Hi Eds can we have an updated list of players we are looking at or close to signing thanks

welshman2112

{Ed002's Note - Sure.

There are some minor updates but much of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) how much money the club can raise through sales, (c) any change in senior management or the management structure. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players:

GK: Bogdan and Marshall have attracted confirmed recent attention and are viable replacements for Jones. Discussinons have been held with Bogdan but Cardiff, who are aware in interest from Liverpool in Marshall, say that they have yet to be approached. Thoughts seem to have moved on completely from Patricio, Ochoa, Neto (won't happen), Sportiello (unconfirmed to some extent as Atalanta and the player heard about the interest from an Italian journalist), Romero, Ryan and Ruddy right now. The club have also looked at others including Mattia Perin - who is financial beyond Liverpool.
RB: Wisdom will return and there is aa new deal for Flanagan and Toure. But if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club may look for a new RB - I don't see this as a proiority. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. The likes of Adriano and Alves have been mentioned by agents as possible options but such players will be expensive and are unlikely to end in anything but tears. Danilo was looked at but certainly won't happen. Folks, I assume because of something in the press, have been asking about Janmaat moving to Liverpool. I don't know of interest but I am pretty sure Newcastle would not want to sell.
LB: Sam Byram has been watched - a move to Liverpool seems unlikely. Hard again to see LB as a priority, particularly with the system being played.
CB: A new deal has been given to Toure. I doubt a CB is a priority - at least not before the club clear out some of those already on the books (Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho, Ilori, Coates, Paez, Lloyd Jones and Kolo Touré).
MF: Milner will be joining come July. Even though he has very recently extended his contract, Inter are willing to sell Kovacic (at the right price)and have spoken with Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool and Hertha Berlin - the Liverpool offer would need to be doubled to give any sort of chance of a deal. Inter did say they will keep Kovacic as no deal seems possible and will make another player available. However, Barcelona will return with their convoluted offer for him. If Liverpool want to do something it will take a significant increase on their previous offer. I understand from an ex-German international that Liverpool were very keen on Lars Stindl but he has decided to reject the interest of Liverpool and will move to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer. Khedira (won't happen), Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez (interest seems to have gone). Filipe Anderson has been watched but nothing will happen with Liverpool.
F/W:Right now it is something like this for the players that I understand have been looked at:
Mandzukic - Someone representing Liverpool has approached his agent, but as of this time, not Atletico.
Ings - every chance this will go through.
Benteke - interest has returned.
Ntep - Stade Rennais' Paul Georges Ntep has been watched.
Vietto - talking to Atletico Madrid regarding replacing Griezmann and was hoping on Real Madrid turning to him - has made it clear he wants a move to Atletico - and this has made Real Madrid look elsewhere.
Heung Min Son - I suspect it would be very difficult to make happen as he seems very happy where he is and will be playing in the Champions League.
Carlos Vela - looked at recently but nothing more.
Aubameyang - looked at and there may be interest from Liverpool - he is keen on a move to Italy but the most interested side, Juventus, are now out of the running.
Gameiro - his stock is on the rise but Liverpool have had no recent contact (according to a representative of another interested club).
Baez - Liverpool have recently been told to say if they are still interested in Baez or not - and if they are to make an offer which is much improved over that offered to Juventud previously - I understand that there has been no response and Juventud are now in talks with another side regarding a transfer - this is probably one to forget now.
Kishna - all English interest has gone or never materialised according to De Boer.
Lacazette - another English side met with Lyon about Lacazette and a number of other issues on April 9 and any move this summer, particularly to England, is not viable right now although interest remains from elsewhere - Aulas has mocked rumours that Liverpool could buy the player.
Firmino - he will most probably move with a number of clubs having made formal approaches, and Manchester City, Inter and another side having had formal discussions with Hoffenheim.
Depay - moving elsewhere.
Bakkali - interest will have gone.
Andre Ayew - a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - looks to be heading elsewhere.
Walcott - if Sterling were to leave then a move for Walcott may be considered.
Cheryshev - if Sterling were to leave then a move for Cheryshev may be considered.

I would not be surprised if Liverpool looked at Higuain if he became available at the right price. Jese may well be available either with a buy back option from Real Madrid or possibly on loan - perhaps he could be considered?

Thanks a million Ed002 your a star.
Barry inLouth

{Ed002's Note - Post of the day.}

2.) 06 Jun 2015 19:48:38
Ed002, if I am not mistaken, you mentioned Benzema as possible target, if he becomes available. I see you didn't mention him here, so can we write him off?

Thanks and enjoy in today's final :)

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest in him.}

3.) 06 Jun 2015 20:23:02

hi eds do you know of any more players we are interested or close to putting in a offer great work thanks guys.

welshman2112

{Ed002's Note - I will do an update soon.}

1.) 20 Feb 2016 10:19:03
Waiting for this update ed. Hopefully see some top players in there that Kloppo wants to add.

{Ed002's Note - Done on the transfer page DBol.}

2.) 20 Feb 2016 13:51:33
Thank you Ed002! That was some current day round up.
Like yourself I think much will change.
I expect the team to change a little bit over the summer, especially if there is Departures.
Very Suprised Klopp hasn't been looking more into The German league for players!

3.) 20 Feb 2016 15:17:39
agree with that DBol but as ed002 has said that could change, not a mention of reus or gotze funny that. In answer to your query about black dog its the song I play at full volume when Liverpool lose, it would make more sense if it was called black eyed dog.

4.) 20 Feb 2016 16:09:52
Haha Good shout KK. Do you reckon if we shift Balo and Benteke we will look for a striker mate?
I'm thinking what with Studges injuries, Ings and Origi won't make up the goals (as much as I rate them) !

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are overrun with strikers - even with three on loan. The side plays one striker per game - Sturridge, Firmino, Origi and Ings should more than suffice. Sinclair has screwed the club around and can go. Talks have started about Yesil. Balotelli will go. Awoniyi may well get stuck in no mans land with work permit issues. And then there is still Benteke. The squad is bulging with players who won't ever get more than they occasional cup game. Bringing back Ward and Ilori was a mistake. Caulker was a mistake. The club need to get some advice about the squad - but right now four strikers should be more than enough, let alone five after departures.}

5.) 20 Feb 2016 19:36:49
We have 3 strikers
Sturridge Origi Ings
Even if sturridge stays and stays fit it's not enough.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp says Firmino is a striker and there is Benteke and Sinclair. So that would be six and three on loan Chris.}

6.) 20 Feb 2016 20:26:31
Benteke will be gone Sinclair isn't ready Firmino can play there but isn't really one, the 3 on loan won't be ready for next season
In real terms that leaves us Origi who is barely ready himself, Sturridge who's future is unclear and Ings who will have a lot of work to do after his long lay off
i don't believe the striking options we have will be enough
I do believe Klopp will buy a striker.

{Ed002's Note - I guess if Firmino were to leave then yes.}

Welshman.

welshman2112

{Ed002's Note - Remind me later in the week please - and I will do an update.}

29 Sep 2015 22:41:11
hI eds got another question about our youth or under 21 teams. Since I've come out to Argentina don't see a lot of the reserve games, so who do you think is the most talented players in the youth or under 21 s thanks ed big help

welshman2112

{Ed001's Note - for me Rossiter at U21 level stands out. That is why he is in and around the first team now.}

1.) 30 Sep 2015 06:47:33
Lot of the players from the U21s have been loaned out, or sold, and currently youth team players from the U18s are being introduced into the U21 setup much faster. It is truly a state of flux with those two sides - U18s and U21s as a result.

Sorry for the pessimism, but Sinclair looked the real deal when he was at the U18s but has struggled with injuries and hasn't fully transferred his form for the U21s. Baranagan and Randal are solid players but I think they but I don't know if they have enough about them to get into the first team at LFC. I do not see any of Stewart, Jones, Vigouroux, Teixeira, Maguire, Ward making it at LFC at this time for various reasons. Williams, Cleary, Brewit look okay but don't stand out.

Centre midfielders Rossiter and Chirivella stand out as does Adam Philips at U18s. Canos, Kent and Wilson, all wingers look exciting and has the ability to step up. Ojo is doing very well on loan and might be ready for another loan next season. Fulton is the best GK in the youth setup and is the first choice for the U21s and 3rd for the senor team though he has had injury issues in the past. Danda is the stand out alongside Alexander-Arnold for the U18s.

2.) 30 Sep 2015 06:50:35
I have not seen, but heard good things about Polgar, Madger Gomes, Ejaria, Wheeler, Adekanye, Brimmer, Herbie Kane, Toni Gomes, Lennon and Paulinho.

3.) 30 Sep 2015 08:45:45
Thanks ag enlightening, why do you not see texiera making it from your perspective. I always had high hopes for him but he seems to have been frozen out despite have good attributes that could benefit the first team squad.

{Ed001's Note - that's probably the issue, is that he is not getting chances, as he is clearly quality.}

4.) 30 Sep 2015 11:32:50
Teixeira is one of those players who was ignored by Rodgers. His chance came and went before we all knew it. He will turn 23 in January and playing in an U21 league as one of the overage players. Rodgers has not named him in the Europa league squad and he was not picked for the League Cup game either. I think its safe to say Rodgers has no use for him sadly.

5.) 30 Sep 2015 12:04:31
In my opinion on our young players:

Shoes ins to make it - Rossiter, Gomez, Ibe

Good chance to make it - Ojo, Kent, Canos, Wilson, Origi, Fulton, Jones, Maguire, Phillips, Dhanda, Chirivella, Polgar

Outside chance to make it - Teixeira, Stewart, Ward, Flanagan, McLaughlin, Sinclair

Things change fast at that age though. Rossiter could have a major injury set back like Flanagan did and be replaced within 12 months.

6.) 30 Sep 2015 13:03:09
No idea what tiexeira has done wrong maybe he has eyes on teeth's secretary lol, he had a chance ore season and looked a standout performer, as far as I remember last season he played was mom then dropped, this isn't they message we should be showing our promising young players. I'm not surprised one bit that Sinclair wants out as Suso dis before him, won't be surprised to see origi heading the same way next year as I have no idea where he fits in tho bit a bad prospect himself.

7.) 30 Sep 2015 13:27:03
Hey Adam,

I would broadly agree with you, but have a few points of debate:

I think Ward should at least be in with a good chance after his performances at Aberdeen, coupled with the fact we have not bought a No 1 in the last transfer window.

Flanno, if he can get over his injuries, should also have a good chance - who knows what tactics the new manager will employ, and hopefully they recognise the need for a scouse-beat.

I personally think Teixeira also has a good chance, as Mick and others have said. Not a shoe-in, but a good chance.

8.) 30 Sep 2015 14:02:59
BR has no use for any of our youth really. he only plays them when he`s either ordered to aor forced to. Tex is pure quality but won`t get the chance under this manager. Another one? Maybe.

18 sep 2015 16:49:29
hi eds is teixeira injured just wondering why he did nt get a game last night or not even in the squad

thanks

welshman2112

{Ed001's Note - as far as I know he is not currently injured.}

1.) 18 Sep 2015 18:32:49
There was no place for him and Enrique in the squad. He is 22 already

2.) 18 Sep 2015 21:31:02
Yes, he is out of Europa League Squad; I hope he get his chance in the league cup. By the way eds, how many new players can a team enroll en the EL for the next rounds, or how does that work?

17 Sep 2015 17:05:54
Hi Eds just a quick question, who in your opinion is close to breaking into the first team squad from the under 21 s or under 18 s many thanks

welshman2112

{Ed001's Note - the ones closest that are not in the team, are the lads that went out on loan.}
