I heard of a rumour linking us to Porto's 22yr old LB in Rafa Soares. He hasn't even played a senior game for Porto only on loan to Rio Ave last season where he scored 3 goals and 7 assists. Is this some BS?

1.) 15 Jun 2017 11:22:32
The search continues.

2.) 15 Jun 2017 12:48:32
He'd be a great buy if we can get him.

3.) 16 Jun 2017 03:04:35
May be Lijnders know him when he is at porto?

05 Jun 2015 09:29:52
EDs is the report that James Milner joining LFC confirmed?

{Ed002's Note - Subject to a medical and the paperwork being processed he will join at the start of July.}

1.) 05 Jun 2015 10:50:41
It's even on their official website dude.

Erm. Has the match review been posted please ed? Seem to be missing something i'm I?

{Ed001's Note - it has been posted but the autolinks aren't working for my articles so you need to go to football-news-views site to find it. click here for the review there have linked it for you.}

1.) 27 Aug 2018 10:04:13
Good review Ed thank's. You were right about Mane although it's not really like him to be that bad. Just going back to yesterday's debate about Owen I seem to remember you saying that he was more interested in his horse's than the team.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate. Owen was hence the missed games.}

2.) 27 Aug 2018 10:28:28
Excellent review, absolutely nailed it mate.

{Ed001's Note - cheers II.}

3.) 27 Aug 2018 10:44:14
thank you for that Ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome stone.}

4.) 27 Aug 2018 10:45:34
Oh thanks! Really enjoy reading them. Have to admit though that my nerves almost shattered off in the closing mins of the match. 3pts in the bag thankfully. Cheers!

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate. Sorry the links aren't generating.}

5.) 27 Aug 2018 10:50:56
A fair review ed! The best thing for me was the fact we seem to be turning the corner when it comes to winning whilst playing poorly, something united did very well under Fergie, we needed to capitalise on city dropping points because that won’t happen to often! The team seems so much more settled with Alisson in goal although he needs to be a bit careful with being blasé at times, the only team with a perfect start so far this season, that’ll do.

{Ed001's Note - I thought Watford had won 3?}

6.) 27 Aug 2018 10:55:09
I mean because we’ve yet to concede so technically we’re the only perfect team.

7.) 27 Aug 2018 11:27:34
Thanks Ed01 for the review. To be honest, I didn't notice any of those mentioned in the review. I think I'm just a dude who's easily pleased, I enjoyed the game and the previous games so much, I feel that I was blinded to all the other things. I am just too excited. Please this year please.

{Ed001's Note - I do watch twice to see more of it mate to be fair. Not sure how much I would notice on first viewing as i am caught up in the game.}

8.) 27 Aug 2018 12:57:55
Class as always Ed1 thank you very much mate.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Mo.}

9.) 27 Aug 2018 15:05:18
Great review ed, Salah has started this season like he started last season, getting into position but looking wayward with finishing, a few more weeks and he’ll be back to his lethal best. End of last season’s Salah gets a hat trickwith the positions he found himself in imo. Delighted with getting the result though, particularly at a later kick off. A few more and we’ll be on a bit of a roll. It’s dizzy from all the way up here.

{Ed001's Note - he just needs to refind his sharpness, it happens with a lot of players after a break. When you speak to pros, it is amazing how many of them say they feel like they can't even kick a ball properly after the summer break. Quite a few say it takes a few days of training just to feel anything like normal again. They used to say they needed 5 or 6 competitive games, at least, to get the sharpness back and really get up to speed. The fact he already has 2 goals and we have 3 wins as well augurs well for when he is back to his best!}

10.) 27 Aug 2018 15:14:28
So weird with Mane. He was trying and getting up and down like usual, but as you say, just got in the way most of the time. The only time he did the right thing was the pass from Milners tackle for Firmino when we scored. I won't slate the lad for a second because he's been one of the best in the first two matches and will prove to be the difference in future games too. Klopp should've seen it though and replaced him a lot, lot sooner. We'd have scored more if we just had someone who could pass instead of Mane up there. Still, job done. Mane hatrick next game.

Also, Sturridge and Salah will clash I think. They're both too greedy to play together, at least on that performance. Lot's of opportunities for them to work an understanding and an opening for the other one, but both opted to go it alone each time and fluffed it. That's why Mane and Firmino are so vital.

11.) 27 Aug 2018 16:22:33
I'd say Mane is as selfish as Sturridge. And since Mane and Salah got along and get along fine, I see no problem between Sturridge and Salah. The objective is to score goals or assist in scoring goals. Who and how is really a statistic for the end of the season.

12.) 27 Aug 2018 16:15:59
Spot on, I’m very excited about what he’ll do this season. Cheers for that ed.

{Ed001's Note - makes two of us mate! Half my friends have been home to Egypt or to Egypt on holiday the last few months, so I have a lot of Salah stuff they brought me back. So he better play blooming well now or they will have all wasted their pennies!}

13.) 27 Aug 2018 18:13:20
Maybe they are as selfish as eachother, I still think Mane is more likely go for the assist than Sturridge and therefore, is more likely to look for the better option. Either way, having Firmino out on the side isolated him slightly and left two soloists together. I know Salah's trying to get right back in the swing of scoring for fun and Sturridge is trying to make his mark where possible, but they were a head up moment away from securing the match for us. I'm not complaining as we won, it was just an observation.

14.) 27 Aug 2018 18:37:23
Thanks Ed good review. Do you think Milner’s playing the best he has ever played last 6months? Amazing how Klopp improves players but Milner seems to be fitter and stronger than ever.

Gomez has been great. Lovren, one of the best defenders in the world, might struggle to get his regular spot back.

{Ed001's Note - I think he is performing better than I have ever seen him at the very least. And I have watched him hundreds of times since he was in the Leeds academy.}

15.) 27 Aug 2018 18:49:56
Milner’s 32 Ed. Hopefully we’ll get another 2 yrs from him. I love the fact he gives everything every game and is a leader for us. He’ll be a big player for us this season.

{Ed001's Note - I could see him carrying on for at least 3 more.}

15 Jun 2016 07:51:02
ED01, I miss your review on players performances after each game we play. But I have got one for you.
1. What's your thought on Origi? Why do I feel he should be leading the Belgium line? 15mins cameo seemed to show Lukaku how it should be done.
2. Even if we get a buyer for C. Benteke, do you expect we ll need to add another Striker?
3. Your thought on the impact of a whole-fit season from Captain Handsomeson? The lad has cost us 2 or 3 silverwares imo
4. Do you feel we need a replacement for K. Toure? And who will be you pick?
5. Finally, what do you think is the best solution to our Left Back issue?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - 1. I like Origi a lot, still raw but the boy has plenty of talent. He is way ahead of Benteke and Lukaku. It is not just that he works harder than either, but his touch is a billion times better than Lukaku's. I do not understand how anyone believes Lukaku is all that good, he has all the finesse of a rhino on heat. He controls the ball further than 90% of the players at the Euros can kick it. His movement is poor as well.
2. No.
3. I think he makes a huge difference to the team, it plays better with him. Without him, we have huge gaping holes everywhere. He supports the attacks and protects the back four. Lucas is great at covering the defence, but he doesn't have the legs to get up and down like Hendo. Can gets forward well, but is far too often caught out of position defensively. Milner and Allen may as well not be there when they are in central midfield, they are just missing constantly from where we actually need them to be. We need Hendo fit and firing.
4. No. We already replaced him with the return to fitness of Gomez and hopefully Brewitt will provide emergency cover too.
5. I am not sure there is a best solution. I have not seen an outstanding left back in years now.}

1.) 15 Jun 2016 09:15:25
Thanks Ed for the prompt reply.

2.) 15 Jun 2016 09:46:39
Hi Ed, love the reply, vivid as aways, and apt.

I've been a reader for years, but "rhino on heat" has just got me inspired to register, hopeully to participate too.

{Ed001's Note - glad to have you aboard mate. Like the name too. Though naming yourself after an Everton player's touch is an unusual choice....}

3.) 15 Jun 2016 10:32:16
Cheers mate. Ouch, you're right, I did't think that far ahead, and it's too late for me anyhow.

Also, It seems he's not Everton for long, not sure wha't worse: blue of Liverpool or London? I suppose both have thier likeble days.

4.) 15 Jun 2016 15:19:40
Spot on with Lukaku, Ed. The guy is as poor as they come. Origi showed a lot more life, created more chances with his movement off the bench than Lukaku did while starting vs Italy. Look for Origi to get the start in the next game.

5.) 15 Jun 2016 17:59:48
He chested a ball in the italy game that no lie bounced about 15 yards off him. At that very moment i thought of ed01 and laughed. Surely he must work on those things in training, surely?

03 Apr 2016 05:53:49
Thanks man for the reply. Oh your remark on Couts got me laughing "as he was ripping Walker to shreds. He tied him up in so many knots at one point that Walker looked dizzy". Got to say your choice of word there was BOOM!

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate. :-)

02 Apr 2016 23:43:12
ED01, I have got too requests
1. I would love to read your opinion about the LIV vs TOT as I couldn't watch the match. A lot of hate and appraisal flying around.

2. I wish to read your insight as to why Klopp endured that bumpy ride in his last season at Dortmond. A friend asked me and I had no idea.

Thanks in anticipation

And by the way, thanks for your reply on the Pep G. Question last time.

{Ed001's Note - 1. great to watch, not sure whether it was because or in spite of all the mistakes though! There were a lot of poor performances from our defence, Clyne and Moreno were utterly woeful once again. Mignolet is still unable to use his feet to kick the ball. I am sure Klopp must have had his tongue in his cheek when he suggested Migs was intelligent, only intelligence doesn't try and hoof the ball for Joe Allen to contest in the air! Sakho had a stinker, they know he takes chances on the ball and they surrounded him and put him in trouble constantly, which led to loose passes, in the first half. Mind we did the same to Dembele, but he was in a less dangerous area, so it was less of an issue for them, but he did struggle to maintain possession too. So it was obviously something both managers had looked at and target a player who looks to hold on to the ball and play out of trouble.
Actually, I think that was a big part of why it was so good to watch, both teams tried to play their football on the ball, and press hard off it. It certainly caused a lot of errors. We created a fair few chances against the best defence in the league, and always looked like we would score. Just a shame our defence is shaky. The problem we have is that far too many of our players commit to needless challenges, throwing themselves in when they should know better and try and jockey the player. Milner in particular is terrible for it. For someone with so much experience and so willing to run around, he far too often picks the lazy option of throwing himself into a challenge that he is never going to win. Sakho was another one yesterday, constantly committing himself trying to win the ball, when he needed to just hold back sometimes. Lovren did it just once and it created the gap Kane needed to equalise. Lovren was excellent other than that. Covered the rest of the defence time and time again. Just a shame his only error was the one punished, as he deserved better from yesterday.
Oh and Coutinho was excellent yesterday, he just never saw enough of the ball, as he was ripping Walker to shreds. He tied him up in so many knots at one point that Walker looked dizzy.

2. it was many things, from injuries, losing too many of their best players and others losing focus as they had big moves lined up and it just being time to move on. There were so many big players being lost each season that eventually it was going to catch up on them. They ended up with a team of players that were there just to get a move elsewhere, rather than wanting to play for Dortmund. That always ends up causing issues, just ask teams like Newcastle and Wigan.}

1.) 03 Apr 2016 11:50:00
Losing how many if there best players? Lewondowski?

They had lost gotze the yesr before and replaced him with mikky and finished in th3 top 3.

Apart from weigl tuchel had managed a much better campaign with th3 same team that klopp had.

My view is klopps system became found out snd he didn't have answers counter .

Ed002 has already stated his style was fiund iut and i echo that.

{Ed001's Note - you are entitled to your opinion, but you are missing the injuries out in your assertion. Sorry but Ed002 is quite simply wrong, the style was not found out, it does not take 6 seasons to find out a style. Especially as he evolved it every season to suit the players he had. If you had actually watched them, you would have known he was not playing the same style that season as he did the previous one. If anything, the change of style could have contributed, but it was more down to injuries and a slow start allied to the loss of the best finisher in the game.}

2.) 03 Apr 2016 20:35:51
well said ed it really annoys me when people try to piss on a guys legacy, what klopp achieved at Dortmund was incredible and those Dortmund supporters won't be shy in showing there gratitude on Thursday that's for sure.

{Ed001's Note - they adore him there still, they were desperate for him to stay and were fully behind him even when the side started badly.}

22 Mar 2016 14:45:07
Ed01 whilst I do rate PEP G. highly, I still couldn't agree more with this assessment of yours "As a coach it is difficult to leave out Pep Guardiola. He does need to prove himself with lesser teams, and to take teams forward over a long period, to be fully sure he is great. I do wonder if he is that good, Barcelona slid back under him and now Bayern are doing the same".
I really want to get further insight into the Barcelona and Bayern slid you talked about here. Thanks in anticipation.

{Ed001's Note - they have gone backwards in his time with them. His first season was his best, by his final one the team are no longer playing as well as they did. Each time they started off light years ahead of the rest only to slowly get worse under him. He took on a team with no comparable equals in Germany, that were playing incredible football, and has turned it into a team that are now only slightly ahead of the competition. At Barca he did the same. Walked into a great team that had a few issues, sorted those issues and made them play great football, but gradually the football got worse until he jumped ship.

The day he stays and completes a successful rebuild, instead of running away when things get tough, is the day when he can claim greatness.}

1.) 22 Mar 2016 16:32:05
looks like man city are in need of major surgery ed001, imo if he does not win the cl with Bayern he has failed, and having seen how lucky they were against juventus I cannot see that happening, this discussion about managers/ coaches is interesting because in the premier league we have so many different types, he won't get it all his own way in England that's for sure.

{Ed001's Note - this will be a test of him, but he will have the full backing of the richest club in the history of football.}

2.) 22 Mar 2016 16:54:00
Why would anyone rate a coach as a top "coach" that has taken 2 teams backwards one after another. He will be found out very quickly in my opinion.

3.) 22 Mar 2016 17:53:27
What about Pochettino Ed01? I have read various reports. statements about his ways as a manager and the small details he looks to change etc. I know he hasn't done much as a manager as yet but what are your thoughts on him and where he could get to with time?

{Ed001's Note - he is a disciple of Bielsa, less mad but still a hard taskmaster. Poch can become a great, but he has to show he can make a team last a full season, rather than fade.}

4.) 22 Mar 2016 17:30:34
Would you rate Enrique of Barcelona then ed1? He's clearly got Barcelona back on track on probably the leading team in world football now? Or is it just an easy (easier) job with the players at his disposal?

5.) 23 Mar 2016 02:06:26
Enrique, i wasn't sure about when he first started. But i was thinking the other day. At the moment i think the current Barcelona is better than peps barca, Taking messi out of peps Barcelona the goals they used to score were tap ins, pass it across and tap it in, Villa had a few nice goals but was sold.

Barca still score a lot of tap ins but MSN all score sublime goals. Messi has stopped going past 10 men all the time now, still gets a few nice solo goals but he doesn't need to anymore. We all know how good Luis is and Neymar i think has really grown into playing for Barca.

The way those 3 interact with each other is on another level. They have great synergy. At times it's like oh just pass the ball up to those 3, they will score all the goals for us.

6.) 23 Mar 2016 04:35:20
Kind of like when we had Borini, Lambert and Balotelli!

{Ed001's Note - exactly, when you have 3 of such ..... quality .... you can just leave them to sort themselves out and worry about the rest of the side. Enrique was not the one who made the change to put Messi right and Suarez down the middle. That was the players on the pitch themselves. Now that is also good management, because he led them to water and let them not just drink, but realise why they should drink. The only issue is whether that is his intention or he just got lucky?}

7.) 23 Mar 2016 06:04:26
I think Coutinho, Firmino and Llalana are similar in some ways because they are all so adaptable and starting to feed off each others skill and movement (albeit obviously a different level vs MSN) . Given time, my sense is they could become a very dangerous unit.

We could do a lot worse than just let those three get on with it in attacking midfield and worry about the Defence, midfield (although looking good with Can and Hendo there) and striker.

He is so not coming back I reckon.

GW is not yet a LFC player and you are already mentioning him. There is no confirmed interest in the first place. Whatever you feel or read from the tabloid becomes news. The lad is useless and I'm sure Klopp is well aware of that. GW and Sissoko are not confirmed targets.

Personally feel his time has come! But I have to wonder if any top side will risk taking him after the boot though. He looks uninterested these days and will rather make throw the scape goat under the bus to preserve his ego and has even made Woodward the enemy though I have to question his decision to hire MOU in the first place. He thinks its "too expensive to sack him" but we aren't talking about Burnley (with respect) here. For the love of the game, you have to feel for those who pay their hard earned money to watch that dross esp yesterday. But what a time to be a LIV fan!

Shrewd buy given MIGs was almost double of that figure. never judge until a player's got a run of games under his belt. Well done Karius and long may it continue. But wait. we will regret it if we let Migs leave! Lol.

In my own dream, my third eye saw a 4-1 win to us in one of the legs. I went yippy and found its 2 days before the match. I'm not afraid though as I think we are well capable of progressing. I'm a believer! YNWA.

City are not unbeatable as the likes of CP and Huddersfield has revealed. Even with the said players on the pitch for them, we can beat them anyday bro. I can put my money on that!
