I would actually prefer this player although I have never seen or heard of him. Mount is nowhere near the standard of Liverpool fc and is softer than a wet flannel. I would like like the club to sign real men not dippy little boys who have no oomph. If their was another Kuyt about I would snap him up. Quick question are there any real men left in football? Or are we stuck with this generation of cheating little divas.

What is a ‘real man’ in football?
Is it someone who kicks and fouls their opponent, merely another form of cheating?
Is it someone who plays the ‘hard man’, putting on a face of being angry all the time?
Maybe it’s a beard, or a shaved head?
Perhaps drinking excessively and womanising, proving your ‘masculinity’ all while sacrificing your career?
I don’t know much about Mason Mount but he seems like a nice guy, level headed, professional, has always been mature for his age and very hard working on the pitch.
He just happens to be more of a technical footballer than one who is defensively minded. That, combined with the fact that he is clean shaven, is softly spoken and has the face/ haircut of a school boy, has led you to bring his masculinity into question.
I’m honestly not sure what ideal it is you’re comparing to, the myth of the ‘footballing hard man’ is the best I can do, a generic brute of a man who knocks back 20 pints on the weekend, cheats on his wife and is nothing but a horrible person on and off the field, purely because it makes him appear more masculine.
I don’t know if that is the ideal of masculinity you are referring to, but if it is, I would suggest you reconsider your values. I have not seen anything to suggest that Mason Mount is a cheat, nor that he works any less hard than Kuyt did, as his workrate has been very good when I have seen him play.
His only crime appears to be one of appearances, not of lacking in positive masculine behaviour. If I have got the wrong end of the stick, feel free to elaborate on what it is that you meant.
