, like Coutinho’s highlights reel, flatters to deceive.

The reason Coutinho isn’t back at Liverpool is that the club didn’t want him.

That is to say, the current manager who managed the player, sold him and then went on to win the CL and PL without him didn’t have any interest in bringing him back.

I know a lot of us have personal experience of the bloke and have managed PL clubs and are perfectly positioned to make a different call but, unfortunately until 2024 we will all have to put up with JK’s decisions. I’m sure once he has gone he’ll be declared a legend .

{Ed0666's Note - I’m pretty confident Couts would have done better than the Ox, Milner, Jones, and Keita till the end of the season. But that’s just my opinion and like you say klopp knows better as he managed and tutored him. I’m 99% sure we would have been offered Couts on loan with an option to buy but we declined. Why? Maybe it was finances as we’re tighter than a mouses fart, maybe a player is coming in real soon or maybe just maybe like you say mate klopp didn’t fancy him.

11.) 16 Jan 2022 08:17:00
Interesting to read what Klopp said at the beginning of this week about not looking for a six month solution, which I think Coutinho would have been at best.
I suspect if Jones and Elliot can stay and can get fit respectively, Hendo can shake off the after effects of C.V. and Fabs, and at any given time, two of Ox Keita, Thiago and Millie are available then there wouldn’t have been many opportunities for Coutinho and he wouldn’t have been a cost effective option even if JK had wanted him (which I just don’t think he did) .

12.) 16 Jan 2022 08:48:54
I'm glad we didn't go for countinho, would like jones and elliot to get the chance. Both could be super players for us if they develop as you would hope. think in jones case it has to start now to do it more consistently, hopefully that bad luck he's had last couple of months over.

10 wins and 3 draws from last 13 league games.

26 goals scored and 7 conceded.
What's the problem here?

Yeah I would have liked a new signing but it didn't happen so let's crack on and support the team through hopefully another exciting season!

Sum run of results alright, and in two of them draws we wer leading until 2 very late goals.

2.) 02 Sep 2021 14:12:33
Spot on mate, great post. People crying over absolutely bugger all, it's pathetic. We have a great team more than capable, will we win the league? I have my doubts but we will be challengers at the very least. We have a brilliant team who have shown they can compete at the very highest level, our job is to support them.

3.) 02 Sep 2021 18:51:16
Would be nice if those 10 wins and 3 draws were all in this season. That would surely see us sat top with just under half the games gone. 7 points from 9 though is pretty good for me.

4.) 02 Sep 2021 21:30:26
OP in addition to that, 33 points from a possible 39 ( Best in the PL during that span) and achieved by our new signings in Thiago and Jota and our academy grads in Jones, Williams, Elliott and Phillips BUT clearly, we have stood still and not refreshed the squad and things have gone stale 🙄🙄.

Putting aside all the transfer talk.
Me and the wife are about to start our drive to Liverpool where we'll be staying in a hotel for the weekend with the small matter of going to the game on Saturday!
Buzzing for this. Not been to Anfield since Curtis Jones' wonder goal in the cup against the bitters 18months ago!

Wherever you're all watching the game tomorrow, make some noise and enjoy it. Hopefully the boys can make a statement and get the 3 points!

Can't wait!

After seeing so many posts slagging our defence I just thought it would be worth pointing something out.

Every player makes regular mistakes on a pitch. Granted, our defence are prone to making atleast 1 per game but keepers, midfielders AND strikers make them.

Strikers screw up in one on one situations with a keeper, midfielders misplace a pass or hold onto the ball for too long and lose it.

Problem is, as a defender, 9 times out of ten if you make a mistake you get punished for it.

There are plenty of times our average defenders have looked solid and then one lapse of concentration leads to a goal.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to replace lovren matip and klaven but the point is this, we know that they're a liability at times but until January atleast, they are our only options. We wanted a new CB and we screwed it up. Move on.

If a stiker misses chance after chance (as had happened this season already) they won't get slated for it.

I see a post earlier saying that if they were Mane, Salah or Firmino they would be fuming of our defence.

That could be swung around. If chances were taken, the odd mistake leading to a goal wouldn't matter so much because we'd have a 2 or 3 goal advantage already!

Football teams have 11 players, they are ALL responsible for what happens on the pitch!

1.) 14 Sep 2017 18:53:50
They're not just making mistakes though, they're almost forgetting how to play their roles.
Matip seems to want to play full back or midfielder for example.
e's getting easily sucked out of position because the midfield 3 tend to all go missing from their central positions for whatever reason as well.
It's not difficult to see that the midfield go AWOL, the defenders then get dragged all over the place to make up for it and we get caught with Moreno asleep and not alert to cover the missing CBs (Matip tends to move forward, Lovren tends to come across to cover and then there's a gaping hole that Moreno doesn't seem able to see with a forward standing there to tap in or 3 forwards in the case of City's second goal) .
It's playground stuff all round and just basic defending.
I actually don't think it's hard to fix but who am I to say that?!

2.) 14 Sep 2017 20:46:04
OIrish, I agree with your post BUT people need to stop blaming Moreno or any other player for Lovren crapping his pants on the first goal. ity's just unfair. Lovren will be the first one to tell you that he is the SOLE responsible for that goal and no one else. Not a sould in the ground could have known he would screw up on that play. I'm sure even the Sevilla players were dumbfounded. The recriminations need to stop and so does the blame game esp. if the player does not deserve it.

3.) 14 Sep 2017 21:45:09
Bingo - as a defender, Moreno should always expect the worst case scenario - fact!
Ask any good coach, this is a basics of good defending.
The opposite if you're a striker - you should always anticipate the best so you're ready to poach.
The Sevilla striker anticipated a mistake or the ball to reach him one way or another, Moreno did not anticipate the ball coming across.
He has done it a few times, I'm certainly not blaming Moreno solely for that goal.
Nor would I blame Lovren solely.
There were quite a few errors by more than just them and good play by Sevilla as well.
Moreno is just not a natural defender - why can you not see that? If he was, he'd have been tight with that striker to cover Lovren. Not too dissimilar with their second goal.

As much as I agree with the sentiment, I don't think all these sports should've been cancelled.

From what I gather, her majesty was into her sport and what better way to celebrate her life then with top sport throughout the weekend dedicated in her majesties memory.

Admittedly, I would imagine it will do klopp and the lads good to have some extra training and start to work on what's going wrong but I'm gutted.

Atleast F1 and rugby have decided to go ahead but imagine any American fans who had already landed this week to watch the woman's undisputed match in London tomorrow now having to either fly back home and come back in October. Not to mention the hard training camps both ladies would've just finished to ensure their bodies are at their peak for fight night, now having to wait/ train for another month.

I would've thought some dialect and permission to dedicate all sports to the queen's memory would've been the best way to go about things but then what do I know.

You can't say we've let too many experienced players leave in one sentence only to then say we should've also sold van dijk in the next.
I feel Virgil will silence a lot of the doubters this season. Only time will tell obviously but I'm looking forward to seeing this new look youthful side develop.

I wouldn't worry about Nunez at all. I've heard him being labelled as a "dud" but even the best strikers have and always will miss chances even when it's easier to score. They will always get a chance to rectify it.

I don't buy into the lacking confidence either. He doesn't strike me as someone who lacks belief in his ability hence why he does sometimes take on the shot shot when an easier pass to someone available is on.

He's come into a team struggling for form and for whatever reason, lacking confidence. But that will also come good. This team is too good to be so inconsistent.
5 wins in last 6 games is a good foundation and last night was a good way to forget about the Forest game and move on to Leeds. Hopefully everyone is fine after last night and no new niggling injuries to key players. Roll on Saturday.

Our worse start to a season for 10 years and yet we're 5points off top 4 with a game in hand ?

I get the frustration but the mass hysteria is comical af!

Bet you have all posted videos on social media showing you singing allez allez allez with a big group of fans either at a game or a pub etc.

"We are loyal supporters. "

Unless you're out of form or playing badly and struggling for confidence then we will just slag off all players coaches etc etc etc .
Fkin laughable.

I think it's too easy for us to all over analyse.

What's the point in changing tactics and formations when the fundamental issue is confidence (or lack of) at the moment. It'll be the same players feeling very low being asked to do different things. Stick to what you know and fight your way back to form!

This will happen to most teams through every level of the game unfortunately. Confidence is like a C.V.. When things are going wrong, it spreads through the team. When things start to improve, everyone finds that extra 20%.

It's been a rough watch this first couple months of the season. There will be no talk of the title or even top 4 at this stage. First and foremost every player needs to fight there way back into form and build on that.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and my opinion is that it is really as simple as I said above. Once this very capable team have discovered some form and start firing, we will be tough to beat again.

It's an old cliche but it is so true -
Form is temporary. Class is permanent.
