Defence is poor Gomez, VVD both played like it was a practice game and the midfield allows the opposition too much time and space on the ball.
Liverpool over achieved this season, Slot needs a top DM, top RW (Salah replacement) CB, LB and a striker to be able to challenge for the title .

The third goal I can live with. Yes, it could have been slightly better defended but those happen in a football game.

I have to say I loved Trent. First of the contract players I'd sign up. He is such a key player for us. My issue is though, there are games where he lacks sufficient effort defensively. Sometimes he is on it defensively and then there are games like yesterday when he goes through the motions defensively. I know Quansah got beat for that first goal. And perhaps too many players went for the cross along the goaline with no one going for the cut back. But my main issue with that goal was that Trent did absolutely nothing. He never tried to get back into a defensive position to cut out options. It is really frustrating with him. He can defend but sometimes he can't be bothered. It really annoys me when he plays like this because he can do it all. Massively hoping for that new contract and we see the best of him next season under new manager.

Second goal is why I hate seeing Macca in defensive midfield. Macca takes chances on the ball to create things. The DM position does not have much cover defensively for lost possession. He is a number 8 and 10. A bloody good one. He is an average 6. Just play him in position and we'll be grand.

If he can’t be bothered then he shouldn’t have his contract renewed, you don’t get to pick and choose when you can be bothered to put effort in. Personally I don’t think he does enough beyond the occasional Hollywood pass or very rare long range goal. Feels to me that the time is right for both parties to go their separate ways, Bradley is more than capable of replacing him and is never found short of effort or willingness to get stuck in.

Trent doesn't seem to want to put his body on the line also. Plenty of times he's been beaten in the air not even putting in a challenge.

The Villa game sums up our season. Can’t defend, miss loads of chances. Easily cut through, don’t look solid. Inverted full back philosophy not working. Hopefully Slot will address this. Arsenal can defend, why can’t we?

Our forwards did their part. Scoring three goals away from home to Villa is no mean feat. Our defence (or lack of it) and lack of top class defensive midfielder did for us.

We haven't been able to defend for two seasons now. Even Sheffield missed good chances against us at home too.

Be interested to know what people thought of tonight's game 3 : 1 up and costing not anymore. I know its a nothing game but come on lads how poor are we once again defensively. There are an awful lot of players on holiday mode out there tonight sooner the better this season ends. Be interesting to see what happens with the squad next season an awful lot needs to change with attitude and commitment from certain players who for me just don't seem arsed at times. I will miss Klopp for everything he has done for us he is and always be a legend but we have gone stale and need a change hopefully Slot can settle in quickly or else we could find next season very very difficult.

I don't think it's holiday mode it's the second game in a row that the subs have come on and we've not defended. Giving up easy possession for their last two goals.

We’ve taken Endo off and conceded two back to back since, Macca absolutely wasted in the 6. Why not sub Endo for Baj? Love Klopp but these bizarre subs and decisions lately will not be missed. Either let Endo play the 90 or put an actual DM in his place.

I pointed this out a couple of weeks ago mate. Nearly every time he is subbed we concede. Happened against West Ham, Spurs and United as well. Dropped him entirely against Everton and we lost 2-0.

You can’t succeed in the Prem with no DM on the pitch. Look at United. 3 AM’s in midfield and they leak goals for fun.

Definitely cost us game, endo off and putting mac at 6. We've soft centre, not near aggressive r determined enough in our defending.

No replacing Fabinho properly has probably cost us the season, I’m not confident we’ll do it in the summer either. Farting about with TAA there certainly isn’t the answer as he’s not good enough defensively, furthermore, if our primary midfield target is Koopmeiners (as is being reported) then it’s another window wasted as he’s not a defensive midfielder in a million years. Until we can defend, can be solid in midfield and close out games we’ll remain as also rans.

We did replace Fabinho though VV. Endo? No? The problem is Klopp keeps taking him off.

United, Endo goes off at 1-1 and we end up 1-2 down which means our late goal was an equaliser, not a winner. (2pts dropped)

Everton, Endo is dropped and we lose 2-0 (3pts dropped)

West Ham, Endo goes off at 2-1 and we draw 2-2 (2pts dropped)

Spurs, Endo goes off at 4-0 and we win 4-2 (+2 GD lost)

Villa, Endo goes off at 3-1 and we draw 3-3. (2pts dropped)

That's 9 points in the last 5 weeks dropped that we potentially would've held on to if Endo had not been subbed off because in the 5 games between the Asian Cup and the International break where Endo played the full 90 we didn't concede any late goals, not even against Man City. Those 9 points would put us top of the league right now. Klopp cocked up by taking Endo off repeatedly. We replaced Fabinho. The problem is we keep hooking his replacement and then bottling games with Macca, Jones and Szoboszlai in midfield. I don't know why Klopp is so stubborn but if he can't see such a blatant pattern then he's truly lost his touch.

MK, we have not properly replaced Fabinho. The key word is properly. Endo is a very good squad member but please don’t pretend that he’s an adequate replacement for Fabinho at his peak, as that is simply untrue. He is struggling at this end of the season which is probably down to the pace and intensity of the league, the fact that we gambled on not getting an absolute top class defensive midfielder and that there is no adequate alternative in the squad has led us to this.

I can happily say thank god this season is over

A different centre back each week
A right back who can't defend cos he doesn't want too

But ultimately a team that's not taking chances an easily conceding

Yes it does need a refresh and hopefully next season will be better.

Can't wait for this season to end now and maybe we can get a competent defensive and finishing coach in. Defenders and Alisson have been all over the place. Let Villa right back in it, who are now threatening to win it.
