6 league games in, first game after a 3 week international break, most in form player out, 2 main strikers out, best player from last season out.
Against a team with no injuries, a 100% record, siege mentality after cheating verdict and a deep squad built on cheating.

Yeah, we lost, we fell apart after a red card.
This is not our ceiling, this is a team still adjusting to a new regime with multiple injuries in key positions.
Chill out, give Iraola a chance.

Amen to that Ron.

11 Oct 2026 22:05:11
Yeah agree with that ron, thought there plenty of positives before ridiculous red card all things considered.

11 Oct 2026 22:19:35
I'd have to disagree with you unfortunately Ron. I understand the points you are making about the need to be positive but after today I can't see us being involved in anything other than a top 4 battle this season.
The draws against Fulham, Forest and Newcastle have done a lot of damage.

We just looked toothless in attack so that's why I find it very hard to be positive.
Even with Isak and Gakpo on the pitch those days we just lack any excitement of going forward.
I fear for Iraola and I can't see him lasting the season if this patchy form continues.

{Ed666's Note - judge Irola when he has tools to do the job. It’s like giving him a tablespoon to do brain surgery at the moment..

12 Oct 2026 13:15:59
Did you think we were going to be involved in the title race Mayo?

11 Oct 2026 18:58:52
Evil has prevailed unfortunately. grav being sent off was the ending for us. does anyone know what's even wrong with szoboslai because we needed him more than ever for this game.

Red changed that game today completely, I was pleased and proud of that performance up until then, state of the refereeing continues to get worse in my eyes.

We won the first 62 minutes and then Kavanagh finally got what he wanted and sent off Grav. A great example of a ref ruining a perfectly good game.

11 Oct 2026 19:32:55
100% he has always been poor and shocking that he was even given this game.

12 Oct 2026 19:13:15
Kavanagh consistently gives poor decisions against us. He is from Greater Manchester. I know someone who knew him when he was coming through as a young ref in the local Manchester leagues. He said he is 100% a Manchester United fan and always has been. But he told the PGMOL at the time that he supported Stockport, or someone like that.

His brother is also a season ticket holder at Manchester City. I am absolutely certain that a City player would not have received yellow cards for either of the challenges Gravenberch made. The fact that Kavanagh gets anywhere near games involving Manchester clubs is a disgrace.

11 Oct 2026 18:36:07
Proud of the players that were playing, up until the ref Cheated us again

But I've got to say, we've got some players in this squad that Hide way too much! Today was a massive day for football, especially Liverpool, and yet again Isak is missing, Szobo hiding behind an injury, Gakpo hiding because he was linked with City in summer.

We've got cowardly players in this squad. That bench was atrocious. Man City turned up today, full squad, all ready to face the music, take the punishment. And half our Squad was too scared to play with slight Knocks and Strains.

It's a really difficult group to like this Liverpool Squad. It's littered with Cowards.

I agree lfc8 as regards the sending off changing the game, 50-50 until that. Thought we gave as good as we got until then. Postives where grav looked back to his best until red card and munoz v good. back 4 looked reasonably solid until sending off as well.
On the negative end we've no cohesion going forward at all, no link up play and don't really look that dangerous.

Wirtz is getting worse by the game, offers nothing.
I would disagree with u as regards the injured players, gakpo on end of a serious bad tackle and we be lucky if he only misses a game r 2. szobo I can't remember him missing a game threw injury since he signed, always available.

11 Oct 2026 19:07:45
Slightly unfair mate, Gakpo and Isak were injured on international duty and it was known they would miss today's game, Szob runs himself into the ground each game so to say he was hiding today again when injured is a stretch! I can accept criticism of the players on the pitch hiding after we went to 10 men but not players who have been left
Out by the coach and medical team.

11 Oct 2026 19:29:03
The three players are injured.

11 Oct 2026 19:34:57
I was genuinely excited when we signed Wirtz.

All last season and the beginning of this season, I would think that "he'll settle in". But it looks like I've been hoping in vain. He brings hardly anything to the game, apart from the odd "cute" touch. Cannot control a ball, cannot pass, cannot shoot and the only end product of his game is the opposition gaining possession. Makes the odd half-hearted press and pulls out of tackles. Really disappointing.

12 Oct 2026 06:18:06
LFC08 is joking about the players "hiding" behind injuries, right? I can't read that as anything else except satire.

11 Oct 2026 18:27:55
Result aside I felt we played well up to the sending off! Red card was soft and completely changed the game, not just one soft yellow but two, not going to start on conspiracy theories and refs are cheats but on any other day Grav finishes that game so ultimately the ref has badly changed the outcome of the game.

Finally I think the crowd were amazing, the singing, booing and chants for cheats whenever the city player touched the ball was great to see!

Very disappointed today. Injuries didn't help and red card is harsh but we collapsed like cards in the wind. Weak mentality wise. Never controlled any momentum in the game. Disjointed, directionless and leadership.

Weak mentality. Struggling to find any shape or pattern. As bad as any Slot team performance. Barcola, wirtz and macca very disappointed by. A real poor day at the office and I don't see any positives going forward.

I thought we were really good up until the red card. Without some key players too-Dom, Isak/Hugo, Gakpo, Bradley all start that game if fit.

It easy to say fold when watching from the sofa. I expected better myself but that city team are one hell of a talented bunch. They controlled the game down a man at OT, let alone up a man.

I was proud of the performance up until the red. Could of done with one of Isak/Gakpo/Isak to finish a move.

11 Oct 2026 19:32:51
I thought we matched them up until the red. With half a team of starters missing. City imo will win the league this year. Bit of perspective.

11 Oct 2026 20:43:24
We weren't very good at any point. No sustained momentum or any real chances created.

11 Oct 2026 18:20:12
The long and the short of it boys is we are light years behind Arsenal and Citee even if they are cheating persons.

Edwards and Hughes have destroyed everything that Klopp built, unfortunately its going to take at least 3 windows for Iraola to get the sort of team and squad that he feels can challenge so there's going to be more and more days like today before we start to see something half decent we have some very good players but some absolute donkeys too I don't have to name names.

Sending off changed the whole complexity of the game as we were completely on top up to that point but we'll never know will we but it just shows that our options off the bench are very very poor ah well we just move onto the next game it is what it is.

You can blame the ref all you want. It was stupid of grav. Grav was playing well today. Our squad depth isn't there.
Chewy said something ridiculous about my man city stance. That club is still operating the same and it's still currently affecting every competition they're in and every competitive team they face.

Their should be no man city team on any pitch until they're operating like everyonelse. Horrible club.

11 Oct 2026 18:26:08
I agree with everything you said apart from the Grav bit. Both of Grav's challenges were nothing, and neither warranted a yellow card. The ref purposely set out to take him out of the match because he's clearly got his cheaty pants and sock on, knowing full well that we have no one near good enough to replace him.

We don't have the squad to compete, that goes without saying. It's embarrassing that cheaty's manager and the players are going around like Cheshire cats like they've won the league.

11 Oct 2026 18:27:03
Our paths will cross again and again! football was the loser today.

YNWA Andoni.

11 Oct 2026 19:36:07
Grav was very good today. And unlucky.

11 Oct 2026 18:13:01
The referee gave two yellow cards for things that were NOT yellow cards. We were the better team and have now lost.

Yes I, and anyone with a handful of brain cells, will blame the referee.

11 Oct 2026 17:59:02
Well looks to be ending a pumping.

Not enough quality to actually score and ref letting some weird challenges go and then gravs first yellow was nothing. Mad that he took that second foul when on a yellow

Disappointing to see the cheats win.

I think the Wirtz experiment needs to end now. I would try Grav there (when he's back). He can beat a man in tight spaces and I think he will do a way better job. Hughes and co messed up the team btw. I hope we know exactly what we need to buy and get rid of going forward.

11 Oct 2026 18:31:11
I don't blame wirtz when he can cleary do it for his country, that's on us to fix.

11 Oct 2026 18:36:56
Grav can't pass well enough to be a 10 reallifered.

11 Oct 2026 18:58:41
@DeanW he hasn't done it for his country consistently for ages but against lesser teams he has a performance here and there.

@Jack I actually think he would be better passing higher up the pitch because players will be closer to him and, he can turn, be intricate and I think he would shoot more often too.

11 Oct 2026 19:37:17
Be nice if he could control a simple pass without it bouncing 10yds as well.

11 Oct 2026 21:06:25
Reallifered, if you think it, then he must be able to pass well then. Not seen any proof of this myself. He could have passed today instead of shooting.

{Ed666's Note - ordinarily if he wasn’t under so much pressure and everyone saying he needs to shoot more I think he would have slipped that ball through and it would have been an excellent chance for us to score but because he wants to impress and he’s got a target on his back he tries to score which was obviously the least desirable option. I’m not writing him and Barcola off yet as there’s plenty of game to impress. But if his level stays as it is then he has to go in the summer no if’s or buts.

11 Oct 2026 22:02:04
Ed666, I was referring to Gravenberch not Wirtz. I really hope Wirtz can turn the corner, he looks like a player with zero confidence. I used to blame the lack of movement for Wirtz being ineffective, but there was movement today.

{Ed666's Note - Oh sorry mate I thought you meant Wirtz.
