I want to give a quick word for Elliott. I said early on that he isn't quick enough to play every week at RW but his ball control, energy and forward looking play is excellent and feel confident he can add real value this season.

His performances from the bench have been very good this season. His vision and passing is excellent and he is always looking to move the ball quickly. Gives us good options coming on against tired sides.

Lack of pace is his achilles heel so it will be interesting to see how he develops in the next 2-3 seasons. The kid is as down to earth as they come and really loves the fans and the club. I hope he goes on to achieve great things w us. But for now solid squad player and a starter in the EL matches not the PL.

His lack of pace is only an issue if people are expecting him to be some sort of successor to Salah, which he will never be, and that I can state with 1000% certainty. I moan at and bore anyone who will listen that Elliott should look at becoming like Bernardo Silva - a wiry, persistent master of ball control that is very difficult to dispossess and helps us control matches. He’s been excellent so far this season and fully deserves to start on Thursday.

An asset for the squad - a young lad who genuinely looks like he wants to be here and be a part of a squad that is going to win things. I love the kid’s attitude.

And it's the ideal situation for him. Come in and inject life into the side in second halves or whenever needed. No pressure of being a starter. Continue his development. Play the cups.

Has Elliot been left out of the EC squad?

He is twice the player from the bench than when he starts because he is up agsisnt tiring kegs and that helps massively. And that's exactly how you ease young kids into first team. You don't start them from the word go. We did that blunder last season not again.

For me, I see him as a midfielder rather than a right winger. Fair enough he can cover there a bit and that's fine for him to gain experience but I think he will end up more of a number 8 type midfielder and I think he will make a great one at that.

Habibi or Harry first of all, who that foot ball is "We"? Shouldn't you be happy that your club City are off to a flyer? Man, give over.

As for Elliott, saying he has come on and is only good cos he is going against tired legs, is so childish and speaks volumes of your lack of ability to criticise the kid's ability with any substance. So where Newcastle's legs tired when he came on and helped changed the game when we were down a man and down a goal? Yeah, didn't think so. Pathetic.

Oh and one last thing, Elliott does not need pace in midfield since his ability on the ball is top class and due to his press-resistance and improving passing range, the ball does all the running. Also, we did play him in midfield last season and he performed well sometimes in the starting lineup. Just ask Utd when they got 7-Hagged where Casemiro is still lokking for him and at Wolves where Elliott's thunderbolt secured the FA Cup qualification. Not surprised since you don't watch us play.

Lack of pace? He accelerates pretty quick and even on turns is very quick. He might not beat one to one race against the quickest but i think he still is pretty quick off zero.

@Longthing, Harvey, and Baj, were not in the 23 named as the ‘A’ list for the Europa comp. They will be available via the ‘B’ list based on age and having spent two years at the club.

Of course the Newcastle players legs tired when Elliott came on or at least more tired than Elliotts. Just because they played against 10 man Liverpool doesn’t mean their legs were going to be as fresh as someone sitting on the bench! What a strange statement ?‍♂️.

Someone on here the other day saying Klopp is a fool for playing him at centre mid.
He is a very young guy at a very big club and I think Klopp knows exactly what he is doing.
Once his confidence and stature match his ability he’ll be a very tidy premier league midfielder.

@IR wrong again, wise guy. If Newcastle's legs tired after 60 mins playing vs 10 men for 30 or so of those minutes then, they have way bigger problems than I thought. Also, fresh legs does not mean you will have an impact required on the game as that is just another ludicrous take. If you don't have the quality required, your fresh legs are just that. Fresh legs and nothing more. Did you think about that? Of course not. Shocked, I tell ya.

Also, How anyone can say Elliott is only good cos he comes on against vs tired legs this season is ludicrous and pathetic esp since that is not even true as he played well in numerous games he started last season. Not surprised you and Harry agree. On the utter ridiculous. Good Grief!

I think Newcastle visibly tired against us after 60mins, Oli. Elliot and Nunez injected that little bit of urgency in our play that Newcastle weren't able to cope with. So yeah, I would say that Elliot did play against tired legs in that game.

That being said, I don't think Elliot only plays well when against tired legs. He is an exceptionally talented player and I am glad that he's playing for us. If he were in any other team, there will definitely be some calls for us to sign him.

Elliott has been looking excellent off the bench. Good on him.

The searing pace that Elliott's doesn't have is made up by the speed his football brain operates at.
An old saying that Dalglish got hammered into him was that the first few yards are in your head, and I see a lot of that already in Elliott.
All that being said he does look to have more of an impact coming off the bench this season so far, not a bad asset to have if you're chasing the game, is it?

Dracred, As I mentioned earlier. If Newcastles legs were tired after 60 mins playing against 10 men for 30 or so of those 60 mins then, they deserved the humiliation they got from us as that is unacceptable at this level, IMO. That's just the way it is so we're just going to have to disagree on this one, my guy.

Now, I do agree with the rest of your post, tho. Anyone saying Elliott has only done well this season cos he was going against tired legs, is off their rocker and a very lazy and disingenuous way of evaluating his skill set and immense ability on the ball, IMO.

Where exactly did I say that @Oli. I said it massively helps and what’s wrong in it? You keep banging on others like the rest of the world doesn’t know the game.

I’d take tactical awareness - getting to the right place ar the right time - over sheer speed any day. That said, Gary Lineker, as an example, would never be called the fastest thing on two legs but he was extremely quick of the mark - got h8m ahead of defenders and into goal scoring range on lots of occasions, don’t underestimate Elliot’s capability to get ahead of his man.

Elliott has all the talent in the world and could/ should develop into a true star.

My only concern is that it will not be with us, cos as mentioned by another poster, I see him as a Silva type player, which doesn’t suit our system.

Mark my words, he’ll be a superstar in a few years.
