Hi Ed's. Apologies if this is a silly question, but curious. If a player was to retire from football but then come out of retirement, would he still be bound by the contact he was in prior to his retirement? It would be utterly unprofessional but could a player escape a club that way? Thanks in advance for your reply.

{Ed002's Note - You mean retire half way through his contract? Then his registration stays with the club.}

Ah, so if he was to return to the game he'd have to fulfill his contract bar any special agreement with the club to cancel it?

{Ed002's Note - Are looking for more ways for Liverpool to attempt to cheat or what?}

This is not to do with trying to break the rules but just a curiosity - I assumed if a player retired his contract would be terminated?

{Ed002's Note - it is not to do with the contract.}

Sorry Lil Phil, you can't retire on us and go to Barcelona for free fella - your friends in Spain got to pay that price I'm afraid, nice try though.
£160 million straight cash no add ons if you're offering Barca, thanks!

Thanks for the response.

Petticoat showing there Ed. He clearly meant the player pulling one on the club, not vice versa.

Shouldn't be any different to Allardyce and the money paid to Palace.

So my two pence worth on Liverpool's deadline day, for what it's worth (which isn't much) is that the Lemar deal is probably 50/ 50 to happen. Liverpool will probably have to seriously over pay to land him.

VVD, can't see this happening. Again, likely would take a huge offer of over 75m, plus a further charm offensive approach from Liverpool Reps to smooth the deal over with Soton. All too little and too late and the consequences of our previous behaviour earlier in the window.

Long day ahead though, and you never know what last minute deals could happen. Have a good deadline day Reds.
YNWA.

Lemar was probably a lot easier to buy a month ago. Monacos stance must be based of selling numerous star players previously this window. I think us leaving it soo late to pursue lemar has made it difficult to seal the deal. Why we left it to this stage? Probably got to do with klopp being fed up of coutinho.
Van dijk is the shocking one though. He should have been a Liverpool player by now. Southampton have every right to say get lost to us.

Southampton are being absolutely daft now and letting emotions overrule a simple business decision.

Crazy from them.

They will be left with a highly frustrated player, they need to use their brains.

Maybe see what happens with Couts before you criticize Soton.

I would have gone back to Brandt now that Coutinho is gone and all he wants is playing time. He wouldn't cost a tower!

5.) 31 Aug 2017 12:57:59
Harry, Brandt politely declined us as he was not ready to make the jump yet to a big club. Also, Brandt is not a patch on Cou and he is a left-sided attacker and with Mane and/ or Salah, he is not needed. It is Lemar or we keep Cou. That is the state of affairs.
