Hearing whispers that Liverpool's top target for a left-sided CB this summer is Levi Colwill, but it's a challenging deal. Chelsea demands a record-breaking fee for a defender. If the deal materializes, it'll likely be later in the transfer window, possibly needing the player's intervention.

Ed002, you stated earlier "Liverpool are not one of the clubs who have approached Chelsea about Colwill. " Is it still the case?

Thanks.

One Eyed Monster

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have not approached Chelsea and Chelse has not put a price on him.}

1.) 30 Jun 2023 13:40:20
Record braking fee for Colwill, and you believe this?

2.) 30 Jun 2023 13:45:01
Why would Levi Colwill command a record breaking fee?!

3.) 30 Jun 2023 14:33:46
Colwill is under a longer term contract and is rated by the CFC brass. Poch is hardly going to want his best prospects sold off.
Guess this will come down to the players desire, which FSG and Klopp use well when negotiating. It also helps avoid more Naby type situations (hopefully) .

4.) 30 Jun 2023 14:40:30
Record breaking fee! Walk away sharply!

5.) 30 Jun 2023 15:27:59
Whispers from where? Your imaginary source?

6.) 30 Jun 2023 15:54:46
FSG do not negotiate deals.

7.) 30 Jun 2023 16:17:55
Some bloke on twitter is his source.

8.) 30 Jun 2023 17:49:30
Heinz is the only source.

{Ed025's Note - did your daddies tell you that.. ?

9.) 30 Jun 2023 18:07:39
Careless whispers.

10.) 30 Jun 2023 18:44:23
Levi Colwon’t.

11.) 30 Jun 2023 18:55:18
Class ed25.

{Ed025's Note - cheers FW..

According to very reliable Mohamed Bouhafsi,
"Klopp wanted Pépé. The interest was genuine and high. In any case, Lille President Lopez officially confirmed discussions with Liverpool. But, I don’t know why things didn’t go further.

1.) 29 Jul 2019 18:43:22
Mane and salah stayed.

2.) 29 Jul 2019 20:06:48
OP, The Ed's already said at the time that we were interested in Pepe so no news there, bro.

08 Jul 2019 10:17:06
Harvey Elliott, the youngest player ever to feature in the Premier League, is to join Liverpool this summer. [Telegraph].

One Eyed Monster

1.) 08 Jul 2019 11:12:28
Clyde kindly mentioned this a few days ago.

From what he says he is a Liverpool fan and is very excited to get started!

2.) 08 Jul 2019 13:34:49
Looks a cracking little player needs a few bowls of scouse an some klopp magic dust sprinkled on him, might have another little gem .

3.) 08 Jul 2019 17:54:10
Klopp won't be Liverpool manager by the time he's ready for first team football, bags of potential but still only a kid.

4.) 08 Jul 2019 18:01:42
I am worried, who will be manager?

5.) 08 Jul 2019 19:54:14
Big sam.

6.) 08 Jul 2019 21:41:38
Samuel Tarly?

7.) 09 Jul 2019 03:00:55
From the house Tarly? Nope. Rather will have Tyrion/ Sansa.

8.) 09 Jul 2019 12:19:27
We signed Ki-Jana Hoever at 16 and he's already featured under Klopp, albeit just one game as sub. What makes you think that Elliott wouldn't? If he's good enough, he'll get the odd cameo.

26 Jun 2019 09:28:29
Liverpool set to complete signing of defender Sepp van den Berg, with a medical to take place today. Reds look to have seen off strong late interest from Bayern Munich for the 17 year old, whose preference was to move to Anfield. [Neil Jones].

One Eyed Monster

1.) 26 Jun 2019 20:45:40
He sounds an exciting prospect. Hoping not another Kippe.

2.) 27 Jun 2019 09:28:31
Forde Kippe that name strikes fear into many Liverpool fan's but not in a good way.

3.) 27 Jun 2019 10:07:19
He has been confirmed by Liverpool now.

4.) 27 Jun 2019 10:10:00
This is a great signing. He choose Liverpool or several other big teams. He may not be a name everyone knows, yet, he may not have cost tens of millions but don't be surprised if he gets time on the bench and even minuets on the pitch in domestic cups and the odd leauge game. This lad is talented now he has a chance to show how much.

5.) 27 Jun 2019 10:47:59
Apparently LFC see a lot of Gomez in him at the same age, hope he can kick on like Gomez without the injuries - potentially another great signing.

6.) 27 Jun 2019 12:01:45
Don't understand the move?
We have Gomez, lovren, Matip, all fighting for 2nd CB position, with Youngens like Hoever who performed well, surely Hoever would be ahead in the pecking order after how well he played?

7.) 27 Jun 2019 12:22:12
Matip is 27 and Lovren is 29 in 5 years time Sepp will be 22 do the maths. He could be a potential CB for very little money!

8.) 27 Jun 2019 12:24:30
What? Hoever has played 88 mins of senior football, he's just a kid who's proved nothing at all so far. Van den berg is just 17 too, he became the youngest ever player to reach 10 games in eredivise, . For 1.5 possibly 4 million how does this move not make sense. He might be great he might flop, same as Hoever. But they're 17 years old, players for the future.

{Ed002's Note - He is another schoolboy or will only be allowed to train a limited number of hours.}

9.) 27 Jun 2019 12:43:10
is Hoever not a right back so with them 2 and Gomez if they are to get to the first team. They could be 3 of are back 4 for years to come.

10.) 27 Jun 2019 13:35:50
Think you're right Grino, Hoever's seen more as a right back, played CB in the cup game after Lovren (I think) got injured.

For a CB to get 20 first team games at the age of 17, there must be something about him, as it's not normally a position really young players get regular football.

I'd loan him out for a season. to Killie.

11.) 27 Jun 2019 14:24:36
Ed, what are the restrictions on training for U18’s and is there a requirement for them to stay in education until they are 18?

Also, thinking about the other issue we have discussed, at what stage do they need a T2 or T3 work permit? As in, are youth players given extra leeway to obtain the relevant experience and knowledge required?

{Ed002's Note - There is no point in opening all of this up. It will simply lead to the Liverpool suppoirters looking for ways for the club to cheat.}

12.) 27 Jun 2019 14:42:51
Don't know the kid but I'd imagine he'd pass the English test anyway.

{Ed001's Note - he will have to have learnt English at school, to a level higher than most schools in England require.}

13.) 27 Jun 2019 14:40:51
Hahaha ok, I sense it’s a contentious issue.

Well I’d hope these lads have a decent grasp of the language as it’s taught in most European schools from an early age and if not, the time spent with tutors here while in education brings them up to the required standard quickly to at least check that off the list.

{Ed002's Note - He is from a country where he will have been taught perfectly good English it won't be an issue.}

14.) 27 Jun 2019 16:21:10
Watch his interview, his English is top notch.

15.) 27 Jun 2019 16:20:42
ed002 I keep reading that he will have a chance to train with the first team and be offered a path into the first team. However isn't he under 18 and won't be required to complete his education until he is older than 18.

{Ed002's Note - Well if Liverpool have him training full time and are not meeting his educational needs then they will be well and truly screwed. Maybe Liverpool are above the rules that they have signed up to?}

16.) 27 Jun 2019 19:25:01
How many hours per day of school does he have to do Ed? Is it the same as a normal 17 year old and train in the evening? I seem to remember a couple of years back a club having to get permission from a school for a pupil to travel to an away game.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, it is the same as is required for other CHILDREN.}

17.) 27 Jun 2019 21:04:53
Scandinavian schools teach English to a pretty decent level, in fact a lot of foreign students have a better grasp of the English language than some youngster here. They are taught grammar in a lot more depth making it easier for foreign students to learn a new language.

18.) 27 Jun 2019 21:29:49
You realise ofcourse that Holland is not in Scandinavia, Drogie?

19.) 27 Jun 2019 21:50:59
I have to agree with ed002 we are very ignorant as a country to other languages. Kids in places like Spain etc start learning English in primary school whereas we learn it for what 4 or 5 years at high school and it’s very basic

Was on holiday recently in a resort that was predominately French, Spanish and German. My young daughter loves player with other kids and all conversations we had with their parents had to be in English as I couldn’t understand a word. Felt very ignorant because of it.

20.) 27 Jun 2019 22:22:15
I do.
The Benelux regional counties also speak good English, I referenced Scandinavia as I worked for a Swedish country for 8 years and their second language at school wa English.

21.) 28 Jun 2019 09:28:27
I lived in Amsterdam for 7 years and the number 1 reason why the Dutch speak good English is because about 70% of their TV is in English. For a small country they do not have enough resources to produce 100% TV and they watch the usual stuff watched everywhere such as X Files, Simpsons, Suits etc - you even get BBC1 and BBC2 for free in the Netherlands. Remember the Dutch gave us Big Brother.

{Ed001's Note - yes and that means we can never forgive them.}

22.) 28 Jun 2019 10:30:36
Quite Right Ed001 - There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch. (thank you Austin Powers 3 - Goldmenber)

23.) 29 Jun 2019 00:17:00
Thought you left school at 16? I did.

25 Jun 2019 18:47:22
According to Melissa Reddy,

Adam Lallana has been told his versatility is needed next season.

One Eyed Monster

{Ed002's Note - Right - no effort is being made to sell Lallana or other senior players at this time.}

1.) 25 Jun 2019 19:10:19
Bench seat 1, bench seat 2, bench seat 3, bench seat 4, bench seat 5, bench seat 6, bench seat 7.

Arguably the most versatile player in our squad!

2.) 25 Jun 2019 19:57:02
TheRedKop, slightly ironic coming from arguably most versatile poster on this site!

3.) 25 Jun 2019 18:59:04
Thanks for the confirmation, Ed002.

4.) 25 Jun 2019 19:54:56
Hello ED002. With your knowledge within the footballing world, do you think it’s a wise choice Klopp and LFC seem to be taking, not investing in the squad and not looking to move on fringe players if possible like Lallana?
I understood it that the best time to improve is when on top, being most attractive at that point and not investing is standing still.

What’s your opinion on this situation?

{Ed002's Note - The half a billion pounds that many supporters expect to be spent on adding depth to the squad is what I am trying to fight against at all times. The club will look to improve a little where they can and are seemingly more than happy to move on many of the youngsters. But if senior players are to be added then players in the squad need to be moved on. As I have said, I do expect a versatile attacking player to be a target and I expect cover to be provided elsewhere.}

5.) 25 Jun 2019 20:22:15
Thanks ED. I don’t disagree with your way of thinking about spending for the sake. I also think what we have was enough to have the season we had. Add Ox and hopefully a fitter Gomez and more settled Keita alongside any promoted young stars and should compete again. But I don’t really know enough about the workings of football. I trust Klopp and Edwards.
Did UTD or now City ever just try and go again with the same squad? Or just one additional starter coming in when they’re on top?

Which is the best way forward. Spurs did amazing without adding but ended with nothing to show? Tough call. Glad I don’t have to make it.

{Ed002's Note - You make a good point about JG and AOC - they will be like two new players.}

6.) 25 Jun 2019 21:34:52
As well as JG, AOC, Fabs and Keita will both improve next season. I can also see Trent being even better and Firmino will have a better season. There is much growth and improvement from within. Just 2 senior players needed.

7.) 25 Jun 2019 22:13:23
Mellisa Reddy is very reliable. If she told me my wife was cheating on me, I would file for dirvore based on that alone.

{Ed025's Note - shes hit and miss....sometimes she will do the dishes and other times she wont.. :)

8.) 25 Jun 2019 23:03:31
Melissa reddy would get a game in my team any day " nudge nudge wink wink" sexy little minx that is .

9.) 26 Jun 2019 00:52:19
Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, say no more. Bit of a goer is she? Well, yes, she does go. Bit of a sport? Yes, she like sport.
So, you've had sex then have you? Well, yes.
What's it like?

Sorry, for python fans.

10.) 26 Jun 2019 04:23:05
E002, long winded question/ observation here. With City virtually (or the legends being) having 2 quality players for each position, and players seemingly having no problems moving to them knowing this, one of the arguments against Liverpool continuing to invest heavy is that no quality player is going to move to Liverpool to sit on the bench for prolonged periods. While i'm not in the camp of spend, spend, spend, I'm failing to see why to this regard City would be seen as the more attractive option (knowing you may be benched for periods) than Liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the answer to this repeatedly. Manchester City has a lot of players who are not content. Liverpool supporters are jealous and obsess about Manchester City players and have no grasp of reality with the expectation that Mbappe will move to sit on the bench. It is pointless me explaining the same thing over and over again.}

11.) 26 Jun 2019 08:41:45
Gomez will have his work cut out for him. Matip was immense last season. I don't think people realise how good he actually is.

12.) 26 Jun 2019 13:35:33
Clubs, in general, only actively try to sell senior players if they serve absolutely no purpose in the squad (a third choice left back, for example) . Lallana could feature in 15-20 games next season, whether starting or off the bench, so he serves a purpose to the squad.

It doesn't mean a bid won't be considered if it is made, just means he's not being transfer listed or hawked around other clubs.

If Lallana's not happy with his squad place, i'm sure his agent will try to encourage bids.

I love the Football Manager games, but I feel it has played a huge part in supporters wanting to replace all the squad players with people they consider slightly better every season.

13.) 26 Jun 2019 09:35:51
Can we have less of the sexist chat please. It’s 2019 . Dishes jokes? Really?

{Ed025's Note - your probably right HB, i never grew up in the PC correct world where jokes were outlawed by the snowflakes of today mate, chalk boards were blackboards and inspection chambers were manholes etc and we just got on with life..

14.) 26 Jun 2019 20:14:41
Forgive my agricultural behaviour, It was a compliment, just presented in wrong way, i find her quite attractive ????.

15.) 26 Jun 2019 20:11:09
And tissues were man size Ed025. Thankfully I also grew up at a time when you could speak without fear of offending someone.

{Ed025's Note - its gone ridiculous now irish, people are afraid to open their mouths in case the precious public take umbrage mate...as piers mogan would say...."the worlds gone nuts"..

16.) 27 Jun 2019 03:42:45
There was an Englishman, Scot and an Irishman sat at a bar . having a beer and discussing the importance of VAR in today's modern game . nothing wrong with that.

17.) 26 Jun 2019 23:39:33
You're better than quoting that phone-tapping worm Ed.

{Ed025's Note - its the only thing i would quote of his rosie, a vile man and an egotistical maniac and intellectual bully..

18.) 27 Jun 2019 23:59:36
Are you actually serious ???????????? oh my god, you’re objectifying a woman breaking the mould in journalism as a woman in a man’s world by making it about her looks, and making jokes about women in the kitchen just isn’t ok. Sort it out, get your heads out your arses.

Morning Ed001,

Are you satisfied with our transfer business as it stands, or do you think we need further incomings/ outgoings? Do you believe that if we don't acquire 1 or 2 defensive options, we could be left lacking in terms of depth or quality?

Additionally, do you think it's time for some players to move on?

Have a great day!

One Eyed Monster

{Ed001's Note - yes but there is always more needed. It is just that we only should now be looking at players to push for a first team place, rather than players like Gravenberch who are barely good enough to push for a squad place. I would rather the likes of Clark got the place than him.}

1.) 23 Aug 2023 13:18:04
If he's going to persist with this system then an LCB to replace Robbo in the starting XI is an absolute must, I'm not sure how anyone can think any different. We're basically playing with a back two and only one defensive minded midfield player.

In an ideal world though, we just stop playing this system.

2.) 23 Aug 2023 13:40:18
I realise the game has moved on since I started going to the match (early 70's) . However I am always with a good old fashioned defender. In this case, Nat Phillips.

3.) 23 Aug 2023 14:29:27
So Ed if no one else comes in do you think we can compete for the league and the 3 cup competitions we are in? I’m sorry mate all for giving Endo a fair chance I’m not writing him off at all I just don’t see how we’ve gone from being interested in Bellingham, and the 2 lads gone to Chelsea to settling for what we have plus Endo? On top of that no additional CB options? Everyone can see that Robertson doesn’t work in this set up now and Matip is not good enough as you’ve stated yourself. Surely we need to address both areas?

4.) 23 Aug 2023 15:41:36
Not a chance we can compete on all those fronts. Too many fantasists on this page.

5.) 23 Aug 2023 15:42:03
I could only imagine the attitude of the haters on this site if we decided to go with Clark over signing even someone average like gravenberch ed! Think some fans just demand signings and think football is like playing FIFA!

6.) 23 Aug 2023 21:05:28
How many fantasists is an acceptable number, Kippers?

19 Aug 2023 10:33:13
Hello Ed001/ 002,

I hope you're having a great weekend so far!

I'd like to hear your take on Klopp's recent statement during yesterday's press conference.

Klopp mentioned, "The window is open, and until then, pretty much everything can happen. From the outgoing side, nothing will happen. Incomings, there is still time, and we will have a look. "

I'm interested in your thoughts about his denial of any outgoings.

Cheers!

One Eyed Monster

{Ed001's Note - I take no notice of press conferences, they are of no real relevance as the last time a manager was honest in one he did it because he no longer wanted the job he was in. Think Antonio Conte at Spurs and Scott Parker as well thinking about last season.}

1.) 19 Aug 2023 11:01:35
Klopp ain’t going to come out and say we are done he nvr does! There will be up roar it’s easier to say we are looking monitorIng etc!

2.) 19 Aug 2023 11:13:17
Jay, you may like to read that again.

Klopp said: We're DONE with the outgoings and that's what OP is curious about.

3.) 19 Aug 2023 11:31:48
That means Nat Philips going to remain here again! We have simply killed his career!

4.) 19 Aug 2023 12:04:59
Habibi I'm sure there are 1000's of players around the world who would love to be in Nat Philips position.
It's not like he is on the breadline and if he really wanted to he could create trouble and give interviews saying how bad he is being treated.

5.) 19 Aug 2023 12:06:31
I don’t think we will sign anybody else so with wages saved once more FSG don’t spend a penny. They knew we had no chance with Caicedo that’s why Mike Gordon was negotiating to make sure we did not change his mind.

{Ed002's Note - Gordon was not involved at all.}

6.) 19 Aug 2023 12:17:39
wtr I know that but he’s not going to say what he really think no matter! Maybe there is no interest in some
Of the players mentioned maybe there is!

7.) 19 Aug 2023 12:34:46
@grino it was Hogan that was supposed to have been involved, not Gordon.

8.) 19 Aug 2023 12:38:20
Grino zzz.

9.) 19 Aug 2023 12:42:00
Grino is the GOAT of making points that ed2 summarily dismisses. THen we never hear from Grino again until the next moment to make an anti-FSG post.

{Ed001's Note - and they are all lies as well. I don't understand why he does it.}

10.) 19 Aug 2023 14:31:15
Ed001 This is the first season I’ve moaned about FSG last season I was even silly enough to think we had enough in midfield. Only till just this week I was full of hope for the season I just fell like it’s déjà vu again. And nobody hopes am wrong more than me and if I am I will be straight on to hold my hands up.

11.) 19 Aug 2023 17:26:32
Habibi I was a semi pro footballer with ambitions to become a pro and I would kill for Nat Phillip’s career.

How do you know he doesn’t just like it at Liverpool and wants to stay?

I’ve honestly seen only ridiculous comments from you since you name appeared on these pages.

Harry I guess?

12.) 19 Aug 2023 18:30:58
Bulls eye.

23 Jun 2023 19:29:58
Gabri Veiga - Here's my two cents.

Out of all the MFs we're linked to, Gabri Veiga is the one who impresses me the most.

He has been tracked by Real Madrid for more than 3 years. If it was not for Jude Bellingham, RM would have signed him. He also desired a move to Real Madrid but now he may fancy other options. A thing to note that he has opted against extending his contract with Celta (valid till 2026).

He plays as a midfielder on the right. He has been the surprise of La Liga this season. 11 goals and 4 assists are massive numbers for a midfielder who just turned 21 last month. He has more goals than Pedri. To put you in context, Modric NEVER scored 9 goals in a single La Liga season. He is the top under-21 scorer in La Liga, bear in mind, he is not even a RW or a CAM. Also note, he has played in a very average Celta Vigo side who barely escaped relegation by defeating Barcelona 2-1 in their last home game. And guess what, Gabri Veiga scored both the goals.

Most interesting thing for me is his ability to strike the ball from outside the box, it’s someone Liverpool have lacked for ages now. He's not a creative midfielder but a goal scoring one. And man how badly we need such a personality in our team.

He's press resistant and a good dribbler. The way he carries the ball forward is very impressive. I saw a stat somewhere, No central mf has created more chances (20) carrying the ball forward than him in La Liga this season. His off the ball movement is very good as well. Very intelligent. Read the game so well. Covers the ground exceptionally well, aggressive presser, off the ball movement is superb. The way he times his runs will remind you of Lampard. Plus, very good spatial awareness. Scores a lot of bangers, makes good decisions in the attacking third. Some Celta Vigo fans call him "Spanish Gerrard '' due to the amount of bangers he’s scored. He's sort of Mason Mount, Attacking midfielder with a lot of goals but not as technical (yet) . He is 21. All-in-all, very good tactically.

Areas of improvement: He over dribbles at times and these unsuccessful dribbles often puts his team in trouble. Consistency is something that needs to work on. He's a bit hot headed as well.

Still raw and will only get better. Tactically, is Liverpool the right fit for him? I don't know. I think that's up to Klopp and co. but the fact that we have shown a good amount of interest in him, is enough for an answer. Personally, given the recent track record of Bundesliga players coming into England, I'm tilted towards Veiga.

Overall, he's such a well rounded midfielder. Can cover so much space and his football IQ is very good. He's a good kid off the pitch, no nonsense.

It could be a very-very good signing.

One Eyed Monster

1.) 23 Jun 2023 19:37:49
That was more like several hundred cents, to me. ?.

2.) 23 Jun 2023 19:49:05
Excellent breakdown of the player, OEM.

You made a good point about him playing in a Celta vigo side, which hardly dominates games, and still producing those numbers and performances.

I'm hyped. Hope we sign him.

3.) 23 Jun 2023 20:32:23
Good stuff OEM. Good read that.

4.) 23 Jun 2023 21:01:50
It’s strange how we are looking for younger legs to replace/ assist Hendo, Fab and Thiago but we don’t want to rely on Jones, Bajetic and Elliot too much as they’re all to young and inexperienced so we’re looking at players to come in who are all playing in the U21 Championship who are all young and inexperienced.

5.) 23 Jun 2023 22:43:51
Jones and Elliot not good enough for me I would sell.

6.) 23 Jun 2023 22:51:07
Ignorance - wasting your time posting when you known nothing.}

7.) 23 Jun 2023 23:04:35
Jk.
To be fair, Jones has had a few years, he hasn't proven himself so we can't rely on him.

Elliot has proven to be out of his depth at times, maybe its just his age, but again, we can't rely on him.

Would anyone on here, be happy to go with what we've got and pencil Jones and Elliot in as starters for next year.

Not me. Why? Because we can't rely on them.

8.) 23 Jun 2023 23:07:28
Have to say outa the midfielders were linked with Veiga is the one i'd want us to get in.

9.) 24 Jun 2023 08:52:50
Remarkable how a quality review of a player's capabilities is seen by some as the opportunity to slag some of their own young players off.
It takes all sorts I suppose.

10.) 24 Jun 2023 10:29:36
Jones and elliot are perfect squad players pushing to be starters. Assessing them as not good enough to be a starter And therefore saying they're not good enough for the squad is just d u m b, dumb.

11.) 24 Jun 2023 23:21:42
The majority of veigas goals came in the second d half of the season when he was pushed into a more advanced role/ AM role. Not at CM.

Hi Ed025,
Hope you're doing good.

What would you make of Klopp's comment when Liverpool pulled out of the race to sign Bellingham, "You can’t promise a 5-year-old a Ferrari".

This he said in addition to “We cannot have six players in a summer, everyone for £100 million. "

6 players x £100 million each? Who are they? And then publicly announcing the decision of "dropping out of the race for Bellingham". Why did Liverpool make a big deal of it?

And now seeing these early reports of £88 million (which is less the speculated £130-150 million range) - seems like transfer fee was not the only issue. Maybe we just failed to convince him.

I'd like to know what others feel. Cheers!

One Eyed Monster

{Ed025's Note - I think klopp may have jumped ship a bit early OEM. I don’t think that price is beyond Liverpool’s reach actually mate, but saying that I don’t know how finances work mate.. I’m certainly not ED002 that’s for sure..

1.) 07 Jun 2023 19:18:20
Remember the additional costs.

Rising to £115m is roughly what we will spend on 3 midfielders this summer.

And Jude's wages are probably as much as 3 players.

Plus all the other fees.

{Ed025's Note - your right zed, why get a ferrari when you can get 3 lada,s for the same price.. :)

2.) 07 Jun 2023 19:29:44
Why does it matter? He’s a Real Madrid player now, maybe Liverpool couldn’t be certain he wanted to come to us and didn’t want to spend months working on a transfer that might not happen. I’d rather focus on they players we are going to buy than spend any energy thinking about a player that will never play for us. What a waste of time that is!

3.) 07 Jun 2023 19:33:38
Agree Ed I was hoping we may rejoin the race and make a late offer.

{Ed025's Note - he would have been a statement signing jonesy, i think you may have missed out big time myself mate, but MacAllister is a damn good alternative..

4.) 07 Jun 2023 19:52:58
JB is old news. We could not afford him and Klopp tapped him up as well. It's old news. Also, we were never going to pay the crazy wages he has been offered reportedly should the reports be true. We got Alex Mac now so let's focus more on that. Just my take.

{Ed025's Note - so what your saying oli is that you could have had a designer fleece lined winter coat...but settled for a Mac.. :)

5.) 07 Jun 2023 19:55:48
Ed, your logic about the Ferraris to Ladas was on point, but MacAllister clearly isn’t one of the latter.

{Ed025's Note - hes certainly not lowel, very good player imo mate..

6.) 07 Jun 2023 20:07:08
Thunderbird2, you seem to be someone who only reads the headlines and skips the details part.

I believe, OP made a very good discussion here. Also, it's a samething whether you discuss a failed pursuit or "focus your time and energy" on players we MAY sign (like once it was Jude) .

7.) 07 Jun 2023 20:12:23
What happens when the Ferrari breaks down?

You’re screwed and your insurance company is about to screw you more!

When Lada #1 breaks down, you jump in Lada#2.

Every signing is a risk.
It’s a squad game these days.
Bellingham has never played in the premier league. He’s at risk of injury as much as any player of his age.

I’m happy with Klopp’s approach.

{Ed025's Note - its sounds like your a pipe and slippers guy there Ron, if you dont take chances mate and are content with mediocrity then thats exactly what you will get, im not saying Mac is mediocre by the way...hes excellent..

8.) 07 Jun 2023 20:13:11
Remember Ed, if anyone can, Macca can, Macca can, Macca can, Macca can Macca can ???
Good to have another Mac in the Liverpool team again.

{Ed025's Note - he will also be the best south american you have ever had in your team juicer...by a country mile..

9.) 07 Jun 2023 21:03:21
Well we can all remember when our Ferrari Vvd broke down and we turned to others in the squad and outside of it. Any player can break down but I doubt we would have won that League and CL trophy without Vvd the Ferrari being there in the first place.

10.) 07 Jun 2023 21:08:06
As regards Bellingham i think, and this is totally guessing no info at all, that Bellingham seen how last season went for us and it turned him off signing for us when he had the option to sign for madrid.
I think he was concerned about our ambition and where we going, when he could gurantee all that by going to madrid. i think 12 months earlier he might have held out for us.

11.) 07 Jun 2023 21:42:39
I genuinely think if we got top 4 we would have been all over Bellingham . But the emergence of mac allister and what looks to be a relatively low price for a player of his quality already and potential yet to hit his peak may have been too good to miss out on . And focus on value for money has always been our approach
Time will tell if it’s good business or not but 1 thing for sure is it’s less risk than Bellingham and his fees . if that didn’t go well (highly unlikely) it’s harder to recover from that kind of outlay .
Bellingham will be unreal at Madrid . Bellingham will just be a brilliant player regardless.

12.) 07 Jun 2023 21:48:42
Ed25 Alisson? If MacAllister has as big an impact as He’s had that’ll be some signing ??.

{Ed025's Note - i was thinking outfield players LTV, your keeper is the best in the world mate..

13.) 07 Jun 2023 21:51:05
Don’t you be knocking Ladas Ed025 - fine car if you ask me ?.

{Ed025's Note - yeah..if your a mechanic WDW..

14.) 07 Jun 2023 22:05:28
Bellingham is just too expensive, he has no release clause. He is going to be far too expensive when you add up the total package. Getting on for Harland’s £250m figure.

15.) 07 Jun 2023 23:18:45
Folks are still pining over Bellingham?

16.) 07 Jun 2023 23:25:31
Ed025, as I have posted here elsewhere, I think it's also psychological pressure that Klopp may not have known to handle in the right way. Meaning sitting there and realizing 3 midfielders are leaving this summer and another 3 (Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago) have to be transitioned out of the team in the next 1-2 years. That's 6 midfielders that you have to plan for, and here you are fixating on just one player (Bellingham) . And with clear financial limitations that other top teams don't necessarily have.

He may have been asked the question, but Klopp should not have gone into the details that he did, and that "Ferrari and 5 year old" silliness. Does team management really have to explain to the public why certain players are being bought or not bought? The inner working should always remain to be that only; inner workings.

{Ed025's Note - maybe im just a dreamer ArAy but would have loved to see jude in the prem, i think hes a game changer and would have seen liverpool change the monopoly city have on the title mate, when you see other clubs not as big as yourselves spending billions on players its frustrating that with the onfield success that you have had shopping in the bargain basement, i dont pretend to know how the finances work but in the end its just an opinion...and just like arseholes..we all have one..

17.) 08 Jun 2023 03:23:16
Is suarez South American ed25? rubbishhouse yes but great player.

{Ed025's Note - he doesn,t count john, yes very talented but we cant include vampires mate..

18.) 08 Jun 2023 10:57:04
Awk I get where Ed25 is coming from- Suarez was a great player, gave his all ever match but was an absolutely odious human being. Brought shame to the club and to Daglish too, who is a true legend of the club

He should just be forgotten - only his talent sets him below Diouf in terms of how horrible they were.

As a fan and supporter, you usually express yourself in the following 2 ways:
When you win or win big, you applaud, dream big or even get carried away at times,
When you lose, you get frustrated, point out "the flaws" in the team or may be some knee-jerk reactions.

I don't see what's wrong with the 2nd scenario.

As JK23 also mentioned: Even Klopp was infuriated by teams performance. Then why rank the fans, sharing the same emotion, as "moaners" or "whiners".

One Eyed Monster

1.) 06 Aug 2022 20:03:14
He was infuriated snd rightly so. He wasn't using his interview to whine and moan about the midfield though. Or he didn't slate any player for being below par. World of difference.

2.) 06 Aug 2022 20:11:32
Oem because rather than accept people have a different opinion to them, in their heads it means they are not a proper fan because only their opinions and views should count.

3.) 06 Aug 2022 20:21:20
Oh Mane Mane, your sainthood is on the way ?.

4.) 06 Aug 2022 20:26:55
Wow, fleecing Matip instead of VVD, wow. Jk is right its all about opinions, Gomez hasn't played in 2 years and you want to drop Matip. Luckily it's Klopp picking the team.

5.) 06 Aug 2022 20:40:13
Apologies, I thought that Matip post was added to Seano's match review,

6.) 06 Aug 2022 21:21:13

Just imagine the signal you’d send to your fans if you sell your best player hours before the window closes, all without a world class replacement lined up. The player is tempted with the amount of money being offered — the onus now rests heavily on Liverpool to act like the big club they are.

I can't help but wonder where the Saudis are getting all this enthusiasm from.

I mean, it wasn't long ago when Salah's agent made it crystal clear that Salah is 100% committed to Liverpool, and he's not going anywhere.

Why doesn't Salah just step up and publicly declare his loyalty to the club, much like what Modric and Thiago have done?

What do you guys think?

{Ed002's Note - I explained what his agent was up to.}

Thunderbird2, Konate's injury record isn't very impressive.

In 19/ 20, he was out for almost 6 months.
20/ 21 was similar, injured for over 5 months with muscle injury.

You're right on the money, TheRedKop.

It's as clear as daylight that our squad is in dire need of depth.

It was so evident that even after bringing in Macca and Szobos, everyone, from the Eds here to top-notch journalists, supporters, and more, anticipated that Liverpool would make at least two signings - one in the central midfield and one for the center-back position. They still do.

But regrettably, it seems like we won't even reach the bare-minimum expectations. It's the same story every transfer window!

Got it, Daretodream

Then sell Alisson as well, and give Kelleher and Adrian a chance to take his spot and bank the money received.

Win-Win, right?

We can definitely be positive about our squad. But at the end of the day, if we don't get the much needed depth and quality to back it up then we could easily be in for another wasted season.

I do think it's a bit premature to make any conclusions yet, but who knows with this club.

If I remember correctly, it took us about 3-4 weeks more, after the initial bid was rejected. Talks started around May. There was a mini saga and it was getting a little frustrating. Eds may confirm.

What a signing though! Given that he wasn't the first choice.
