Hi Eds. Are we linked with any DM's should Lucas be sold?

jim127

{Ed002's Note - Can.}

1.) 02 Jul 2015 10:44:40
Haha. I really hope we put up the money get this kid, he will be perfect to play behind Hendo & Milner.

In other news, now that we have Clyne a buyer is being sought to flog our right-back Emre Can to. He's rubbish. ;)

2.) 02 Jul 2015 16:31:57
Yes, i want the RB version flogged off and would gladly sign the DM or CM version of Emre Can. Oh wait, he`s already here.

24 Jun 2015 12:09:53
if you could go back to May, with the knowledge that Sterling would definitely leave, would you have preferred Liverpool to sign Depay or Firmino?

jim127

1.) 24 Jun 2015 12:32:33
Firmino has been consistently one of the top performers in (in my opinion) the strongest league in the world.

Depay has had one good season for the best team in a very weak League.

There is no comparison. Firmino is an established talent whilst Depay is still a kid with everything to prove.

2.) 24 Jun 2015 12:56:09
I agree ems and don't forget firmy is still only 23 too.

3.) 24 Jun 2015 13:19:29
I think it is aswel who each club needed.

Man u needed depay and we needed firmino, I think the other way around would of been bad for both ckubs although they both would of signing good players.

HI ed.

What do you make of Gerrard's claim that he wished that he had met Rodgers earlier in his career so he could have won more trophies? Was this just a bit of PR or do you genuinely think that he believes in Brendan? I don't remember him ever saying anything similar about Rafa/Houillier

jim127

{Ed001's Note - he has said many similar things about the other two. Saying Rafa is the best manager he has ever worked with and Ged is a father figure to him etc. It is just PR, he was only saying the other day that Rodgers should be explaining why he is still in the job when his assistant is gone.}

1.) 17 Jun 2015 15:53:12
Gerrard Loves LFC. He will always say right things about LFC and its managers, which may not be true.

2.) 17 Jun 2015 17:58:01
To be fair when he said that about the assistant managers ed, I thought it sounded like he was saying Rodgers was being hampered by something last year?

{Ed001's Note - there is no way he would have asked Rodgers to come out and stab his friends in the back. He was clearly saying that Rodgers should explain why he chose not to go with them I believe.}

3.) 17 Jun 2015 23:51:16
Only you felt that, OG. It was clear that SG was asking a question anyone with half a brain cell who knows footie would ask. What the owners did was just cowardly and nowhere else would this have been done because I have never heard of such BS in all my 30 plus years of watching footie. He put BR on the spot but I won't hold my breathe for an answer because no answer would make sense.

Hi Ed

Was referred to this site by a mate and already hooked to this site. Having read through your recent posts where you would be against Dzeko for example and whilst being impressed with him, you aren't too bothered by another CM in Kovacic, i'd be really interested to know which realistic signings, you would like to see us make this summer.

jim127

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you mean about Dzeko. I am not aware of any Liverpool interest.

If it were down to me, I will stick by my previous selection:

GK: Handanovic (to replace Mignolet)
RB: Darmain (considered to be a replacement for Ivanovic at Chelsea if he fails to extend)
CB: Balanta (Caniggia wanted Liverpool to move for Balanta more than two years ago - and he has got better. Rogers ignored the advice. He shouldn't have done. No chance now.)
MF: Matuidi (but there is some baggage), Morgan Sanson (would be a great buy and available at a decent price)
F/W: Mitrovic (I don't see a long term future for Lambert and Mitrovic would give Liverpool a very good option that they are missing right now. Rodgers will regret using the words "Origi" and "world-class" in the same sentence.)

1.) 14 Jun 2015 15:43:44
That post simply reiterates the fact that Liverpool need Ed002, if not as manager then as chair of the transfer committee.

2.) 14 Jun 2015 15:46:51
I was referring to one of your responses where you said that Dzeko is woeful. Thanks for the response. Not too familiar with those guys but a quick google suggests they have potential.

{Ed002's Note - I don't recall saying "Dzeko is woeful" but if Manchester City offer a striker to Liverpool it will likely be someone else.}

3.) 14 Jun 2015 15:55:52
You have a go at us being unrealistic then you come up with Matuidi. No chance

{Ed002's Note - Even though Matuidi signed a new deal not so long ago he would have been made available in a straight exchange for Sakho in January - Sakho had made PSG aware that he was unhappy at the club whilst at Clairefontaine last November. Since then Sakho has gotten back in to the Liverpool side and is settled and staying.}

4.) 14 Jun 2015 15:57:03
Ed002 get on that transfer committee. Make our summer

5.) 14 Jun 2015 16:00:22
Could you care to tell us who ed2?

{Ed002's Note - Negredo is being offered around by both Valencia (who have an option to buy) and Manchester City.}

6.) 14 Jun 2015 16:13:11
Ed2 talking about Man City strikers do Liverpool hold an interest in any? I have heard we are interested in Jovetic any truth?

{Ed002's Note - No. Roma and, particularly, Inter Milan are interested in taking Jovetic back to Italy, perhaps initially on loan. His time in England has been plagued by injury and an inability to settle. Juventus have dropped their interest and moved on.}

7.) 14 Jun 2015 16:13:40
Sorry,it was Ed001 who said Dzeko is woeful.

8.) 14 Jun 2015 16:19:25
Ed002 which striker do you think Man City would offer to Liverpool? Jovetic perhaps?

Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - See above.}

9.) 14 Jun 2015 16:34:54
ed002,is jovetic someone else you are referring to above if manchester city offered a striker in the deal?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

10.) 14 Jun 2015 16:42:51
Ed002, aren't Valencia obliged to buy Negredo? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - They have an option to buy him. Manchester City is offering him around as are Valencia.}

11.) 14 Jun 2015 16:47:11
Negredo is the Striker they are looking to move on chaps. Viable option for us Ed if he was offered? Or has he been offered already to us?

{Ed002's Note - Read the original post.}

12.) 14 Jun 2015 16:48:10
Would love matuidi from p.s.g.class.

13.) 15 Jun 2015 05:06:10
Yeezy season approaching ! ^^

14 Jun 2015 10:26:17
Hi Ed.

Is Montoya or Clyne the more likely to happen?

jim127

{Ed002's Note - I still don't see RB as a priority and for now would not hold my breath over either moving to Liverpool.}

1.) 14 Jun 2015 10:53:00
Looking likely that the club will give Manquillo and Wisdom a fair chance if a RB does not come in. Decent decision on the club's part to at least give two young a players a chance than flogging them like they have done with so many players before.

2.) 14 Jun 2015 11:10:20
Right back should definitely be a priority in my opinion. Emre Can did his best covering there last season, but was pretty poor in all honesty. We had to play a back 3 to compensate for not having a right back and almost every player has been played at right wing back, but still that area of the pitch is a problem.

Could Wisdom be the one to solve the problem? Who knows, but it's definitely an area that needs addressing.

Red Rum

{Ed001's Note - it just makes it all the more idiotic selling Kelly.}

3.) 14 Jun 2015 11:20:46
I agree ed. Kelly is a decent player.

Red Rum

4.) 14 Jun 2015 11:43:47
If RB isn't a priority expect that to be the next signing we make.

5.) 14 Jun 2015 11:07:54
Can I ask Ed, do you think rb is not a priority because the club may continue to develop and play manquillo, or because Can may play that role, or just that other positions are a more urgent priority?

{Ed002's Note - The manager has not been playing with a RB as such and has Manquillo, Wisdom, Toure and Flanagan who can play there. Alternatively Wisdom, Can and Toure can play on the right side of a back three.}

6.) 14 Jun 2015 18:50:16
Yet we have ended up with Ibe, Sterling, Marko and Can playing RWB, none of whom are defenders. BR's brilliance knows no bounds.

It was a small sample but Origi looked like a perfect fit for Brendans system. Very mobile and he can play. A lot of potential there

do you not feel that Wisdom would flounder many an attack though? Full backs in the modern game need that ability on the ball, and helping to provide width in attack.

jim127

{Ed001's Note - he is good on the ball and can provide support for the attack in a similar way to Azpilicueta at Chelsea. You don't have to be an auxiliary winger to help out an attack. Most of the time modern full backs get forward far too early and block up space for an attack anyway.}

Do you think Liverpool would be better off, playing Wisdom at CB rather than RB?

jim127

{Ed001's Note - not for me, no. I think he is better as an old fashioned full back who can actually defend first and foremost.}

Whilst we have othet priority positions in the team to fill,missing the opportunity to sign Kovacic will only add to the significant disappointment around the club atm.

Does this not contradict an earlier statement from you saying a deal had been agreed?

jim127

{Ed002's Note - To some extent it does. Inter, whilst agreeing the fee with Liverpool, have not stopped looking for another bidder (Arsenal have been approached) and have continued to offer Hernanes to clubs - the latest being as part of a transfer for another player. As I have said - there have been some disparaging words said about Liverpool's dealings in this matter - and that won't have helped. If the proposal for Hernanes is accepted, then it would not be a surprise to see Inter take Kovacic off the market. For now, it remains a wait and see situation.}

So this suggests that you think that Benteke won't be joining us. Reading your response regarding Baccas clause, and how they don't have to sell abroad/ bacca is happy at Sevilla, i can only assume that Rondon is the most likely arrival of the three, in your opinion, Ed?(. and breathe )

jim127

{Ed002's Note - You are simply making this up.}
