Imagine if we kept sterling, our front 3 then would be Bobby, MO and Mane YNWA.

Did you see this on TV3 by any chance?

19 Dec 2017 14:49:14
Hi Eds, is it true or just rumours that Athletico have reported Barcelona for an illegal approach for Greizzman?
Could have implications for ourselves if true.

Peterpan

{Ed002's Note - you are on the wrong page - it is nothing to do with Manchester United.}

1.) 19 Dec 2017 14:53:41
Im thinkin along the lines of if its true and they get a transfer ban. Which effects us with Coutinho. i couldn't give a toss about utd.

{Ed002's Note - No, Coutinho wants to move on from Liverpool. This is nothing to do with Liverpool at all. I have explained the situation with Coutinho over and over again.

2.) 19 Dec 2017 15:16:01
cheers.

3.) 19 Dec 2017 15:10:16
i was thinkin along the lines of Coutinho Ed.

4.) 19 Dec 2017 15:38:48
The only link I can think of to greizman is if they can come up with the money for both. AG looks like it's going to happen and the noise coming out of Spain is that we value coutinho much higher than Barcelona do and their offer may be less than what they looked to offer last summer. The figures touted are less than €100mil, we have a problem now in that coutinho needs to go as he will start playing up as/ when the window opens if he thinks he's not getting his move but we can accept what we deem to be unacceptable. Their are a few that think that Barcelona will come in very low just so they can say he was too expensive when the offer is turned down. It all sounds worrying as we could be left with a very unhappy player.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation with Coutinho, the significance of November 30 and the players Barcelona has available to fund incoming players.}

5.) 19 Dec 2017 16:05:04
Do you think we are going to price him out of the move Ed?, it seems to be the most likely scenario judging by all of the noise.

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona are looking at other options now given that no agreement could be reached by November 30. Ideally they would like Coutinho and he wants to join them - and he has had two family members and Kia begging at the Boston offices of the owners to let him have his wish. Typically clubs will let a player who wishes to leave move on should a suitable offer be made - it avoids disruption and allows someone else to come in to ensure a settled squad. If Liverpool wish to price him out of a move and accept any consequences they can easily do that. I would expect Barcelona to make another offer and then perhaps to turn elsewhere.}

6.) 19 Dec 2017 16:53:05
Thing is though Ed, Barcelona haven’t made a suitable offer as yet, if he wants to go AND they make a suitable offer then everyone is happy.

7.) 19 Dec 2017 17:25:32
That's the trouble Mr D, I don't think we are going to get what we deem to be an acceptable offer and Barcelona will spin it that we asked for way to much money. I don't think we want to include any of their players not ones that they are willing to lose anyway. So we are left with a choice of accepting less than we feel he is worth or holding on to an unhappy player.

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona has no need to "spin" anything. Why would they do that?}

8.) 19 Dec 2017 17:31:27
Same family members who were spouting off to the media in the summer? Let them beg,

{Ed002's Note - It shows how much he wants the move. Perhaps you yshould try and figure out why there is so much unrest?}

9.) 19 Dec 2017 17:55:46
Stop grabbing at straws. Get rid of him, we held firm in summer and it hasn't helped anyone. Why can't people see this? He's a shadow of the player he was and all parties as a whole would be better off with the deal to go through.

10.) 19 Dec 2017 18:18:16
You are right aoe, 5 league goals, 5 assists, 5 more champions league goals, he’s proving to be absolutely useless this season!

11.) 19 Dec 2017 18:31:38
Yep, and imagine how great a position we'd be in if his attitude was right. Make no mistake, id love if he was happy and settled and shooting on all cylinders but he's not at all near his best. It's testament to his quality that he can reach those numbers with his attitude the way he is. It shows how talented he is that he can do little in a match and still pull off some magic. As it is, his behaviour has been dreadful and the fans allow it cos every few games he turns in a cracking performance or more likely does something brilliant to get a goal. You might recall Suarez was in a similar position but he never dropped his performance- in fact he raised it. Coutinho raises his game when he feels like it and for a club like ours, it's not enough. We're fighting for 4th and carrying a player instead of relying on his fantastic ability.

12.) 19 Dec 2017 18:41:34
The Coutinho you are describing is the same Coutinho that has been playing for the last 5 years, he has always had periods where he has played brilliantly and others where he has disappeared. There was the incident in August which was disappointing but other than that it’s been business as usual, he has always been inconsistent and this season is no different.

13.) 19 Dec 2017 18:55:28
If Barcelona want him they should pay the asking price, the same way people on this site say we should do instead of putting in unrealistic offers which is what's repeatedly stated if we don't meet the asking price straight away. the attitude is never that the players club are pricing him out of a move. it does be"Liverpool know the asking pays and what they have to pay". after all, we have"no want or need to sell".

{Ed002's Note - what asking price is that?}

14.) 19 Dec 2017 18:59:00
aoe i agree we should let him go but it should be for our valuation not what Barcelona reckon they can get away with paying if they unsettle him enough or get every player on their staff to state how good a signing he'd be.

{Ed002's Note - it was Coutinho who approached Barcelona and they have done everything by the book. You need to get over these delusions.}

15.) 19 Dec 2017 19:39:55
Fair enough, if he was big and bold enough to approach Barcelona he should also be man enough to realise that we shouldn't have to sell him for anything under what we believe he is worth. you asked me"what asking price is that? ". that asking price is whatever amount we decide he is worth, in the current transfer climate i doubt we'd accept less than £120m. At this stage i'd imagine the club would sell if Barcelona match whatever amount we'd be willing to sell him for but neither Barcelona or Coutinho should be expecting the club to simply roll over and sell him for anything less than that.

{Ed002's Note - It is just another transfer - no more, no less, and there is nothing special about.}

16.) 19 Dec 2017 20:18:58
Well I feel really sorry for Barcelona, they wanted some agreement by Nov 30th, and to sell Couts for a low price,
why did we not do as they asked,
they prob see Liverpool as a smaller club who will just fall in line,
Suarez is just one more player / ex Barcelona player who works off their blueprint of un settling player, club and Fans,
and Couts is playing quite well at the moment, he is our player, we should set the price and yes, come the summer let him go, giving us time to bring in the right replacement .

17.) 19 Dec 2017 20:26:08
Meet the asking price he goes. if not he stays! your right, nothing special about dat.

18.) 19 Dec 2017 21:38:57
well said Big Emre .

19.) 19 Dec 2017 22:12:06
Why doesn't Couts ask for a transfer request if he wants to go that badly
?

{Ed002's Note - Coutinho submitted a transfer request in August.}

20.) 19 Dec 2017 22:23:21
Oh sorry. Missed that. We need to just let him go. Need players who want to play.

21.) 19 Dec 2017 23:13:15
You are spot on Big Emre

BTW, it seems Barcelona has special deadlines every month regarding Coutinho. They already broke their own "deadlines" several times.

So guys we are not the only club being managed by clowns, we have some stiff competition out there

Just want to draw them in the CL QF and do them a new one.

22.) 19 Dec 2017 23:45:13
Denzil, why do we? At the end of this year he will have 4 years left on his contract. Yes I understand that he may throw a little wobbler but he is a pro, and if he refuses to play then what message will that send to any to potential buyers? He won’t want to lose his Brazil place either so he will want to play? I didn’t see Utd backing down over De Gea, where would they be now without him? I didn’t see Southampton backing down over VVD? Or arsenal over Sanchez, Napoli over Koulibaly, the list goes on and on over and over. Question is Are we better off with a proven quality player for the next 4 years and him leaving for free when he’s 29 years old with the occasional whinge on the way, Or better having to spend likely the entirety of the money from his sale on a player who may not be as good, Lemar for example, looks good in a weak French league, can he do it here? Maybe. I don’t know what’s best but I know that if I signed for a club for 5 and a half years, I’d feel pretty bloody stupid about that same club not allowing me to leave 6 months later just because I suddenly saw some potentially greener grass elsewhere. Unlucky son, iv said it before and will again now, the club comes first. Even if Couts becomes the worlds best player and is remembered in the same vein as Pele, Maradona, Messi and Ronaldo, (unlikely) eventually he will be forgotten whilst the club will live on.

23.) 20 Dec 2017 09:53:14
Hey ED thanks for all your info, do you think the lack of agreement in this negotiation is on Liverpools side or asking price too high, or do you think that Barcelona are trying to to under pay? Maybe if everyone had release clauses in the contracts it'd be simpler lol.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool did not want to sell in the summer. That is why there was no agreement.}

24.) 20 Dec 2017 10:21:10
Can nobody remember coutinho's behaviour this summer? He declared he'd do whatever the club wanted and then when we said no he threw his toys out of the pram? He handed in a transfer request and then declared he had a back injury and refused to play until magically he turned out for Brazil. His behaviour has been shocking and personally I can't see why Barcelona would want a player who does that. The sooner he leaves the better. It would take a gerrard turn around before I'd forgive him. And I really am disappointed that both clubs can't come to an agreement before the window. With many of our dealings, it's a mess.

25.) 20 Dec 2017 10:47:38
Unfortunately none of us our privy to the negotiations that have been happening so we can't realistically comment. Coutinho is an asset to what is effectively a business. the owners of LFC will have a price for that asset and are well within their right to sell or not to sell. Yes, keeping him will have implications on the squad harmony etc, but that is no reason to drop from the value you have. As business owners, i trust them to try and get the best deal possible for LFC whilst hopefully being fair to the players wishes and not being completely unrealistic in their valuation.

26.) 20 Dec 2017 11:25:36
Spot on stui though so far, our owners have shown little savvy in the art of negotiation and dealings with other clubs. Personally, I'd love yer stegan as part of the deal and trust klopp with whatever money he was given from the deal.

15 Dec 2017 15:33:56
Eds how good is Donnarumma? Debut for Milan at 16 is extraordinary. Im sure his poisonous agent has a career path mapped out for him already. Hopefuly our own young keeper Grabara is the real deal as he looks very promising.

Peterpan

{Ed001's Note - excellent young player.}

1.) 15 Dec 2017 15:43:22
£50m get him? 😉 thanks for reply mate.

{Ed001's Note - doubt it would enough for him.}

2.) 15 Dec 2017 15:50:02
Was going to suggest throwing Migs into the deal too but they would look for £60m then Haha. jokin aside i never understood the reluctance to splash out on a top keeper. its such an important position that can spread confidence throughout a squad and make the difference between a decent season and a sucessful one.

{Ed001's Note - should be the most important buy.}

3.) 15 Dec 2017 16:05:19
It’s the difference for Man U for last couple of seasons. I’d spend 50 plus million on bringing in a great young keeper. The likes of Donnarumma would solve our huge Achilles heel for many years to come.

{Ed002's Note - Not going to happen.}

4.) 15 Dec 2017 16:02:20
Agreed. thanks for replies and keep up the great work. love this page.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

5.) 15 Dec 2017 16:13:15
Completely agree Peterpan and Ed001. The one position that you can't carry a weak link!

{Ed001's Note - build from the back, it has always been the way to do it.}

6.) 15 Dec 2017 16:56:53
Brian Clough knew the score when he brought Peter Shilton in. Two European Cups proved him right. Rafa replaced Dudek after won us the Champipns League. He was a good keeper but Reina was better. No sentiment, just improve a vital position in the team. That is what is needed now.

7.) 15 Dec 2017 19:32:07
Do you rate Grabara ed?

{Ed001's Note - not seen enough to judge him, I don't get the time to watch the reserves and youth games any more, sadly.}

8.) 15 Dec 2017 19:56:55
How do you rate Karius, Ed 001? I think he improves us greatly, not just in shot stopping abilities but how quick he is to get the ball and move it to our attackers. It seems he has started to learn from his previous mistakes but only further matches will tell.

{Ed001's Note - he hasn't really been tested enough to see what he can do, but a good part of the reason he has not been tested is the confidence he brings to the backline compared to Mignolet. At the very least he is confident, good on the ball and quick to get the ball forward. All of which are things we normally lack and that we need. He is growing on me to be honest.}

9.) 15 Dec 2017 22:59:34
You are right, Ed. It is not a coincidence that the defence looks more sure and secure when he plays as he seems to be in charge and very decisive when coming out for a ball on the deck or in the air. This is may explain why he seems to have very little to do whereas when Migs is there and tho he may have nothing to do, he just gives us the jitters while Karius is the complete opposite.

He is confident and sure of himself and the defenders seem to know what he will do. I rate the kid and am sure there is a good GK somewhere in there as he came to us highly rated. I propose we build our own top class GK as the top GK's are all taken and their clubs will NOT sell.

10.) 16 Dec 2017 06:02:56
Karius needs to be first choice now. And he should be given time to make the spot his own. He has all the tools to be a Klopp GK but needs the support of the fans.

11.) 16 Dec 2017 09:57:19
I agree IB, from what I've seen from Karius this season so far he's impressed me, he deserves his chance but I fear we'll see Migs back in tomorrow which winds me up, fingers crossed its Karius.

12.) 16 Dec 2017 10:35:44
Whether Karius becomes first choice or not is not down to the fans. It's about whether Klopp trusts him and whether he does the business on the pitch.

13.) 16 Dec 2017 11:04:27
Putney, I fully agree. However, Klopp has intimated (via Ed01's info) that he is hesitant to put Karius back in long term cos he is scared the fans will get on his back as soon as he makes a mistake (as if no GK in history has ever made one before him) like they shamelessly did last season to the point of nearly destroying his fledgling LFC career. We cannot ignore that as that threatened to destroy our season as a whole.

So in some way, it is down to the "fans" tho I agree that Klopp should put him in and tell such fans to get over themselves cos the others like myself will support him. Afterall, I did not want Ox here YET he has my full support.

14.) 16 Dec 2017 13:21:12
BRover - Well said, there are some true fans after all.

15.) 16 Dec 2017 18:40:44
"Klopp has intimated (via Ed01's info) that he is hesitant to put Karius back in long term cos he is scared the fans will get on his back as soon as he makes a mistake"

Seriously? A manager who picks his team based on fear of fans reaction?

It's a shame he didn't take that into account last week.

11 Dec 2017 07:55:49
Very disappointing result yday but with the champions lge draw today and another match Wed its best not to dwell on it but to look ahead. We go again lads and im sure Klopp will put out a stronger team in the FA Cup now than he probably would have and will batter them in a few weeks time.

Did the right full back who was bamboozled by Coutinhos dummy have to pay to get back into the stadium?
