Will Carvalho move to prem? If so to which club most likely?

ski sunday

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in him from a number of clubs still and I can confirm an approach by Atletico Madrid now. Sporting would ideally like to keep him a year or two more. The asking price will likely beyond what Arsenal would want to pay and I suspect Manchester United would also baulk at that price. Atletico would look for a different solution financially. Perhaps Manchester City would stump up the asking price?}

Bobbys goal yesterday was like watching a replay of Fowlers goal against the Mancs in 95 away game - have a google!

Not really directly liverpool related - ............

ski sunday

{Ed002's Note - Try the politics page.}

1.) 15 May 2016 11:59:01
No worries Ed2 Thanks - Just thought that the majority of the people who's opinion I was seeking wouldn't be reading the politics page . Maybe you can answer 1st part - will it affect transfers? Keep up the good work!

{Ed002's Note - Not in the short term.}

02 May 2016 13:04:34
Ed 001 if you're about - what was your opinion of Ronnie Whelan ?

ski sunday

{Ed001's Note - loved him, though he wasn't the most skilful of players, he was all action and popped up with vital goals just when we needed them. I remember having a big poster, as a kid, of his goals against Spurs. If I remember correctly, he got a double to win us the cup against them. I have to admit, my recollections are vague though as he was a little before my time really.}

1.) 02 May 2016 14:30:16
Ronnie Whelan all action? Behave Buttercup. I thought he was a supremely cultured footballer a cross between Xavi Alonso and Norman Whiiteside. Very underrated player and scored some vital goals for us. I remember him getting that extra time winner in the Milk Cup. Yes I know I'm really old and yes it really was called the Milk Cup. And keep your snide comments about my age to yourself Eds 001.

{Ed001's Note - I would never make any reference to your age, I have been brought up to respect the elderly, and they don't get much more elderly than you....}

2.) 02 May 2016 14:38:38
Whelan was pure class.

He had great vision, range of passing and energy and would play anywhere in midfield.
Got goals and could be 'naughty" on the pitch when required too.

Loved him.

3.) 02 May 2016 14:39:59
I look forward to the time you will be peeing 11 times a night lol.

{Ed001's Note - can you remember when you only peed 11 times a night?}

4.) 02 May 2016 14:53:07
Ronnie Whelan was superb. Had a wand of a right foot. Hard as nails and gave 110% every game. Could play across midfield and was someone that you could rely upon every game.

5.) 02 May 2016 16:30:16
Had the lot Did Ronnie, good passer, played with aggression and chipped in with goals. Nowadays he'd be perfect as a dlp/ holding midfielder. I remember him being left-footed though?

6.) 02 May 2016 17:24:47
He played on the left a lot and was two footed.

7.) 02 May 2016 17:25:44
Would point out that Ronnie was the result of good scouting. Something we've been lacking for years.

8.) 02 May 2016 19:21:51
Ronnie was one of my very favourite players of his era, never the star but utterly dependable and quite excellent in many games. He was an absolute stalwart of the team, wherever he was played. A true legend.

9.) 02 May 2016 21:14:22
Seem to recall that spectacular for Republic against Russia was left foot. Was one of my favourites and one of the few quality scoutings to come in young and play out pretty much his whole career with us. Just reading the book based on Geoff Twentyman's scouting notes and results. Fascinating to see who they bought, why and when and the simple rule that pretty much everyone came in to start in the reserves. Shows up so much of what went wrong, like Souness pretty much abandoning that concept and then Rafa creating a Costa Del Mersey rather than the searches that went on in the successful days. Funny thought isn't it, Liverpool were successful with a set of strategies, like identifying guys like Whelan with talent and a good attitude, then when those were dropped it went to rat droppings.

I'd prefer Conan to Leno, his quiff would help him settle in with the lads quicker and he wouldn't keep tripping over his chin.

Why always "klipperty" Ed2?

ski sunday

{Ed002's Note - It was his nickname as a child and what players and club employees call him as many struggle with pronouncing Jurgen correctly.}

1.) 23 Dec 2015 23:18:13
Are you serious or was that a whined up answer, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - It is common knowledge I thought?}

2.) 23 Dec 2015 23:48:54
There's a children's book called klippity klop, clearly as a horses hooves would sound, I always presumed it was some play on that sound.

{Ed002's Note - Never heard of it - maybe he has a copy.}

3.) 24 Dec 2015 00:33:11
Wow I feel old. they will be asking who Alan Hansen is next.

4.) 24 Dec 2015 07:48:30
" I saw a Mouse, " song.

{Ed002's Note - If the Kop really wish to make him happy and to feel at home, then using hollowed out half coconuts they should make trotting sounds.}

Totaly agree with that Ed, Hansen was so good at reading the game, thought the same about Maldini, and to a little lesser extent mcgrath, but not as composed on the ball as hansen, as Maldini said, "If i have to make a tackle, then I have already made a mistake. "

ski sunday

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate. But kids learn from watching games and hearing commentators praise the guy sliding in and making a tackle, because they don't understand the game. So they work on that side of the game and do not spend the time understanding the game. Physicality has become such a huge part of the game at the expense of intelligence.}

Robertson all day long for me, and I should know I played 2 seasons at left back for a pub team about 20 years ago.
