What is this stupid craze with blonde hair? Really tho I remember the Romanian nation side for world cup 98 I think the entire team was blonde on another note quick question for all including eds. Greatest player of this generation and why for me Andreas inesta for me hands down. The influence he has had on every Barcelona team is astonishing in my opinion he doesn't get the credit he so deserves. Goes down in my top 5 greatest players of all time thanks eds.

Depends on what you define as this generation. I would say that spans a 10 year period. So between 2006 and 2016, I am inclined to agree with you in part. In fact I would say the top 5 players of the last 10 years (or this generation as you put it) are Messi, Iniesta, Alonso, Ronaldo (Portugal) and Xavi. Probably in that order to be honest.

The generation before, I only just caught the back end of it due to being a youngling but I would say Ronaldo (Brazil), Ronaldinho, Zidane, Cafu and Henry were my top 5 in there.

It is hard to judge in increments of 10 years though. As in between 2004 and 2008, Gerrard was without a doubt (at least in my mind) the best player in the world. He just couldn't sustain it for an entire generation. And between 2000-2007 there were some outstanding players in Serie A such as Maldini, Nesta, Eto'o, Nedved, Cannavaro, Kaka, Ibrahimović, Del Piero and Totti.

If you we're to call the 5 best players right now it would probably be Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Bale and Kroos. Give it 2 years and that will change again though!

It just changes so frequently that for me, you have to sustain your class over a decade to be considered in the top 5 of your generation. The best player I have ever seen though has to be the original Ronaldo from Brazil. He was extraordinary.

{Ed001's Note - you would have Xavi in there? I wouldn't. But anyway, the point I actually wanted to make is that a generation usually refers to 20 years. That is the standard definition when used in terms of population. No idea why.}

2.) 15 Sep 2016 14:50:10
suarez is the best striker on the planet at the moment, his goals and assists record is second to none, if he was playing for us today under klopp, we would walk this league as his work rate is perfect for a klopp team.

3.) 15 Sep 2016 18:43:23
Why not Xavi Ed? I did originally put Lahm as I think he is the only full back of his generation who can actually defend to a really good level. Then I dropped in Buffon for being the best keeper in my lifetime. Then I even dabbled towards Klose for just being a pure goal scorer at every level and sustaining it for so long.

But in the end I just felt I couldn't leave Xavi out. This last 10 years has been dominated by Spanish club teams and Spain on an international level. That has all been down to the fact that Xavi, Iniesta and Alonso are just 3 of the best midfielders in history. When managers say "make the ball do the work" there is no better example than those 3. They were truly astonishing not just for their longevity or sustained success, but just for how effortless they made and are still making the game appear. Which is also a misconception anyway as they work so hard off the ball to always be in position!

I just couldn't look past him in the end. Who would your top 5 players of the last 10 years be out of interest?

{Ed001's Note - I don't think it is down to Xavi, I think Iniesta has been more instrumental and Alonso with the national team. Don't get me wrong, Xavi is a very good player, but he is not special like those two. He has been shown up badly in Qatar, as he simply just isn't good enough to play without the world class players all around him.

Now you mention it, how could you leave out Buffon??? World class at times, despite a longstanding back problem. He has to be in there.

Of the last ten years? Ronaldo, Messi, Suarez, Iniesta and Alonso off the top of my head. I would say Dani Alves would be ahead of Xavi in my opinion. What Xavi does, he does well, but it is very limited and very reliant on having quality players around him.}

4.) 15 Sep 2016 22:08:06
To be fair, I only left Suarez out because I think he has only been at the top for the last 4 years. He is hands down the best in the world right now.

Yeah I felt bad for cutting Buffon!

Haven't posted in a while and with good reason. most of the people on here are so negative. With the exception of a few and to too it all of the negative people haven't got a clue what they are going on about. Slating players here and their really pisses ne off anyway thanks eds for all ye hard work.

Instead of being negative about the negative people maybe be more positive about the Burnley game and summarise the positives. You can choose from the defence, the midfield or the forward game or explain in what way it is different from all the similar losses of recent seasons or why despite this loss we will finish top 4 and if possible something more specific than I believe in Klopp. Come on give us some hope instead of moaning about the moaners.

2.) 23 Aug 2016 09:55:57
Um, we are only two games into the season.

3.) 23 Aug 2016 12:24:11
Exactly an already conceded 5 and lost one.

If ed001 is available I would like an analysis and your opinion of the game ASAP please.

JohndoeV2

{Ed001's Note - what can I say about that? We destroyed them, but it is difficult to tell how much was down to them being utterly hopeless and how much was down to our excellence. We were excellent, we did the right things from start to finish but they were a shambles. They do not look like a team and they don't have a single player who can actually defend.

I can't remember ever seeing a more dominant derby win, that could have been 24-0 and they couldn't have complained that the score did not reflect the game. Sakho was imperious at times.

You need to temper the result with the fact they are clearly in disarray, but the way we dealt with them showed we are becoming an excellent well-drilled team. Once they went down to ten, we were exploiting the space brilliantly, constantly switching the ball from flank to flank to pull them all over the place. I could not be happier with that performance. If Klopp can get these players playing like this, imagine how good we will be when he gets his own players in????}

1.) 20 Apr 2016 22:31:58
Never seen a team just drop back so deep so early with two banks of four and yet still let our players have so much space. It was arguably one of the worst defensive performances in the premiership for a long time. Although I think that does Liverpool a slight injustice as some of our passing and interplay and the way we utilized the space was phenomenal. My favourite moment was between sturridge coutinho and Moreno down the left where there was a nutmeg a couple of little flicks over people's heads and a fantastic controlled ball across by Moreno, Brilliant!

2.) 20 Apr 2016 23:15:49
Completly agree ed. Just got back from the game now and it was embarrassing to watch everton. It was like a training session for us. Sakho was fantastic, won every header against lukaku. The whole team were great.

3.) 21 Apr 2016 02:07:35
60 million for Lukaku after being scolded by Sahko? Nonsense!

4.) 20 Apr 2016 22:35:23
Thank you for that ed really enjoyed reading that my missus got all paranoid about me smiling at my phone whilst reading lol. Not but I agree I do think the fact everton were poor will be a talking point but I think we made them poor by exploiting the space in behind them and capitalising on their errors. Another thing mate what will the FA do about fines Mori basically celebrating nearly snapping orgis leg shocking behaviour from a professional that. Cheers mate.

{Ed001's Note - that is a good question, it was a shocking tackle and it deserves a big punishment. Celebrating like that was sickening.}

5.) 20 Apr 2016 23:50:54
Ed I completely agree about sakho. Every ball out from the back or into the box was Mrs by sakhos head. Not only that but the distance he gets on clearing headers is excellent. Combine that with excellent tracking of his man and tackling he looks a beast of a defender. Now he just needs to do it consistently to be the best in the league.

Also he seems to be a real character. I don't know what his celebration with toure was all about, but he seems to be a favourite amongst the players. Future captain for me.

Seeing ed002s absolutely brilliant replies fills me with joy some times. very quick witted he is and for some one to dedicate their own spare time to a site and give us the privilege of thier knowledge they all should be commended. However the amount of idiots and arm chair fans on this site will never truly understand the role of an editor of a major site like this. The amount of abuse these lads/ gals get on a regular basis would be an eye opener to a lot of you people show some respect and be grateful you have the privilege to accesses this site and it's contents.

You can only beat who's in front of you, if they didn't turn up that's their problem we had a game plan and executed it and won it's that simple.
