Well done Ed02, spot on info, paul Joyce just confirmed Liverpool are moving on to other alternatives to bellingham.

Cue the meltdown on here, can only assume we’ve been told a price and walked away. Good, we can probably get 3 players for the same price, sure looks like we need them.

As long as we don’t go and spend something stupid like 50/ 60 million on mason mount….

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been forced to declare an interest.}

Does that insinuate another illegal approach Ed?

{Ed002's Note - It insinuates that Liverpool have started to declare interest to clubs rather than players themselves - as some don’t like a huge wet tongue in the ear. There was always going to be a need for options and Bellingham remains possible, but as I have said, it will be difficult.}

Johnnyr we would have known the price for quite some time now, we all did, if lfc didn't then someone needs sacking, we wasted the guts of 18 months chasing him, not signing anyone in that position because he was the one we wanted. Abs embarrassing situation now.

{Ed025's Note - no jude
dont take it bad
its a sad time
but will get better
remember, support with all of your heart
then you can start to make it better.

I am slightly worried we end up like 2014 signing loads of average players like Can Lallana Moreno Lovren again. Liverpool need 4 or 5 players but 4 or 5 top players we’re left needing to do it all this summer because we sat on our hands 12 months ago.

Thanks Ed, sounds like a step in the right direction by the club in terms of doing things correctly. Though I did hear a rumour Ed025 is partial to a huge wet tongue in the ear, he considers it foreplay in his own special way.

{Ed025's Note - i do like a wet willy stuie.. :)

Ed, what's the major disadvantage of declaring interest in players we are interested in.

Are we afraid to look silly if we try and don't get them or is it we are trying to not bring other teams attention to players we are interested in?

The disadvantages of going behind a clubs back and annoying them seems far worse and only hikes the price. I don't overly get it to be honest. Just seems a bad way of doing business.

{Ed002's Note - There is no disadvantage in declaring an interest in players and everyone knows where they are and it is above board. Clubs generally want to avoid an auction for the obvious reasons. Many clubs actually step back from auctions - which, as an example, Napoli will look to for Osimhen. Credibility starts drifting away where clubs look to tapping up or influencing transfers in other ways.}

didn't Joyce also report that money was being set aside by FSG to get Bellingham? Could be a PR/ CYA move by FSG and/ or a negotiating ploy. Who knows what the real truth is. Still, Ed002 is the only one I trust these issues.

Maybe Joyce is talking through his backside stone.

I'm just glad we can move on from the JB talk, some weeks it was all there was on here.

I juat really hope we don't go for Mount, not what we need. Even Gallagher would be better suited for what we need (in my opinion) if we're going for someone from Chelsea.

But didn't he also say we had pulled out of the Alisson's deal?

Sorry for my first post to be a slightly negative one. That said, I just don’t see the hype, or what anyone sees in Gallagher. Every time I watch a game with him in it he’s on the verge of being sent off, and rarely makes important passes. I just don’t see what the fuss is with him. Although I’m more worried we may go for ward-prowse. I’m fine with no Bellingham. If, and it‘s a big if the club is ambitious enough to go for proven technical, and athletic midfielders. Maybe throw in ndika, or inacio and I’m jovial about next season. However without a dof in place however I am worried about the summer.

Maybe this is a negotiating tactic? Try and force Dortmunds hand to lowering the fee if it’s the move Bellingham wants?
Not sure id listen much to these articles, like all the ones saying we were going to sign him, yesterday it just seemed everyone jumped on the same story, is that because it’s true? Potentially, or is it because these journos piggyback each others stories? Another possibility.

So from Bellingham to Mount and Gallagher… we really are a mid-table club on this evidence. Things won’t improve until we have owners to match the other top sides.

Whoever JB goes to I imagine the deal is already done and dusted, in that scenario we would back off anyway. If he coming to LFC great, if not so be it.

As for people melting down about it, I don’t understand, for example I want a Porsche, I love them, but I have to shop at second hand Kia level, I don’t lose my nut cos someone purchased a Porsche I wanted.

In 1987 we signed Barnes, Beardsley and Houghton got @ € 4.4 m

Smart signings comes to mind.

It’s not the cost, it’s what you get for your money.

{Ed001's Note - Beardsley was a record signing though. That was big money for the time.}

RedA missing out on Bellingham is a kick in the balls as he looks like he has the potential to be a world class superstar for the next decade. Mount however is a good player and I believe would fit in well behind the front 3 and Gallagher I believe is a good 4th/ 5th choice option. Both of these are an upgrade on Ox, Keita and Milner imo. In isolation these are good signings imo (at the right price) but we still look desperate for a defensive mid to go with them.

Football is a lie. Paul Joyce or not, nothing is done until it’s done. Fairly certain we withdrew all interest in Virgil van Dijk.

We were apparently not going to sign Alisson too, RushysBugle.

De Paul isn’t getting on at AM

I think we need a genuine sh*thouse in midfield and if we could get MacAllister and Ugarte that would do me.

{Ed002's Note - Ugarte is not an option and is already in talks with another PL side.}

21.) 12 Apr 2023

We'll still get him i've no doubt. The money will be there i'm sure of it. Plus he wants us. If he doesn't join in the summer then he may never join, as we will have different personnel. If we can pay £90mil for the likes of Big V and then Nuñez, them i'm sure we can offer close to the asking price for Bellingham. A big chunk of the wage bill is going to be freed up as well this summer.

Fair point about Beardsley Ed01 although it’s ama ing to think that the € 1.9 m in 87 only equates to about € 4.3 m these days - now that would be a bargain.

Even more amazing we paid € 900k for Digger - about € 2m these days.

{Ed001's Note - it is amazing how those numbers don't make sense. I don't think you can truly ever compare prices using inflation as a guide because it doesn't actually work correctly. The figures given only use certain things to base the level of inflation on and that is not a fair guide. Too much is excluded. I would think it would be a lot more than 4.3 and 2m if all factors were actually taken into account.}
