Been super impressed with Guehi, efficient and fuss free, plays on left side and quick for a team that plays a high line….

Agree5 Disagree0

Agree. A top class player in the making. Expensive but it’s a 10 year investment.

Best England player so far. Not hard I know.

25 Jun 2024 22:00:02
He’s terrible in the air and short for a centre back, plus there’s the English tax.

25 Jun 2024 22:01:55
Thought he was average and almost gave a goal to the other team. Would be torn to shreds once decent competition emerges.

25 Jun 2024 22:16:31
He didn't almost give a goal to the other team. It was miles away from goal when he misjudged that ball.

25 Jun 2024 22:29:03
Well that’s ok then Rigsby lucky it was the 6 foot 4 guy not mbappe as that would have been that, playing 3 games against mediocre opponents I could have played that match and looked half decent.

25 Jun 2024 22:47:34
colonel, I thought you knew it wasn't Mbappe when you said Guehi almost gave a goal away. In your defence, that mask Mbappe is wearing could cause confusion.

Guehi is a good CB but he’s not fully fit or match sharp. He has been playing really well then dropping a clanger in a momentary lapse of concentration or by making a poor decision.

Against Denmark it’s been totally glossed over, but he ran the ball down a blind alley that resulted in a throw in, in the defensive third. That pressure led to their goal as England never cleared their lines from his initial mistake. Last night he also played a loose pass straight to their attacking midfielder which resulted in a chance being conceded. He also got caught wrong side after indecision on the half way line and had to take a yellow card for dragging the forward down.

Keep in mind, the guy started 1 game for Palace in the 2nd half of the season after Knee surgery. Southgate is again at fault for picking a player who isn’t fit or in form.

Said it before, i'll say it again, £60m plus Kelleher for Eze and Guehi, half the summer done in one deal.

26 Jun 2024 12:03:09
Guehi is a good CB normally. However, he is struggling in this tournament and looks out of sorts and unfit, IMO.

26 Jun 2024 12:04:42
I’d agree with that MK.

The same goes for Trippier. A right footed, right full back playing left back who was absolutely stinking the place out in the second half of the season at Newcastle. How on earth is he in the squad never mind starting games?

I know we aren’t blessed in the left backs but Gomez played at left back for a large portion of the season in a team that was at the top of the league. Surely it makes more sense to play someone who’s played the position consistently and played it well rather than someone who hasn’t played the position all season and has been absolute garbage in his own position?

We are just fortunate that the teams we’ve played so far have been rubbish and not put us under much pressure. As soon as we come up against an above average team they will destroy that defence.

Guehi has done ok but I fear he will be fed to the wolves as soon as we are put under pressure as he’ll get no help from those around him.

You can add Walker to that as well, BP BUT hey, who are we to speak about these things?

26 Jun 2024 14:15:24
I agree Oli but at least Walker played some games in the position he plays for England in a team that won the league.

Trippier played right back for Newcastle who had a very poor season and he did it very badly. If that’s the level you need to be at to get into the England squad at a major tournament he might as well have picked Philips too. Then he can stop his whining about missing Philips in a back handed way of throwing other players under the bus.

26 Jun 2024 14:28:58
Gomez being second in the pecking order behind Trippier really is madness, BP. Southgate picks players on reputation rather than form.

PatrikBurgher, ya think? It's the MO of the Waist Coat, man. Nobody can explain what he is doing. Not sure he can, either.
