Could you confirm if Lambert is actually moving to West Brom? Also any further developments on Balotelli to Fiorentina and Borini to Lazio?

{Ed002's Note - Lambert's move to WBA should go ahead. I explained about the others yesterday.}

24 Jun 2015 01:00:41

Know anything about the firmino links which have cropped up regarding the deal being completel? Are they true?

{Ed002's Note - It is not completed but I understand Liverpool have offered Hoffenheim considerably more than anyone else. Due to his release clause, they will be more than happy with the offer. A Chelsea representative in Chile says his agent has been there and spoken with a number of sides about the player and that Liverpool appeared to be willing to agree terms. The Napoli South American scout tells me the same.}

Hi eds
Do Liverpool hold interest in Antonio Candreva? And is Skrtel looking to leave?
Thanks as always

{Ed002's Note - (a) No. (b) Not that I am aware.}

22 May 2015 18:52:13

I understand from an ex-German international that Liverpool have watched Lars Stindl on more than one occasion this season but he has decided to reject the interest of Liverpool and will move to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer

{Ed001's Note - Milner has an offer on the table from City and is considering it, but it is likely he will look around before committing to anything. He is certainly not a done or nearly done deal yet.

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid are looking much less likely to offer a new deal to Khedira now that Silva has arrived. He is able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any side outside of Spain now and AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, Arsenal and Schalke 04 sre all interest. Each of these clubs has spoken with thge representatives of the player. The player's representatives have also approached Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich to guage interest as Khedira is keen to play in the Champions League next season. Chelsea and Arsenal are both concerned about the player's on going fitness. At the end of the day, if he can prove his fitness, Liverpool or Schalke would likely be the best fit for him, although don't discount Dortmund.}

Looking very very unlikely now.

Ed002's Note - Liverpool enquired about the availability of Real Madrid's Lucas Vazquez and were told Espanyol had an option as part of a buy-to-loan deal but that he would be allowed to leave this summer.}

PSG and Manchester City remain keen on the signing of Miralem Pjanic but both are constrained by UEFA sanctions and will need to sell before buying - and may well be put off by the price. PSG would be willing to include Verratti as part of the deal but Verratti is set on a move elsewhere. Liverpool and Spurs have enquired and are aware that he could be available at the right price - but that would be very high (€50M) and the player has said he has no interest in either club - whether or not that would change if the asking price and wages were matched I don't know. Manchester United also made an enquiry before appointing a new manager in the summer, but it went nowhere. Borussia Dortmund and Zenit St Petersburg seem to have dropped their interest. The player is looking for €250k per week in wages and would probably not be interested in moving to a non-Champions League club. Roma's owners have said they don't want to sell but the player is probably looking for a way out.}

{Ed002's Note - Even though he has very recently extended his contract, Inter are willing to sell Kovacic and have spoken with Arsenal, Liverpool and Hertha Berlin about the player. Nikky Vuskan has said there has not been any approach to him from any club at this time and that whilst Inter may be willing to sell the player, Kovacic wants to stay at the club. Nikky Vuksan has however said he is aware that Inter and Barcelona are having discussions about some "issues" that would involve Kovacic. To explain, Barcelona are plotting a deal that will see Alex Song and/or Pedro Rodrigues move to Inter on loan until January and then will be part of a permanent deal for Kovacic.

I am not going to go in to too much detail but Piero Ausilio, Inter's Sporting Director, told a Spanish journalist that Liverpool had made a "funny little joke" with a €10M offer.}

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid will look for a significant fee for Asier Illarramendi who is of interest to Real Sociedad and Napoli, in addition to Arsenal and in particular Athletic Bilbao who were negotiating a January transfer. Will almost certainly move in the summer. I understand Inter Milan and AC Milan dropped what interest they had after being told that the player would look for a return to the Basque country if he leaves.

Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid have approached Lazio about taking Filipe Anderson as a replacement for Arda Turan. Manchester City have a declared interest whilst many clubs including Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have had him watched recently. Lazio have offered him a new contract which he will in my view agree to.}

No interest from Liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - Nigel De Jong is interesting Juventus who are expecting to make significant midfield changes this summer. De Jong may be considered as an alternative for Manchester United but he will be far from first choice.

He won't be moving to Liverpool.}

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool did make an enquiry about the player in 2010. PSG need to raise funds but he is not currently expected to leave. I am not aware of any contact with PSG about the player from Liverpool.}

There has been no bid for Vidal who won't be moving to Liverpool.

Firmino (he will most probably move to another English side who have had discussions with his club and put a couple of offers on the table

{Ed002's Note - Ahmet Bulut continues to whip things up, but this time he is correct that Arda Turan will very probably be available to move in the summer - however it will take a bid of around €40M for any sort of deal to happen - plus very significant wages and plus Champions League football. Atletico Madrid have twice rejected offers from Schalke but the only club that has shown any real interest at this time is Galatasaray, and the cost would be an issue. Don't rule out interest from Bayern Munich or Manchester United at some point. Bulut has spoken with a number of sides about the player - and there remains aslim chance that Atrsenal could turn to Arda. Atletico will negotiate as they need the money for the summer with bids for Cavani and Vietto coming.}

(A little bit of a wild card, but here goes. Talks with Barcelona over Kovacic have not really come to any useful conclusion and no one seems interested in putting any sort of acceptable offer on the table for him Inter need to sell a couple of midfield players to bring in the replacements they want - like Liverpool they are constrained by previous spending and the FFP rules. So, Inter now say they will keep Kovacic as no deal seems possible, and will make another player available - so I will throw the name of Brazilian Hernanes in to the ring as a player Liverpool might well consider. I appreciate that at 30 he is far from young, but he would be a very worthy free kick taking, goal scoring central midfield addition to the squad - and one to ably replace Gerrard. He is available and will be at a price that would suit Liverpool.)

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City and Manchester United are interested in Matuidi and PSG need to sell to raise funds, but whilst the player is keen to stay in Paris his agent has made it clear that he will listen to offers from England. Arsenal has also enquired about his availability.

Liverpool has shown no interest

{Ed002's Note - Griezmann only moved last summer, and Atletico has no intention of selling unless a very significant fee is offered. Whilst Griezmann has said on a number of occasions that he has no plans to leave Spain anytime soon, he has said he would be interested in a move to Chelsea if the opportunity arose.

Chelsea would need to pay more than his release clause to make any such deal happen, but with interest in other players not looking fruitful, I expect them to make an offer for Griezmann. Atletico have a replacement in mind.

Both PSG and Bayern Munich would also be very interested if he became available - but I doubt that PSG will be in a position to do any sort of deal, even though they are desparate for a high-end French player, and Bayern Munich are looking to him for a specific role that they have another player in mind for.}

{Ed002's Note - Nainggolan still has some complex co-ownership issues which once fully resolved will see offers from at least Manchester United and Manchester City, whilst Roma look for a new deal. He has a stupid enough hairdo to fit in nicely at Liverpool, but there has been no interest

Liverpool has no interest in him

{Ed002's Note - Kondogbia has had varying fortunes since moving to Monaco and whilst they were willing to let him move on both in the summer and, if the price was right in January, the only interested clubs have immediately back down for financial reasons. Monaco has FFP problems which are a little worse than those of Liverpool. They will certainly be looking to sell players this summer. Manchester City have a firm interest in Kondogbia as a possible replacement for Yaya Toure. Chelsea and Arsenal may well rekindle their interest in Kondogbia - but both will look to other players first.}

{Ed002's Note - Alonso will not be returning to Liverpool this summer.}

1.) 22 May 2015 19:11:50
Thought there was a bid in for Vidal and it was our usual embarrassing half price bargain bin offer, which serves to alienate the sellers and at the same time looks to placate fans wanting marque signings

2.) 22 May 2015 23:59:43
media-hype man

3.) 23 May 2015 03:22:54
Great update. If we get Milner, it feels like we're in no great urgent need so we can afford to go for deals only if make real sense rather than panic buys. Lucas for Kovacic maybe? Then we can also sell Allen.

Hope Milner doesn't choose Arsenal or somewhere else now given the shambles of the last few weeks.

4.) 23 May 2015 08:40:05
What worries me is that with Lucas allegedly going, we'll have no effective defensive midfielders. Rodgers will persist with this wretched 3-4-3 formation with Can at centre back, meaning that Joe Allen will be the midfield anchor. Teams will literally run through us for fun. As they're doing now.

5.) 23 May 2015 15:55:50
What about mitrovic??? I know you guys think a lot of him and believe he is exactly what we are missing !

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Anderlecht's Aleksandar Mitrović from Borussia Monchengladbach, Manchester United, Swansea, Dortmund, Newcastle and Eintracht Frankfurt. The interest of Leicester and Bayern Munich seems to have gone, but Arsenal may just look again at the player - depending on which direction they wish to go given their first choice as opted to moved elsewhere. The interest from Manchester United is recent and ramping up I am told. Newcastle are likely not an option.

I think he would be a good fit for Liverpool, but there is no interest right now. Aleksandar Mitrović offers everything Liverpool are missing - he is young, strong, fit, good in the air and he scores goals. In a way he is like a traditional centre forward. Unlike Manquillo, Moreno, Sakho and Gerrard, he speaks fluent English. People who have met him have said he is likeable and is reliable and will do what he is told. He would also likely slot straight in to the first team squad. Lambert perhaps at his best and 10 years ago or so would be the closest Liverpool have. }

22 May 2015 17:41:32

{Ed002's Note - Kyriakos Papadopoulos' contract runs another year after this. There was previous interest in Kyriakos Papadopoulos from Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Dortmund but all of these clubs walked away due to cost or injury and they all purchased other centre backs. Recent interest is from Atletico and at Bayer Leverkusen who have him on loan. I don't understand why the Liverpool fans are asking about him again (you are not the first) - perhaps this is something in a newspaper or on Twitter, but I am not aware of interest at this time - particularly from a club that is overrun with centre backs. The club already has well respected young centre backs like Lloyd Jones and Paez who cannot get in to the side in addition to first team centre backs Kolo Touré, Lovren, Sakho, Skrtel and loaned out Coates and Ilori. If Rodgers just wants padding for the squad, it strikes me as an odd choice - but with Kyriakos Papadopoulos you do get a lot of padding for your money. I would be a little surprised if Liverpool were looking at him again, but not totally surprised if Rodgers were to simply spend more money for what appears to be the sake of it. Again, and I don't like talking about "injury history", but Papadopoulos has missed something like 22 games already this season and missed pretty much the whole season a couple of years ago. Again, right now he is out for the next three months. Rightly or wrongly, that would concern a lot of clubs and this has led Atletico to drop their interest. Bayer Leverkusen would like to make the deal permanent but are not going to overspend on the player.}

Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any offer for him.}
{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any bid. If either Lovren or Sakho were to leave then perhaps there would be interest. Liverpool are overloaded with centre backs so it makes no sense.}

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not shown any interest in Kjaer

Martin Montoya was looking to stay in Spain despite interest from Bayern Munich and Roma last summer. However, he has had a very poor season and Barcelona will certainly be willing to let him move on. Liverpool have looked at him before and Liverpool may well have returned to Montoya with Johnson leaving and Flanagan being injured, and certainly if Manquillo were to leave this summer then he would be a very viable option - but no deal has been completed as I understand has been reported.}

Folks, I assume because of something in the press, have been asking about Janmaat moving to Liverpool. I don't know of interest but I am pretty sure Newcastle would not want to sell.}

Caniggia wanted Liverpool to move for Balanta more than two years ago - and he has got better. Rogers ignored the advice. He shouldn't have done. If Liverpool need a CB

Darmain is a right back to look out for, but I don't see a move to Liverpool happening

Liverpool has no interest in Clyne

Was looked at but has agreed a mive to elsewhere

Again looked at but any deal unlikely.

The likes of alves and adriano will be expensive and it will most probably end in tears.

He has been looked at by Liverpool and might be a viable option.

I noticed he forget Garbutt at left back, who we are still interested in and he has still not signed a contract.}

And there is no Liverpool interest in mattia de sciglio or Raphael Varane or Alvaro Arbeloa

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid have made it clear that they will consider selling Dani Carvajal this summer as his performances have not been the best in recent months and they already have an agreement in place for his replacement. The player has made it very clear that wants to stay in Madrid - although he may be open to a return to Germany where Bayern Munich have shown some interest. PSG and Manchester City have also both expressed an interest in the player but they are constrained by FFP sanctions still.

Given that Liverpool has not been playing with aright back in recent months it makes little sense to splurge what would be a great deal of money for a player that they already have sufficient cover for on the odd occasion one is required.}

Merry Christmas to all Eds and posters. Especially 001,002 and 033.
Tad bit late, I know test today 😂
Hope everyone's doing well and hopefully we can bring home the title next year.

{Ed001's Note - Merry Christmas Reet, good luck with the test mate.}

1.) 25 Dec 2016 16:08:26
Reet has been writing exams from ages I guess lol. Are you not done with your studies mate.

2.) 25 Dec 2016 19:25:00
It's more of drilling than schooling here, Harry. Takes a toll by the time you graduate.

01 Nov 2016 19:33:31
Aloha People.
I would suggest you all to go check out the Chelsea Rumours Page. Ed002 has written a lenghty note there which I suspect may relate to the exciting thing he was talking about a monthly or so ago. (Believe me it is) . Awesome thing if it works out.

1.) 01 Nov 2016 19:42:13
Is it regarding the Podcast?

2.) 01 Nov 2016 19:56:55
Couldn't see anything Liverpool related I don't think, taken down?

3.) 01 Nov 2016 20:03:33
{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what a "podcast" is. I don't have the time to go in to London to our studio to record anything but my PA assures me that I have all I need to put together a brief audio production in my office - and I had noticed some odd bits of kit she must have borrowed kicking around. If the recording day is right I will likely have a guest on board to help out. Because this will be a sponsored commercial venture I need to allow advertising and will probably need to play songs by some of the popular music combos that you do the watusi to at weekends. Right now I have left Heathrow three times in the past 6 days and am in the middle of travel - a week or two and I will be churning these brief updates out every day or so for different teams. }

Sorry Ed002 for copying.

4.) 01 Nov 2016 20:16:56
Are we finally set to the beautiful ED02 ❤️.

{Ed002's Note - Yes Liverpool will also get their own production.}

5.) 02 Nov 2016 01:57:33
God bless you ed002. And ed001. Truly love this site.

20 Aug 2016 20:52:23
What's peoples thoughs on these rumors of A Chinese Investment Firm Everbright looking to buy a large stake In LFC as part of a conglomerate. Assuming them to be true of course. Rumors now that Fsg have hired Allen and Co to look into it.
I have previously always been averse to the idea of Liverpool being one of "them" but I don't think I would be averse to it if It can bring us success. Because mediocrity is really boring. Or willpeople still prefer Fsg's model which hasn't really bought success irrespective of vast amounts of money being spent.

1.) 20 Aug 2016 21:10:51
In 6 years, despite all the money FSG has pumped into LFC, we have finished in the CL spots on 1 occasion and won 1 trophy.

Yes, we need the financial support.

2.) 20 Aug 2016 21:13:43
The words "investment firm" concern me.
I would like the club to be run efficiently and not accumulating debt. Not bothered who's running the show, I just want the club to be run responsibly.

3.) 20 Aug 2016 21:18:02
I thought Allen had joined Stoke?!

Surely his few years in the team don't qualify him to be able to represent the firm in a potential investment negotiation?!?!

4.) 20 Aug 2016 21:23:02
We all want it to be run correctly but at the same time we all want to win, right now only one of those things is happening.

Fsg are in profit so far this window, they need help financing us.

5.) 20 Aug 2016 21:25:59
Just let it go man. Not in your domain 😂.

6.) 20 Aug 2016 21:36:53
In an ideal world, we'd all love to see FSG bring us great success. Unfortunately football has been destroyed by money, the reality is, to be successful you need vast amounts of funding (granting they've spent a lot of transfers, however we need to be able to match the big teams in wages, which we're unable too) . If a consortium of any shape was to aquire Liverpool or a share in the club, and we're to bring us formidable success, I wouldn't be moaning. We all want to see our club returned to it's former great state and for that to happen we need a formidable amount of funding. We've fell so far behind the big teams not just in Europe but in England, due to Moores and co not taking advantage of the position we was in in the 80's. Let's hope if a takeover or a stake sale is to happen, Henry and co undertake due diligence and make sure we're in good hands with reasonable funding.

7.) 20 Aug 2016 21:47:14
Which one of those things is happening right now Matt, because I can't see any evidence of either.

8.) 20 Aug 2016 21:48:53
its more a change of tactics in recruitment if you ask me. the TC are a holy show. we do spend just unwise with it.

9.) 20 Aug 2016 21:51:38
If there is investment will FSG still not hold the power as in majority shareholding. This investment if true is probably a way of getting a foothold to the Asian market making more money for FSG.

10.) 20 Aug 2016 21:52:30
fsg have made so much money available every window plus propped the club up every month running at a loss, the money has been squandered away every window by incompetent fools Inc managers, not looming much better this time around, if you read what the eds post you will see the vast amount of money they have pumped into the club.

11.) 20 Aug 2016 22:09:28
Money talks; First Chelsea, then Man City and now Man Utd will all buy the PL. Even though Arsenal have consistency and a manager and a style of play, they haven't won the title since Abramovich came and that reason is the spending.

12.) 20 Aug 2016 22:16:48
FSG has made some really bad mistakes (Commoli anyone)
Thing is would a Chinese investment company make better business choices?
It's not a lack of funding or investment that's been holding us back since FSGs takeover it's the people (experts) brought in to run the club mostly. Klopp excluded.

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid to say it is getting very painful reading all of these posts.}

13.) 20 Aug 2016 22:24:47
A partial investment means nothing to club necessarily as the money goes to the owners, not LFC. In FY15, FSG converted nearly £69M of loans into equity as well as loaned the club an additional £49M. FSG are and have been doing their bit, the managers, coaches, players and transfer committee members need to step up their side of things.

14.) 20 Aug 2016 22:27:07
Real AG, you say United, Chelsea and City all buy the league. You've spent hundreds of millions on transfers over the years, you've just bought poorly. That's the issue. Someone said higher up you HAVE to have money to win. Well Leicester proved last season that's not always the case. With the money Liverpool have spent on transfers its criminal you have made top 4 once in 5/ 6 years. Imo, where you have gone wrong is rather than signing maybe two top players to improve the first 11, you buy 7 or 8 average players and bulk up the squad, not really improving your first 11. It's plain for every man and his dog to see your immediate priority should have been LB this season, the amount of goals you conceded down that side due to Moreno last year was unreal. Yet you've spent £25m on the lad from Newcastle who wasn't even needed. You haven't plenty for that position, better than him too. And penny pinch over your LB target. I can't get my head round it.

15.) 20 Aug 2016 22:43:16
I don't think any of us understand it either, Stand. Bit of an odd one, really.

16.) 20 Aug 2016 22:51:25
Stand united your correct in saying we have had the money to spend.

We have spent poorly over the years, but another major issue is that we can't match the wages like yourselves or city.

No way are we paying someone £250,000 a week.

17.) 20 Aug 2016 23:01:32
Embarrassing posts them lads.

18.) 20 Aug 2016 23:29:08
An investment would not be about transfers. Why the obsession with transfers?

China is a huge relatively untapped market for LFC and as such a local partner would be better equipped to tap into potential new revenue streams. That money trickles into the club and eventually onto the field.

It's obviously harder to market a brand without success, so surely any investment would aim to aid future success of our club.

19.) 20 Aug 2016 23:58:16
Lavers, yeh I understand the wages can be an issue for you. Not just about transfer fees. Just feel Liverpool always seem to buy a lot of mediocre players who don't really make the first 11 much stronger, and should try focus on 2 or 3 quality players who will, each season, and build that way. There are players out there who don't demand huge wages. It's a bit early for me to big up our new CB Bailly, but so far he's looked a real improvement on our central defenders, and at 22 has huge potential. He's on £75k a week.

It's clear you have a lot of attacking quality, I just feel your still very fragile at the back. Klopp likes to play from the back, like Barcelona do, and from today's game has clearly instructed this. But for me he doesn't have enough quality in that department to play that way. Anyway, just my opinion that's all. I still think you'll be in the top 4 at least come May.

20.) 21 Aug 2016 00:23:06
Stand they will be mid table at best everton will be the top team in merseyside this season because they will pay the wages and all this we are not going to pay will se liverpool fall further behind you are even behind hull and they only have 13 players.

21.) 21 Aug 2016 00:30:14
Doesn't FFP matter anymore?
Even if a multitrillionaire decided to buy us, we are still bound by FFP.
So there's not going to be any deadline day mega-signing that we keep hearing about. No ambitious player would join our club at the moment anyway, multi billions or not.

22.) 21 Aug 2016 00:37:22
We've got players with speed and technical ability. We've got players with the ability to score goals. But have we got players with the most important ingredient . mental strength. I'm not convinced we have. I think the Europa League Cup Final showed that .
Until we get that mental strength, and losing is not an option mentality, like other top teams have, we'll struggle to compete consistently.
It's up to our Manager to instil that mentality into the players, week in week out!

23.) 21 Aug 2016 01:29:50
Wow, all of this because we lost to Burnley. We were title contenders yesterday.

24.) 21 Aug 2016 05:57:02
Stand united

I can't argue with with ya, I've been saying the same thing for years.

Quantity over quality is our motto as a club, I questioned win album and klaven signings from the start. but what do I know.

25.) 21 Aug 2016 10:25:53
It's all well and good Ron running the club responsibly but you need to get the initial investment to guarantee trophies and champions league every year then you can build from their to gain a more substantial income. Chelsea being a case in point.

A Mickey Mouse club that got investment to be successful now their revenues are higher than ours when they can't even fill their stadium every week. Man City are on the same path but with initially more supporters so can take it further than Chelsea. Success breeds success but unfortunately in this day and age to get the initial success you need the investment.

It's amazing that with our lack of recent success we can still even get within a mile of these clubs financially but with financial investment and success we could take the club to a whole new level.

So long Allen. Such a great having inspired the likes of Xavi and Pirlo to. follow in his footsteps.

Though in all seriousnes a good servant no matter what others think IMO. Never made a fuss about not playing and performed solidly when called up especially last season. Always liked the wee man and would like to wish well in his future endeavors.
Take of that hair in stoke though 😰.

Brad Smith flies home from LFC Tour to complete £6 million pound move to Bournemouth, after agreeing personal terms.

2.) 26 Jul 2016 07:51:54
I do wish him well as you cannot fault his effort or commitment. Did his job without grumbles or moans. He was just one of those wrong Rogers buys, wrong buy for wrong club then over hyped by Rogers and over paid, all going against him unfortunately. That all said he did a job when he played and for that I wish him well.

Wait. Did we accept a bid or something? You talk as if coutinho's last game is coming up.
Perhaps we'll just win the league and he'll stay here till 2021.
But why oh why are you and everyone else for that matter focusing on something 8 months down the line? Why can't we just enjoy the fantastic football we're playing right now instead of constantly worrying about this player and that.
No player is bigger than the club and to use a good man's phrase players are just transient employees.
Besides if he does have a bad game next half the people crying now would go back to saying how he's flash in the min and they'd take decent money for him.

Firmino for now. Though we did overpay for him.
3 years down the line Divock Origi. We have a 20 goal a season striker if he fulfils even half his potential.

Ever since that glorious night at Stamford bridge, it's mostly public now.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what a "podcast" is. I don't have the time to go in to London to our studio to record anything but my PA assures me that I have all I need to put together a brief audio production in my office - and I had noticed some odd bits of kit she must have borrowed kicking around. If the recording day is right I will likely have a guest on board to help out. Because this will be a sponsored commercial venture I need to allow advertising and will probably need to play songs by some of the popular music combos that you do the watusi to at weekends. Right now I have left Heathrow three times in the past 6 days and am in the middle of travel - a week or two and I will be churning these brief updates out every day or so for different teams. }

Sorry Ed002 for copying.
