I really do think we should sign jack butland as he is a very solid keeper and then we could offload mignolet but I'd prefer to sell him as the fans just don't seem to trust him at all especially not behind infringement of the net.

Who would buy Mignolet though? Besides Butland is close to signing a new deal with Stoke, as much as I see it as a high priority to replace him, and I would like Butland to fulfill that role, it's just not looking likely.

united have de gea, chelsea have courtois, spurs have lloris and arsenal with cech. granted chelsea weren't really doing well bt these are the kind of keepers ud think would win you points over the course of the season.

quality keepers are what we need. if were going to buy a goalkeeper that just looks good on a couple of occasions, its no different than just staying with mignolet as no 1.

Keeper situation is definitely a head scratcher. I was certain Mignolet would move on this summer possibly even the January gone, but he's been given a new deal. Whether this was to build his confidence I don't know (seems a costly move) . We do certainly need a second keeper even if it is to push him or play in place of him.

The only thing I can think of is the management have seen in training that there's a keeper there and they can improve his game, but I'm only surmising.

if i could spend i'd really try for lyon keeper anthony lopes. but that is because i watch mostly french ligue and have very little info about other leagues. But from what i have consistently watched anthony lopes is a top keeper. young too.

I'm confident we will see a new No1 GK come in this Summer.
The new contract for Migs was nothing more than asset retention. He'd only have 12 months left this Summer and if we went out and signed a GK to replace him it's almost certain he'd have seen out his final year and we'd get nothing for him. This way if he's not happy to knuckle down and fight for his place at least we won't lose him for nothing. There's always a club willing to sign someone.

i have heard good things about Mandanda of Marseille and he is out of contract in the summer. Could be worth our effort - and may very well be a considerable upgrade on Mignolet. Haven't seen any links so most likely it won't happen and as i haven't seen him play much myself i can't even be sure if he is that good. Anybody following french football who can give me a review?

I don't rate butland tbh plus he would probably command a £20m price tag, I would take a goalkeeper from Germany as they have produced some wonderful young goalkeepers in recent years, we are today linked with timmo horn for £7m cheap enough and young enough to devolp his skills with us, that is of course if danny ward is not going to be given the chance to become our number 1.
