Sky reported that we will be looking to offload Curtis jones if we sign lavia? I find that strange as he's a totally different position. personally I'd like bajetic to be given a run at holding midfielder with Mac allister and sab either side of him. you Ed's heard anything about Curtis up for sale ??.

On the question tho, I would be really disappointed if we let Jones go. He is just scraping his potential and with the additions of Mac and Szobo, has two ideal midfielders to play alongside and craft his game.

Jones is a local lad, bursting with potential and for me is someone you don't just cast aside to create space in the squad / make bank.

Let’s face it we’re not a rich club, we can’t just keep buying players without selling some. All the fans want new signings and the majority of fans on here don’t want to let any go either?
Henderson, Thiago, Fabinho are all surplus to requirements as they’re not reliable enough. Vvd, Gomez had poor seasons and need to be judged this season on whether they can carry on at this level. Jones needs to kick on, we can’t say every season he shows glimpses of talent and he’s a local lad.

I love this board - at the start of April 2023 a sizeable number of contributors would have queued up to drive the lad to his new club if we’d have sold him, now we all agree that the club will collapse if we sell him. it’s really good fan being on Klopp’s roller coaster ride - long may it continue.

WDW - using two ends of the extreme to make your point isn't helpful tho. What sense is there in selling Jones for what will more than likely be less than half the fee that Lavia would demand? To me it doesn't matter sense to donthat for another homegrown player when we also already have Baj and fabinho in that role.

@Faith, I wasn’t particular trying to be sensible, I was highlighting how perceptions of players from good to bad, and vice versa, can occur very quickly. It was just an observation on a slow news day.

Could be something in it but I’d imagine more to do with Dom and Alexis signing rather than a DM, I would see his path to the starting 11 being blocked by those 2.
It might also be the case they think he might be a good sell high candidate after a good end to the season and good u21 campaign. Both of those are promising for the future but I don’t think anyone would be too surprised to see him picking up frequent injuries and being on the periphery of the side again next season.
