Anyone think bayern goal onside?
I thought very dodgy madrid second goal and bayern's was a second goal, but it's madrid why should i think they wouldn't win.

Nothing wrong with either of Joselu's goals in my opinion mate but agree on Bayern's disallowed goal. Laimer clearly onside and the lino and ref have definitely cost Bayern a chance at Extra Time there. For the lino to flag that quickly and then the ref to blow up immediately, you have to query if it's 100% legit/ honest. Most likely just yet more woeful officiating.

MK, for both the linesman to raise his flag when he should not then for the Ref to blow his whistle very early, meaning that the VAR could not intervene, tells me that something is a bit dodge.

10 May 2024 03:25:11
Absolutely shocking decision. Linesman should keep their flags down unless they'd bet their house on it.

10 May 2024 11:28:08
Think? It was onside! Real shame this happened. Won’t help the conspiracists!

10 May 2024 19:03:17
With the second Madrid goal Joselu was coming back from an offside position. I'm not sure how that rule works but it was in through same phase of play. So whilst he was clearly onside when he scored I was not surprised the assistant flagged as he was clearly off a split second earlier.

The Bayern goal looked offside and it seemed the keeper had stopped when the whistle blew (pure conjecture and impossible to prove) but they should've allowed play to go on and let VAR sort it out. The fact the assistant apologised to Bayern players didn't help the situation.

Semi automatic VAR for offside decisions next season. No idea if that'll be better to worse - we can only hope so.

11 May 2024 00:12:49
Joselu was offside Red but the ball didn’t go to him so when it comes across and he’s behind the ball he’s onside. Perfectly legal goal. The only question was if he was behind the ball when it was played across and he was so it’s fine.

The Bayern disallowed goal was interesting. The linesman flagged because De Ligt was offside but he didn’t get the ball and it went to Laimer who was onside. Theoretically the goal should’ve stood.

However because the flag went up early and the ref blew up the Real players stopped so they might have blocked the shot or the keeper might have saved it had the ref not blown his whistle.

A huge mistake from the linesman that’s dubious at best. It could just be an honest error but it does seem to happen a lot in Real’s favour in the Champions League.

VAR to the rescue last night for RM.

Whilst it's debatable as to whether Bayern would've scored. what the "beep" was the linesman thinking by flagging for offside?

The incompetence is amazing. ?.

{Ed025's Note - but is it incompetence or something more sinister JLC?...answers on a postcard..

On a positive note Harry wins zip again.

09 May 2024 11:57:12
Harry supports Liverpool we all as fans won a league cup?

09 May 2024 12:15:42
I eagerly await your postcards Ed25 ????.

{Ed025's Note - they are in the post mate...hang on...they are as corrupt as the premier league and the PGMOL.. :)

09 May 2024 12:33:37
Harry supports Liverpool. Where did that info come from? Humorous as ever Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - cheers Gaga..

09 May 2024 15:46:46
I was referring to Harry Kane. Left Spurs with nowt to go to a team where trophies are guaranteed!

09 May 2024 15:54:27
The national post office where I live Ed25 is under administration. as a result of corruption believe it or not.

Just amazing that certain teams always get those favorable calls.

09 May 2024 19:59:01
I don’t think that was the refereeing incompetence or anything dodgy. It’s the spurs curse infecting Bayern. If only he could have gone to City and made the all Spursy.

09 May 2024 07:49:42
I genuinely don't get why true fans and players are fussed about what anonymous strangers write online.

Out of the billions of people on this planet there are literally millions of stupid ones who will write things without meaning them or that have mental health issues that means they do things they don't even realise. Plus other teams fans who pretend to be what they aren't to stir up trouble (there is way more of this happening than people realise! )

Why would you read any of this and take it to heart?

If you react the idiots win. Footballers all have social agencies - let them sort it out. Practice harder. Get a proper hobby. Go walk the dog or help out at a local charity.

Life's too short to worry about what strangers and keyboard warriors think.

Ps I have personal experience of this so speak from the heart and know it works.

Agree with you there. Perfectly put!

I honestly am not a fan of social media, I personally think it does more harm than good. So step away from the keyboard, focus on yourself and go get some fresh air!

09 May 2024 10:33:39
1jj, I’ll be honest mate, your post is giving off the same vibes as the blokes who tell girls they wouldn’t be assaulted if they just “dressed more appropriately”.

I’m sure you didn’t mean it that way, and what you’ve said is also good advice if nothing else on how we can deal with these situations if they’re unavoidable or becoming too much for us. But it is not the victims fault they receive abuse and death threats, because they chose to be on Social Media. That’s not really an avenue we should be going down in my opinion.

The onus isn’t on the 99% of good people to put up with the 1% minority who are emotionally immature and overtly reactive. It’s not our role in society to accommodate people who can’t integrate themselves into a civil society. They’re the ones who need to change and we shouldn’t lose sight of that mate. Again, sure you didn’t mean it how it sounded, but we have to stamp out cyber bullying and threats. In an increasingly digital world, simply avoiding digital media is not the answer.

09 May 2024 15:28:03
I think you are confusing mean comments with abuse. It's possible to brush of comments calling you an idiot, donkey, or a git. But it's harder to do so when it's people telling you to off yourself. The latter would definitely affect you regardless, especially if it's constantly said by loads of people. I not saying that Nunez' actions are because of this kind of comments but I have seen this kind on social media posts when we don't play well, along with some racially charged ones. It takes more than just walking a dog or picking up a hobby to move past this.

09 May 2024 16:13:55
Well said MKS. Basically this is a form of bullying. It is easy to behave in this way when you are sat at a key board. I do have difficulty understanding why some people feel the need to behave in this way. Maybe there is a psychologist out there who can elaborate.

11 May 2024 00:35:52
You have to look at the age of the players too and how emotionally mature they are.

Nunez is what 24? 25? He’s still a very young man who hasn’t gone through life’s experiences yet so who knows how these comments would affect him?

It could just be a case of him trying harness the criticism and say ‘I’ll show them on the pitch’ that makes him try a bit too hard and not just relax into his own game.

It’s very hard, as much as you try to just brush it off and not let it affect you at all.

08 May 2024 23:40:53
Good craic on here tonight lads.

08 May 2024 14:22:42
I don't buy into the nunez abuse I belive he has had some but what players haven't. Seems a bit suspect that he's swanned off to Barcelona to see friends. Rumour is he wants to join Barcelona any truth in him wanting out.

Agree3

08 May 2024 18:47:27
Just because what players haven’t had abuse doesn’t mean Nunez should get it aswell. you can comment on his performance but as soon as you start going below the belt it’s just wrong and pathetic and using that as a comment is ridiculous. same as the stupid rumour of Barcelona just becuase he’s gone on holiday for a few days there it’s cropped up oh Barcelona are interested how convenient top tier journalism ??.

08 May 2024 20:20:00
Have Liverpool players been given time off to go on holiday otherwise how is he in Barcelona?

08 May 2024 20:50:00
Yep, looks like they’ve all had a few days off.

09 May 2024 01:18:40
Well it seems strange to give them time off when the title race is still officially live.

They’ve only off 2 games left, can’t they just get on with it?

08 May 2024 10:20:06
Nice to see Emre Can doing well as captain of Dortmund. Always thought he could be a great player for us but it never really worked out for him I'd say. Be nice if BD win the fnal.

Agree13

08 May 2024 11:48:22
We massively upgraded on Emre Can with the signing of Fabinho.

However, agree it would be nice to see Dortmund win it.

08 May 2024 15:44:39
Funny how Fabinho dropped off so young though and Can is still going strong. Did we ever play Can as a pure DM? I can't remember ?.

08 May 2024 17:28:49
Can was lazy and didn’t really have the defensive nous, seemed like the kind of lad more keen on filling up at the buffet than working on his game. Peak Fabinho was light years better than peak Can.

08 May 2024 17:33:48
When Emre was fit, we tended to play him as a DM. I recall the opposition (the Swansea defeat comes to mind) sitting off and letting him have the ball. He was useless on it. Looked good because he has good hair and was able to use his physical recovery pace and make eye-catching slide tackles.

09 May 2024 00:44:43
I don't think Can was ever DM material personally. I always had him down as a box-to-box midfielder. I was hoping that he would be a Hendo replacement more than anything. I was disappointed at that time that he didn't want to sign a new contract with us but he is doing well now so good for him.

09 May 2024 02:03:54
Good player, a bit slow for the PL though.

09 May 2024 10:33:56
Can was much better going forward for us than he was defensively. He was like McTominay at United.
