I’d take £150m now for Salah, put Diaz on the right, Nunez on the left, gakpo through the middle, all interchanging like the good old days. Jota, Doak, Elliot (yes he’s def not a midfielder in a midfield 3) as back up. Buy a top top quality CD with half the money and a CDM in January.

Well I will take some of whatever your on WM. If it was you to me he would be with us another 2-3 seasons. But sadly I am resigned to this being his last with us unfortunately.

You would take 150m for Salah now, on August 26th, five days before the end of the transfer window. I’ll just say I’m glad you have nothing to do with LFC transfers.
The levity with which Salah’s influence is treated sometimes just astounds me. This man barely has an off week, let alone a bad season, scores 30 goals more or less every year, gets 15-20 assists yet is still high on people’s lists to be sold. Staggering.
Salah may well leave next year, at which point Liverpool will be prepared (maybe but I’m not holding my breath), and he’ll do so certainly as my favourite ever LFC player and hopefully with everyone’s best wishes. The other attackers in our team aren’t fit to lace Salah’s boots for now.

Diaz is rubbish on the right, Nunez is alright on the left but better in the middle.
I think we would struggle quite badly if we set up like that.

The Saudis have daft money £150m is a fair price we could get from City, Bayern, PSG, Chelsea, Madrid. But to Saudi who want their hero? The most easily marketable player for them? Their only star still at the peak of his ability? With 2 years on his contract? To sell him this money the price is daft money it’s £250m or come back next year and we will sell for £150m. Oh and it needs to be done money in our account by Wednesday or no deal till next summer. That gives us time to pay a big exit clause for someone because you do not negotiate with people when they know you have daft money in your pocket, you pay the price asked or you move on to another player, same for the Saudis you want Salah? We will name our price and it’ll be something daft not something reasonable like £150m that’s just market value and he’s not on the market.

WarMachine, Salah is going nowhere this season, IMO. We should not entertain any offers for him just cos someone waived some cash in our faces and trying to cause havoc in our fan base which is imo, by design.

This is just a distraction and the media are feeding on it and trying to make it sound like we are in disarray esp with people going on about our transfers. Keep in mind, they tried this earlier in the window and nothing happened. Now they are back again putting stuff in the media to get us wound up. Coincidence? Good luck with that.

Also, I have read nor heard nothing about Saudis making an offer yet nor have I heard nor seen Salah and his agent (who btw, can’t seem to keep quiet when it suits him), say a word so posting random nos. that prolly would accept is futile cos there is no real offer to compare to them.

As for who should replace him, I don’t think we should no do that from within nor put pressure on a kid like Doak to replace him cos you’re salivating over the money we could get for him. To me, that is myopic thinking. We should be very judicious on who we get for him when he finally leaves, which should not be this season, imo.

Where would that leave us in January, WM? And we might not be able to buy a top quality CD and a CDM in January.
Selling Salah would be severely weakening the front line to add to the concerns about the defence and midfield.

Salah stays for me, impossible to replace him this window. He is still our best attacker, and his goals and contribution is not easily replaced. If he wants the big pay day I would say to him give us one more year, to allow us to find a replacement.

No player beats Father Time but Salah looks like he’s still in the peak of his powers.

Do we sell arguably our best player to fund a rebuild and lower our wage bill.

I suppose the answer to that is dependent on what we want.

If we want to challenge for the top titles then Salah staying is a huge part of that.

If we want to reduce wages (no idea why as fans) then selling Salah is a huge part of that.

Selling a player as critical as Salah is so close to the window closing would be writing our season off. End of story. We’re not going to be able to use the money wisely enough with so little time to ether replace him or fill in the holes in the squad and all we’ll have done is take 30 goals out of us.

Never hear Utd, Ars or Chelsea fans mention wage bills. don't think i've ever met a City fan to get an opinion.

Everything is now too close to the end of the transfer window. Even £250 million for Salah. He may have an eye on a Saudi move for next season. Saudi poaching continues.

We should be getting a top quality central Defender and a CDM without selling anyone, especially not our best player.

26 Aug 2023 16:26:06
If you're lucky enough in the first place to get some "daft money", and then you go and spend it like it's "daft money", then the definitive thing it says about you is that you in fact are just as "daft".

We bought 9 players with the money gotten from the Suarez sale. And got absolutely nowhere with that. The club has obviously learnt from that. The fans on the other hand, have not. And probably never will.

JK, with the departures of Firmino, Ox, Keita and Milner we've easily reduced our wage bill by 500,000 or so, per week - 24 million per year. Their replacements are clearly not earning as much. I don't think the wage bill is that much of an issue anymore.

wonder were fans dying for barnes to be sold back in the day to get his 10k a week off the wage bill? nuts pool fans are.

Who did we sell first? Suarez to Barcelona or Coutinho to Barca? How did spending that Coutinho money go? Or does that not suit your argument? So the club did learn from the Suarez sale and did miles better with the Coutinho money. I’m not advocating selling Salah I’m just saying that if we were to do so we should be getting crazy money for him and not mere market value. I’m sure you’d agree.

When we sold Coutinho we had still had a few problems in our team, including the need for a top GK, CB, CDM. It wasn’t hard to see how the funds could improve the side, and his departure funded the way for VVD and Salah, with Allison and Fabinho coming in the next season.

Selling Salah now would do what exactly? Maybe if we were buying the likes of a Bellingham, Rodri, Tchouameni or Saka I could see the potential value (all of which are never going to happen of course), but who could we possibly get in the next few days/ weeks that would change our fortunes for the better?

Let’s let him go next year, and make sure we have a clear replacement and/ or game changing transfer lined up to justify losing our best playerIMO.
