Hi Eds,
Was just wondering if there are any updates regarding the left back position? Obviously Chilwell is seemingly the favourite and Hector still being linked but has anything changed? It's just Hector is still impressing (although I do agree that it's difficult to judge them at international level) .
Thank you for any reply but also a thank you in advance (from me and i'm sure everyone else) as I appreciate everything will get even busier with the transfer window open!
Cheers!

{Ed001's Note - nothing new. Chilwell is still injured and unable to pass the medical I am told.}

1.) 03 Jul 2016 07:22:59
The deal will happen as Klopp really wants him so don't be too worried, Rick.

2.) 03 Jul 2016 12:28:58
Any word on the severity and timeline of the injury? All I can find online is a knock to his knee.

3.) 03 Jul 2016 20:46:15
To pick your brain ed - regards medicals and injuries, would you mind explaining the difference between chilwell injury and the situation that unfolded for aquilani? I can't exactly remember the details aqua's injury or his medical, other than he was injured when he arrived.

{Ed001's Note - the difference was that our medical team has changed.}

cheers ed :)

Hey Ed's, we all appreciate the work you guys put into the site, my question relates to long term suggestions that Klopp wants a squad reshuffle, so do you think Klopp is actively looking to offload a decent number of players from the squad e. g. 4 or 5 and if so who do you think is most at risk of being shipped out? Also, what are the chances of any new coaching staff coming in after the 2 from Bayern joined us a few weeks back? Cheers for any reply.

{Ed002's Note - The club have to lose considerably more players than they can add this summer. I have no idea about coaching and you need to understand that Nemmer and Kornmayer are not football coaches at all. Rangers are taking Rossiter. Swansea approached Liverpool in respect of taking Joe Allen on loan in January - it was rebuffed then but interest may exist in the summer. Milan may well take Balotelli but fear that they may need to renegotiate the price - else other options in Italy will be sought. Fenerbahce will look to sign Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic in the summer after a successful loan period but the player will look to discuss his future with the club - and he wants guarantees (I don't know if the club will give them or not). Trabzonspor want to take Yesil from Liverpool and have already made an approach to the club. Sinclair is off to Watford - and Enrique will leave. Teixeira has no future at Liverpool and will leave with interest from Sousa (but no agreement with Fiorentina but I expect tehre will be) and Zenit who are already looking at the market and sorting out another critical roll at the club. Coutinho is of interest to PSG and Sakho to Besiktas. I don't think there are any plans for Lucas to leave right now but If Lucas were to leave and a decision made not to promote any of the youngsters then perhaps the club would look to a replacement from outside. Joe Gomez has a lot of potential and the injury was a very significant disruption to his career. Part of the problem was always going to be related to the step up from playing centre back at a lower tier to playing it in the Prelemier League. As a full back it seems very clear that Klopp does not consider him as a viable option to start the season with. The option of a 6 month loan is there, and then the club can reconsider whether they need him for the latter part of the season. I would be rather surprised if he did not head to Celtic on a 6 month loan and very surprised if he doesn't go on loan somewhere. The club cannot keep adding players to an already bloated squad. Don't be surprised if Ibe doesn't make the cut at Liverpool. Ibe will very likely move on. Bogdan will move on. Benteke and Alberto will probably leave.}

1.) 04 Jun 2016 14:59:14
Is it Sakho or Skrtel that is of interest to Besiktas?

{Ed091's Note - Skrtle I thought

2.) 04 Jun 2016 16:39:19
I'd put money on Skrtel going before Sakho.

3.) 05 Jun 2016 12:26:31
Nice rundown Ed's thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, it should have said Skrtel.}

Hi EDs and fellow reds,

Now the nightmare known as the transfer market is over and we can move on from it, I have a regular footballing question for any ED about, do you personally believe that the squad is still too inflated in terms of the number of players we have? It's just that for years we have always had a huge squad, and with the number of outgoings in the market just gone, do you think the size of the squad is now what it should be?

Many thanks for any reply, but also a huge thanks to the eds for continuous questions about transfers over the past month and tirelessly answering them, maybe you'll get a quick breather, cheers!

RichardInRed

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

1.) 04 Sep 2016 09:49:26
The squad is still too inflated in my opinion. The likes of Markovic, Ilori and Wisdom need to be shipped out permanently while the midfield also needs a minor clear out (preferably Lallana to give Grujic more opportunities) to give the squad better balance. Not to mention we could get 35-40 million from these sales, and sign a top LB.

2.) 04 Sep 2016 10:39:59
We moved on 8 first team players this summer, we added 8. Squad size hasn't changed at all.

3.) 04 Sep 2016 13:59:34
We have moved out more than that, Musc.

4.) 04 Sep 2016 16:03:34
A few disagrees so let's clarify. First team players out, Benteke, Ibe, Allen, Smith, Toure, Skrtel, Flanagan, Bogdan (8). First team players in Mane, Ojo, Wiji, Grujic, Stewart, Klavan, Martin, Karius (also 8). The first team squad is exactly the same size as it was a year ago. I'm not commenting on it, I'm just pointing out that Klopp hasn't shrunk the squad.

5.) 04 Sep 2016 16:11:56
You can't exactly count Stewart and ojo, they had game time last season.

6.) 04 Sep 2016 17:00:21
They did, but neither were in the squad at the start of last year, Klopp brought them both in. The fact is that the squad is the same size as when Klopp arrived.

7.) 04 Sep 2016 17:49:01
What about Tex?

8.) 04 Sep 2016 21:56:11
You play Tex, I raise you Brannagan. Facts are facts.

Skrtel to besiktas not sakho I'm guessing.

{Ed002's Note - Yep, sorry.}

2.) 04 Jun 2016 15:52:34
Ilori and Wisdom too I would think.

Hello Eds and fellow Reds, I have no transfer news as such but I would like to talk about the Balotelli transfer. I for one, am a bit pessimistic about him signing, yes he's young, has a decent-good scoring record, but in my eyes, the baggage that would come with his package is too much for any manager, now you can say well look what Rodgers did with Sturridge, but Balotelli is completely different. I am not saying he wouldn't be good for us or any team, but simply that I think he is too much of a risk for us at a time when the club is revuilding. Just in case anyone wanted to know, my absolute preference would be Higuian but the chances of that are nil!
If Balotelli does come then I will support him like anyone in the red but I simply think it is too risky!
Thanks Eds for all the work on the site, you deserve a knighthood!

Hi everyone, with Bertrand not happening and Sevilla looking as if they won't change their minds, would you think that Brendan may give Robinson some good playing time because I believe he has quality and bags of potential? Also, not a big fan of Bony (although he is a good player) but to be honest, there really are no other strikers, what can we do?

We have pulled out if the Remy deal over 'concerns over his medical', therefore my question is who will be our replacement for him?
