Hey ed, any truth that we make be looking at Lucas Vazquez for around £10m? Would be a great deal if we could pull it off imo.

HX Red

{Ed002's Note - A Rodgers target. Liverpool enquired about the availability of Real Madrid's Lucas Vazquez and were told Espanyol had an option as part of a buy-to-loan deal but that he would be allowed to leave last summer.}

1.) 05 Apr 2016 14:39:34
Cant see why we would go for him now, hasn't really kicked on at 24 and is similar to Alberto. Not a regular starter, so why would we spend £10m on a player no better (And in fact is significantly a worse player) than Markovic or Ibe?

2.) 05 Apr 2016 16:10:40
No better than Iago Aspas. And no he is nothing like Alberto.

3.) 07 Apr 2016 03:19:32
He will be to replace winger. likely milner.

05 Jul 2015 13:36:59
Sorry to mention a random name ed but i was just wondering what your opinions are on Charles Aranguiz?

Personally he's a player who every time i have watched he has been near enough the best player on the pitch and seems perfectly able to play in either a more attacking role or as a deep lying midfielder.

I'm also wondering if any bigger club has shown an interest in him? In my opinion he could be the perfect alternative to Kovacic.

HX Red

{Ed002's Note - Internacionale's Charles Aranguiz was getting good reviews last season and, although tailing off a little season has attracted the attention of scouts from Europe. Bielsa has admitted that he would like to take Aranguiz to Marseille and Bayer Leverkusen have also spoken with his club but are aware a move would be difficult. It is also known that Sporting, Arsenal, Chelsea and Valencia have had the player watched in recent months. Asked about the interest of Arsenal the player did say it would be "a dream" to play for them but neither his club nor his representatives have been approached by anyone other than Marseille and Bayer Leverkusen.}

1.) 05 Jul 2015 14:03:19
Cheers ed, appreciate the in-depth response.

17 May 2014 14:32:08
Hey Ed's
There has been a lot of recent talk of interest in dani parejo, a player who I do like, who has good technique and is tactically very sound. Despite this, I have to say talk of a bid of around £20m possibly even £25M I find to be expensive considering the alternative replacements we have available.

I was just wondering if you know of anything new in regards to interest in Ivan Rakitic? I truly believe he is the player we need, having watched him this season and being unbelievably impressed with his talent in his all around play on many occasions I think he is the perfect foil for Steven Gerrard in the dynamic central midfield role, similar to that of Henderson.

Thanks Ed's.

HX Red

{Ed002's Note - There is a chance that he will agree a new deal with Sevilla and it is likely that Real Madrid will step in with a good offer for him. Chelsea have rekindled interest with some recent discussions and the chance of a player moving exchange. Bayern Munich are keeping a watching brief.}

1.) So no chance of Rakitic now.

Hey ed's

I was just wondering if there has been any recent change in regards of Douglas of FC Twente?
Not heard his name mentioned for a while and considering he is available on a free I believe could be a real bargain, despite potentially high wages/signing on fee. As I am pretty sure a few weeks ago you said that you wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool had an interest.

Thanks a lot guys. {Ed001's Note - not with regards to us, there has been talk of Newcastle showing interest, though not sure how much truth there is in that.}

Hey ed's hope you're doing well

This may not be directly in regards to Liverpool, but I was wondering if you know of any interest in Nene? I hear that he is available on a free this summer and I think could be a real bargain for any team looking for a short-term deal (at the age of 29).

Cheers guys {Ed002's Note - He is not available for free.}

For all this talk of not buying a forward and spending £60m+ on a LB and RB, for me the priority has to be a CB. I can't think of much worse than starting the season with Lovren in our first 11 and would much rather stick with Clyne or Milner at RB and spend that money on a suitable CB.

HX Red

1.) 18 Jun 2017 18:58:02
Sorry but no.

Fullback improvement (left back especially) has to be the priority. It is a huge part of our build up play, our fullbacks get time on the ball and need to be able to use right now we have no width from these two and as such the space in the middle closes up and it stifles our play.

This is the same reason Mane is so useful in it system in stretching the play wide and in behind and also why Salah is being targeted too.

2.) 18 Jun 2017 20:29:28
Agreed, Puzzled. The FB positions need to be addressed as it will help both Mane and hopefully Salah, be more effective going forward and the CB's defensively.

3.) 18 Jun 2017 20:46:45
If given the choice between Mendy and Aubamyang I'd pick Mendy for sure. A leftfooted LB would make a world of difference, with the added bonus of Milner being able to switch to RB for games v teams defending low.

4.) 18 Jun 2017 21:01:02
LB needs addressing but at RB I would be more than happy with a choice between Milner or Clyne if it meant we could buy a new CB. The fact that fans still rate Lovren enough to be a starter is genuinely worrying, other teams laugh at us for having him as a starter yet most of you see him as good enough, perhaps I'm watching a different team.

01 May 2017 23:41:25
Would just like to give a special mention to a certain Adam Lallana, I thought he was absolutely superb today (poor control for his chance aside) . I don't think we realised how much we've missed his linkup play and composure in tight situations since his injury and he will be a massive boost for us in the coming weeks.

HX Red

1.) 02 May 2017 00:26:19
I really enjoyed the 2nd half of the game. Agreed with you HX, Lallana played well today despite the miss. I thought Origi had quite a bad game. And I was so glad to see Sturridge back.

2.) 02 May 2017 00:31:42
Yeah I enjoyed it most of it too, the last 20 minutes were a little unnecessarily tense though! Origi has been out of sorts for a few weeks now and you'd have to hope Sturridge will start against Southampton.

3.) 02 May 2017 01:58:02
I am kinda understanding now why Klopp is looking at another striker. Sturridge will leave, Ings will not be back to his best at least until season after next, and Origi goes through long spells of poor form. Going into a UCL season with Firmino as your only quality option up front is a recipe for disaster.

4.) 02 May 2017 04:32:55
firmino has no understanding with any other player but countinho which would be a worry should little phil leave.

5.) 02 May 2017 08:10:32
Origi didn't have the best game BUT worked hard for the team, held the ball well and occupied their CB's very well as remember, he was going against three of them. Can always improve, tho.

6.) 02 May 2017 09:18:11
Kenny I disagree mate. I think Firmino has a great understanding with Lallana and even more so with Mane. That's one of the reasons we're so much better with Mane in the team, not just for his pace and directness but the speed with which the attacking trio of Couts, Firmino and Mane read and react to each others game. The big issue for me is atm he's stuck out right with nobody to play off because Clyne is a rabbit on a greyhound track, just racing round doing nothing, Origi just has no clue, his decision making is terrible so therefore he's stuck out there on his own.

7.) 02 May 2017 09:35:09
There lies the issue with Origi or our style of play. He need to make those runs behind the CB's something Firmino does when he plays up top.

8.) 02 May 2017 17:28:03
Harry, I thought Firmino was not good enough and would be on the bench had Studge not gotten injured and that he was an attacking midfielder playing the CF role? What changed suddenly for you?

01 May 2017 13:46:45
Afternoon Eds/ Reds

Just wondered what the general consensus on starting Sturridge over Origi tonight would be?

Personally I think Sturridge has looked decent in the brief cameos he's had recently and Origi has been notably quiet, offering next to nothing. He seems to always have a big impact off the bench though unlike others so feel this could be our best bet.

HX Red

1.) 01 May 2017 13:54:13
Sturridge can only play as one of a 2 and I'm pretty sure origi is much better with a partner. Not sure why Klopp hasn't worked this out yet to be honest.

2.) 01 May 2017 14:34:53
if he was fit enough I'd agree with you but right now he's not. Hopefully he gets some time this evening and a couple of starts before the end of the season.

3.) 01 May 2017 15:08:59
I would think Klopp would go with Firmino uptop Lallana on the wing .

4.) 01 May 2017 15:23:23
Firmino up top and Lallana to play RW. We all know Klopp.

5.) 01 May 2017 15:59:50
Studge is not fit enough to start neither is Lallana so the first 11 from last time will start today.

6.) 01 May 2017 17:11:33
so 12 12, with your thinking that klopp ain't worked it out and studge and origi should start upfront with full team which two of firminio, coutinho and mane do you drop to make way.

7.) 01 May 2017 18:06:49

Sturridge doesn't impress Klopp nor he works enough for the way he wants his players in his set up for games. He downs the press enough or run enough for all Firmino does week in week out. Klopp would excuse if his strikers doesn't score all deals. But no excuse if he doesn't run all game. There is absolutely no comparison over quality. Sturridge is a the purest form of what you will ever call a striker. He is no weakness absolutely no weaknes.

8.) 01 May 2017 20:11:13
Sturridges weakness is his fitness Harry, or ability to be able to stay so.

25 Dec 2016 14:23:08
You're all probably sick and tired of the sight of them by now but i'd like to wish you all, both eds and reds a wonderful Christmas, don't know what id do without you all. can't wait for the game, all the best.

03 Oct 2016 14:38:06
I'm with the majority of posters on here who are shooting down the negative brigade. Yes the first half was poor and frustrations are acceptable but there was a lot of knee jerking going on with certain players receiving unwarranted abuse. We just need to stand by our team and save your judgements till after the game, whilst trying to see the bigger picture and not lambasting players for every little mistake made.

My only concern is i feel we looked very shaky in defence once again, which despite the fact we haven't kept a league clean sheet yet, i have thought has looked much improved in the last few games, Chelsea and Hull both converting their only real chance.

The set piece goal has been a problem for us for many years and it will continue unless we learn to stop switching off until the ball is cleared. Both Borja Baston chances on another would have been punished and we were a gilt-edged chance away from losing the 3 points right at the end. Whether this is a communication issue I'm not sure but players should not be allowed to ghost in completely unmarked, in front of goal on 3 occasions.

Its great to see how our attacking play is bailing us out defensively but until these problems are fixed we will continue to concede. I personally would like to see how a Matip-Sakho partnership would fare at CB and see if we can cut out dangerous lapses in concentration. Cheers, HX.

1.) 03 Oct 2016 15:18:14
It's not just set pieces that worry me though. Seems to be any crosses into the boxes particularly from deep. Besides the set piece baston had two other great chances from a cross. Added to that Sigurdson took out our defence with a chipped ball into the box at the start of he first and then again at the end of the game.

Hope it is something we can work on, because we have on if the best attacks in the league!

2.) 03 Oct 2016 16:28:46
Clyne and Matip were slightly too far apart which left the gaps, must be communication.

3.) 03 Oct 2016 17:35:48
When you have 3 of the back 5 having played less than 5 games or so together your bound to have some communication issues.

It's something I'm sure will grow the more game time they get as a unit.

4.) 03 Oct 2016 17:20:48
Set pieces are an issue no doubt but that last chance was a keepers ball all day long. Not having a go at Karius by any means but Migs would've been hammered for that!

5.) 04 Oct 2016 00:07:51
The negativity is frustrating, if we are to earn our place challenging for the top positions we are going to have to grind out ugly wins like we did on Saturday. We are not Barcelona, we are not going to be amazing week in week out, and even they have rubbish games every now and again.

Teams are going to fight hard against us, esp in situations like on Sat when Swansea were playing for their manager. Last time Chelsea won the league they didn't look pretty for large parts of the season, but still being able to win when playing like crap is the sign of champions. We've had an incredible start to the season, save the moaning for when we are actually in trouble.

6.) 04 Oct 2016 04:09:43
Sakho won't play in the first team unless we see several injuries.

His tweets last week have killed off any chance he had of getting back in the fold and quite frankly I think he is overrated amongst too many reds fans.

Think you're wrong there ed, he's young and is probably being given time to see if he can step up to the first team.

Great to see you back Macca, really hope we aren't shooting ourselves in the foot over wages, it feels all too familiar except instead of penny pinching over the transfer fee, its wages instead! Will be sad if we miss out on our main targets for all too familiar reasons.

Have you heard any news on Naby Keita by any chance? Would love us to pull that one off.

Spot on Suku, really well said. People seem to forget the reason why clubs pay the bigger fees in the first place and this is because you are buying proven quality, not potential.

It's the whole points on the board are better than games-in-hand scenario. There's a large chance you may not win those games-in-hand and there's a large chance that the player who we avoided for £50m turns out to be a future star whereas the £20m Markovic for example has lost value. Ultimately in this day and age you have to pay for top quality with astute deals becoming increasingly harder to come by whilst having a much greater risk of failure, it's just a matter of where your budget dictates you draw the line between proven quality and potential.

It's easy to forget that we will presumably be in the CL and can attract the top bracket of player to enable us to compete at the level we've been dreaming of since Suarez left. It's up to the club to decide on the areas in which we need to heavily invest and we as fans need to give our full support to whoever comes in.

Can't understand why you rate Robertson for the life of me MK, sometimes it feels like you just like the player because we are linked with them to try and justify the signing.

I don't rate him at all, his crossing is bang average, as is his touch, his 1v1 defending and his positioning, all round average player and we should be aiming for better.
