Di marzio has supposedly reported Joao teixera has got a pre agreement with fiorentina. Eds do you think this could be true?

Chilli heatwave Doritos

{Ed002's Note - He cannot sign any pre-contract agreement as he is contracted to Liverpool - at least for now.}

1.) 01 Mar 2016 15:54:20
I thought you could if you were in the last 6 months of your contract?

{Ed002's Note - But he isn't.}

2.) 01 Mar 2016 17:15:04
How long does he have then?

{Ed002's Note - I have checked now, he will be leaving in the sumemr. We knew he had no future at Liverpool and he is going to be on the look out to play regularly.}

3.) 01 Mar 2016 21:08:52
Good luck to Tex, I hope he gets a good run in another team. 😎.

4.) 01 Mar 2016 21:51:56
A little gutted. But good luck tex.

5.) 01 Mar 2016 23:15:42
I guess Fiorentina is it then.

6.) 02 Mar 2016 03:13:14
his path to the 1st team has been blocked far to often, at 23 the lad needs 1st team football, good luck to him where ever he ends up, a player I enjoyed watching him play and thank him for his efforts.

{Ed001's Note - shame, he has shown flashes of being a brilliant player whose career has been destroyed by bad management. The club as a whole needs to look at what went wrong and ensure they do not let that happen again, if for no other reason than the financial implications of buying more players to fill the role he could have filled. If we are going to buy these young players, then we have to have a clear path to develop and enhance them for a first team future.}

7.) 02 Mar 2016 04:39:42
Agree with ed001 - when it comes to how we manage young players and how we set up for giving them a chance to crack for the first team (or at least have a successful career somewhere else) we are terrible. Even the likes of Flanagan and Sterling only got games (and resultantly success) because of injury crisis. It is an area we, as a club, need to vastly improve upon as for a long time now we seem to ruin or stall promising players careers due to our own ineptitude.

8.) 02 Mar 2016 12:08:04
i wish Tex all the best at his new club and we will see what we have missed out on because for me he has shown some great flashes of play and with a good run of games he can and will only get better, if i remember right he came to us with lots of potential but got a few injuries or one big bad injury a broken leg i think but he came back and proved he still has the talent, its a pity he had those injuries because for me i can see him full filling his potential and showing off his talent for me him and suso never got the game time they deserved instead it went to sterling who showed how ungrateful he was at getting game time where as these 2 players never got the time they deserved.

{Ed001's Note - it was a back problem that was his main issue, it set him back a couple of years.}

Hi ed 001 I was wondering who you thought were the top 5 head coaches in the world currently.

Chilli heatwave Doritos

{Ed001's Note - tough one. I would personally have had Klopp in there before he joined, I can't see any reason for that to change.

Marcelo Bielsa has to be in there. Mad but a complete genius.

As a coach it is difficult to leave out Pep Guardiola. He does need to prove himself with lesser teams, and to take teams forward over a long period, to be fully sure he is great. I do wonder if he is that good, Barca slid back under him and now Bayern are doing the same.

It is after those 3 that problems come. That's if you truly are convinced Pep is a top 5 coach.

Allegri would be in there for me. He has taken Juventus to a whole new level.

Diego Simeone would be the next one for me, he gets his players working for him. The big question for me is whether it should be Pep or Jose, Emery or Tuchel as the final one.}

1.) 22 Mar 2016 12:38:31
What went wrong for allegri at Milan do you know? He also started this season shaky. I really like how flexible he is at changing systems but I do have doubts.

{Ed001's Note - Milan are beyond saving by a mere coach. They need a complete rebuild.}

2.) 22 Mar 2016 12:35:45
No klopp? :) i remember a while ago you were keen on Emery for us. Do you know if he was ever considered?

{Ed002's Note - About a year ago I was also aware of the efforts of a "super agent" to try and foist someone else on the club - but by then Rodgers was clearly secure in his job and Liverpool were not looking to change. Liverpool then took advice from third party advisors in the summer and I am aware of one name being suggested to MG as an option to BR. When the decision was made to move BR on Klopp was the clear first choice target.

Unai Emery was not a consideration with two clubs already having approaches batted away by Sevilla.

But all of this is history now.}

3.) 22 Mar 2016 12:41:51
George Jesus of Porto currently. He was sensational at Benfica. One of best attack minded coach I have seen in some time. Its real shame he couldn't move to a bigger club.

{Ed001's Note - is he related to Jorge?}

4.) 22 Mar 2016 12:54:47
ed001, the guardiola supporters will argue that he had a lot to do with shaping together that all-conquering Barcelona team.

{Ed001's Note - it was already in place for him to conquer with, what he did was tear it down, if anything.}

5.) 22 Mar 2016 13:24:40
I mentioned that because I'm sitting on the fence and really have no idea what to make of the pep debate, lol. How did he tear it down?

{Ed001's Note - brought in the wrong players, such as Zlatan.}

6.) 22 Mar 2016 13:28:03
what are your thoughts about del bosque ed, the guy has won the lot, what is he like as a coach?

{Ed001's Note - he won it, but I do not like the help he got to win things. He is far too loyal to players who do not deserve it, like the woefully awful Iker Casillas.}

7.) 22 Mar 2016 13:49:24
do you mean help from the refs in spain ed? there is a long standing thought that Barcelona and real get more than there fair share of favourable decisions or did he get help from backroom staff who don't get any credit.

{Ed001's Note - neither mate. No more can be said though apologies. There is legal reasons for leaving it here.}

8.) 22 Mar 2016 14:06:28
Where do you rate Ancelotti Ed. every country he had managed in he has won the league?

{Ed001's Note - very good coach, but should have won more with the teams he had.}

9.) 22 Mar 2016 14:06:57
no worries ed thanks for your time pal. one thing we can say is he loved Casillas no matter who was better and how badly he was playing, no wonder he got so many caps.

{Ed001's Note - Casillas was always rubbish at his best, he was lucky to get where he did.}

10.) 22 Mar 2016 16:08:49
Just want to ask Ed01/ 02 here. Do you think UTD should get Allegri in the summer. Like you I am a fan of him. He is tactically sound and gets the team play brilliant football. I was excepting him to join Chelsea in the summer.

{Ed001's Note - god no. He is good, they should stick with the man they have....}

11.) 23 Mar 2016 00:16:04
Hard to disagree with any of your choices there Ed1. Tuchel in particular has impressed me with the way he has pushed Dortmund on. As a side question how do you rate Schmidt?

Have to say I've been disappointed in LVG. Before he came I had read a bit of his stuff with great interest - particularly his stuff on running channels. But I haven't been able to work him out at ManU. One moment he seems to have them playing with tactical flexibility (match against I think it was Swansea springs to mind) and then the next moment, he is playing overly cautious and stifling them (or at least it seems that way to me) .

{Ed001's Note - I like Schmidt but he has shown signs of weaknesses at times. Losing the plot earlier this season was one. I have just woken up, so the details are hazy, but I remember there was an incident that did not reflect well on him on the touchlines this season.

As for LVG, all his success was achieved in the past using someone else's instructions. Mostly on the back of Johann Cruyff. At Ajax they had a way of playing, he was just coaching the players how to play it. He did the same at Barca. Trouble hit when he tried to implement his style, rather than using the blueprint laid out by Cruyff. Since then he has gradually destroyed every club he has been at, with his arrogance alienating huge numbers of the staff. Shame actually, because he, while astonishingly arrogant, is a nice guy with a decent sense of humour. It is just that he has no idea of how to be flexible and adapt to changing times.}

12.) 23 Mar 2016 05:23:32
I don't remember the incident in question - but you've tweaked my interest so will have to find it on google. Mind you it must be pretty bad if it excludes him from the company of Jose (and Klopp did pick up a ban for his facial expressions at a certain sideline official! )

Perhaps the ManU players are struggling to work out when LVG is joking because he can't smile any longer?

{Ed001's Note - it was not that it was particularly bad as much as it just upset his team's chances in that match.}

13 Mar 2016 20:34:54
ed 001 what do you think of Gotze as a player and would you want him?

Chilli heatwave Doritos

{Ed001's Note - every time I have watched to see him, he has been injured or not playing. His injuries are an issue, especially as it was a lack of fitness that caused them. I would not consider him, without doing a lot of background research on his character to find out if he has bucked up his ideas.}

1.) 14 Mar 2016 05:04:19
Whenever I've seen him I haven't been overly impressed. Of course he's a good player, but nothing special IMO. He can do something quite wonderful, but then drift out of the game for long periods. l.

2.) 14 Mar 2016 07:24:56
Great player in his pomp. Has gone backwards at Bayern so like Ed I'd question fitness and attitude.
If we had any other manager I'd avoid but Kloppo has previously got the best out of him.

However, I'd prefer to see what Klopp can get out of our current crop before splashing the cash.

3.) 14 Mar 2016 08:16:09
I seem to think he doesn't get a chance at Munich he should have stayed at dortmunduniversity just do what city do and buy every footballer in the league that has put a goal past them to stop the likes of dortmund winning the league.

4.) 14 Mar 2016 08:08:54
Gotze will complete the 5 ACM mission at Liverpool.
Good choice!

5.) 14 Mar 2016 12:36:41
Not impressed with him at all abeit a very talented player. We can do more without him with a lot less funds. We already have Coutinhio, Firmino and lallana in his position with Zielinski being touted if reports are true so don`t know why people want Goetze as his BVB glory days are well and truly behind him.

11 Jan 2016 22:04:22
Hi ed 001 if you have time I would love to know what your team of the year would be currently if it was up to you!

Chilli heatwave Doritos

{Ed001's Note - I have had to put it on my to do list, I tried to do it quickly but couldn't think of a lot of the positions, so will have to think about it properly when I get some time to spare. Probably once the window shuts, but I have saved a copy of the message for when I do get time. Sorry!}

1.) 13 Jan 2016 10:48:11
2015 calendar year (English football only)

Lloris; Bellerin, Alderweireld, Koscielny, Azpilicueta; Willian, Drinkwater, Ozil, Mahrez; Kane, Sanchez

Those players have all performed pretty consistently across the whole year.

{Ed001's Note - Willian? Seriously? The reason why Chelsea are so poor is that he is their best player of the season and he is so exceedingly average.}

2.) 13 Jan 2016 11:04:07
Surely has to be N'golo Kante over Drinkwater hey EMS?

3.) 13 Jan 2016 11:05:19
I don't think you have to be the best player to make team of the year? I just think Willian has consistently played to the best of his ability and when Costa, Fabregas, Hazard and Oscar went into hiding he stepped up his game. I think players like Silva are better, but they didn't play to the best of their ability; unlike Willian.

{Ed001's Note - so team of the year is now for any crap player who plays to their level? Not sure you have thought that out. It should be the one who played the best in their position. Willian was awful last season anyway, so you are picking him based on this season, which would put him light years behind Mahrez, who was decent last season and outstanding this. I fail to see any kind of reasoning that can justify picking someone so average.}

4.) 13 Jan 2016 11:21:02
Vardy has to be in there as well EMS.

5.) 13 Jan 2016 11:29:06
Vardy was poor before August and I don't even remember Kante being there last season. Apologies if I'm wrong.

And Ed001, it's just my opinion mate. I thought Willian was good last season, and I think he's been great this season. I'm well aware he isn't the best player. On talent alone I'd have had Hazard and Silva on the wings but Mahrez and Willian have consistently worked hard and played well over the whole year.

{Ed001's Note - so now you think he is great? Ok whatever, I am not wasting time on this.}

6.) 13 Jan 2016 12:18:55
Assuming we are restricting this to the EPL, then surely it would be Leicester as the question was ' what would be your team of the year? ' and not individual based and would cover 2015 and not just last or this season. It does largely depend upon what you define success as.

Yours pedantically.

7.) 13 Jan 2016 12:58:57
Marshy - the team of the year (whether UEFA, EPL, World Cup etc) is always the common name for a fantasy team of the highest performing player.

I would also have Kante over Drinkwater and Lukaku over over William with Sanchez considered a wide player.

8.) 13 Jan 2016 13:22:47
EMS I agree with you on Willian, he's scored important goals and unlike the rest of the team he carried form into this season. I would put De Gea over Lloris just for the amount of games he won the mancs with his performances. Or Bogdan, it's really a toss up between De Gea and Bogdan.

9.) 13 Jan 2016 15:21:27
Willian is a player i really like, and find it a bit weird you would label him as average, but i guess people see players differently. I know he doesn't score/ assist as much as many other offensive players, but he is also very much a two way player and works very hard for his team. I would take him on our right side without a doubt.

10.) 13 Jan 2016 17:26:43
ManahawkinRed, please tell me you are joking. I'm obviously a massive LFC fan but he's been shocking!

11.) 13 Jan 2016 21:15:09
Lallana doesn't get assists or score and works very hard, but gets slated. But these are the reasons why you praise Willian? Sorry, I'm confused.

12.) 13 Jan 2016 22:22:25
Still Leicester.
