Liverpool will ask Xabi Alonso once again whether he is willing to cut short his break from football to manage the club and replace Arne Slot.

There are mixed views on bringing Steven Gerrard in as temporary manager until the summer, and it will require convincing certain officials at the club.

They've been meeting all season apparently. It's quite like that all of these guys have no answers, and can't see a way out until the summer, when it's clear-the-decks time.

To be honest there's a big malaise in football right now, no standout coaches and managers, and a lack of top-notch playing quality and talent.

It's quite likely that we could finish outside CL places this year, but bounce back next year, as there's not much between most of the sides in the top ten. That's me hoping anyway given how things are shaping up.

Do we have a lot of the right characters in that dressing room when the back's against the wall?
There's only one that looks like a proper captain and he's yet to sign a new contract which I'm hoping he does.
There's almost like an 'in a rut' mentality with far too many players.

The standards have been well below par with far too many. Grav and Macca have been very lucky this season. There's not two players on the bench to take their positions.
I want a summer of ruffling a lot of feathers. Far too many have been too comfortable.
