You’ll find Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal the top of net spend for the years prior to Pep as well mate and they don’t have many premier league titles between them.

Tells you a lot about how well those clubs are run (or not), JK.

We’ve been rinsed us. If we’d have invested more into the squad whilst on top, the trophy haul would’ve been much greater.
Shouldn’t have to re-start back in the Europa League because of obvious positions being ignored in Transfer Windows.

{Ed002's Note - So you want Klopp gone? And who in?}

Klop did that at Dortmund one year too and then nada and spat the dummy. He is not the mesiah. we are an aging team that needs 7/ 8 players and 3/ 4 years before we are in contention again.

United, Chelsea will be the teams over the next few years, they will compete with city. Poch is average but with that squad even an average manager will get some results. den hag is brilliant and just getting started and will sign more quality players to that squad and a major force.

arsena, newcastle and us will be competing for 4th place imo. Hate to eb a relist. Nunez sucks and a waste of money btw.

Tells you a lot about Klopp and the players we've had. Also tells you that there are quite a few incompetents out there that have been given too much money to play with.

We don’t need 7 or 8 players at all. 3/4 good buys will get us back competing next year. Don’t forget, Gundogan will be gone this summer and KDB not getting any younger. Could be a mini rebuild on the cards for city as well.

We need a midfield 3 or 4 players, cbs 2 players, salah gone imo and crazy for us to have given him that contract. A striker. Signing people does not put you into contention as 1/ 2 are a miss and most take time to adjust even when a good signing.

3/ 4 new players will make us better but no chance of competing with city.

Been around way too long to Bite Ed ? I’ll replace Klopp
Olired will be my Linders coz he knows everything. JK23 will be the brain. SomethingRed will be the chief scout. Aray will be senior Club doctor. And Irish Rover will be the guy who wears the Mighty Red mascot costume ?? 20 years at the top.

Forklift
I don't understand why its so easy to write off a 23 year old after a stop start year. Instead of slagging the kid try supporting him. At the least why don't you refrain from s. talking a kid.

Most of the financial doping had already taken place when Pep took over but just like steroids the benefits are still there years after the use. Nothing Citeh achieve should be celebrated or acknowledged and if there's any justice it will be expunged from the records.

Financial doping / major rule bending to within snapping point

I do also have to say the city players still have had to go out and perform and perform they do great football at times that others can’t live with

Can’t take it from the players they are only doing their job . But city and PSG and soon to be Newcastle are the example oaf they death of football IMO.

Utter rubbish Forklift. some people on here clearly know very little about footy or maybe just a troll.

Football is already on its way to dying imo. Too much money and cheating going on these days. Money has ruined it. I was looking at hospitality tickets the other day and they were close to £500 each. Utter disgrace.

I agree with that, MartyMcFly. Money has ruined football and it isn't as enjoyable to watch as it was previously. It is a bit hard to swallow when £50m is considered a small sum in football whereas outside of it, so many lives can be improved with that amount.

{Ed025's Note - spot on drac..

Awk in fairness lads, City's net spend only looks better because they've sold a few players in the last couple of seasons for good money

You now see City fans over social media showing how good their net spend is over the last 2 seasons - they conveniently leave out they'd spent 1.3 billion to get to that point - I mean most squads would be in a good place if they'd spent 1.3 billion improving it

With us it's a strange one. I would like to see Klopp backed a lot better, of course, but he has done well with deals for the likes of Mane and Salah

Then again, you saw what the big money deals for VVD and Allison did to the team - and therein lies the crux. Just having a massive transfer budget doesn't automatically fix things, just look at what Everton and Chelsea have spent, what is important is getting the 'right' signings in

Getting the 'right' people in, be it for big money like VVD or a bargain buy like Robertson is key - for me it is this that has worked for us, but when Klopp identifies the 'right' player, the recruitment team etc agree, then FSG need to make those funds available.

Based on the charges, the financial doping at City was from 2011 to 2018 which formed the basis and the spending floor from which City was able to buy the players they have used under Pep. Also with the chart the OP provided, all those other clubs have been run badly and used money to paper over the gaping lack of structure within their establishments. Hence why many of them have won nowhere near what we have under Klopp and FSG.

IMO, All the chart shows us how being well run and having the right strategies and people in place with a clear vision, trumps throwing money at anything that moves it can kick a ball all day, everyday.

Not rinsing anything. I think he is grossly overrated and needs 6 bites at the cherry to score one.

We got rinsed on what we paid. not the first or last team to have that happen to them. look at Chelsea on Fernandez, united on Antony, city on phillips etc etc.

Forklift, where did we get rinsed exactly? Has Darwin’s tenure already ended in your eyes already? Did you think Grealish was done at City after scoring 3 goals in his first season at City last year where he cost 35m in real cash more than Darwin? If that is the case then, good thing managers don’t listen to people like you cos Grealish is killing it right now at City.

He’s been playing in a dysfunctional team all season and even tho, we can critique his play you cannot just write a kid off as overrated cos he suffers from something near every top striker at the same age struggled with before they came good.

The kid has scored more goals already in his first season am than Lewandowski did under a certain Jurgen Klopp in his first season at Dortmund and in Suarez’s first full season with us. Give the kid time, bro. It’s embarrassing.
