To all the Eds and fellow Reds, I just want to throw in my very best wishes to each and every one of you This Xmas day.

NoneTheWiser

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, Merry Crimbo to you too.}

Going back to the podcast Ed, you referred to managing the Reds as all consuming (my words not yours). I would put Rafa in that category!! I think it became a problem for him because he couldn't let go of the reins and trust in his staff more. My question is do you think that Rafa had the passion, commitment and determination to drive us forward?
I personally think that Rafa could win us the league with the current squad!

NoneTheWiser

{Ed001's Note - Rafa had a similar issue to Rodgers, in that he didn't watch players he bought either. He trusted his scouts, hence why he had never even seen Aquilani play before he arrived.}

if they was alive i would love us to resign shankly or paisley , but i bet some on here would still go for rafa , its not wise for a manager to go back to a club they have managed once unless your one of the best managers in the world like the special one , i don't understand why the fans who want rafa back never see the bad points of his management , one occasion always sticks i'm my mind , it was when we needed a win and he took torres off and stevie g scratched his head in amazement , now if that what this poster wants then god help us , let's see what he does at real madrid , if he gets sacked before the end of the season it would not suprise me,i don't think they will win the spanish league , to me rafa is a control freak , he got a lot of money to spend on players and then cried to the press and the fans that he never got the money he wanted, if he did get all the money he wanted then the club would have went into admistration , i just don't know why some fans still go on about rafa becoming our manager again they should put it to bed and move on like the rest of the world have , but it would be good to hear other fans views on rafa becoming the manager again and why or why not , of course i'm in the not catogry

2.) 16 Aug 2015 20:17:18
Agreed, Brock! The Rafa lovers always gave me a huge laugh each time they would lobby for his return on these boards because they would only say the good things he did and conveniently omit all his dreadful mistakes and how his ego cost us the PL.

Sitting here sunning my butt in Portugal and thought I'd listen to my first ever podcast.
Have to give credit to Benny Baller and Ed001 for that. It was really enjoyable. It was more interesting than the time of lost my virginity!!!
Look forward to the next one. well done lads.

{Ed001's Note - not sure what to say to that....}

Congratulations of the highest order to Ed001.

I want an invite to the stag do, so long as it's in Dubai.Mind you are stag do's any good in Dubai?

NoneTheWiser

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate. I have no idea, but considering the amount of hookers round this area of Dubai, even in broad daylight, I would think it would be a good place to go. Even Ed004 could get laid here. Just one tip for you, when a woman comes up to you and says '100 dirhams for sex', do not make a joke about it. I told her that was very sweet but I think she would be overpaying me with 100 dirhams and I would have considered her offer for much less. She was following me round for ages trying to explain that she was asking me to pay her and not offering to pay me.

Oh and don't ask for directions when no one understands your accent either. It was about 9am, so I assumed the people wandering about would be on their way to work in shops or offices, rather than hookers. So I asked a couple of people for directions, they just looked at me blank then some woman said she would show me the way. So she said follow me and started off walking around the main streets and then turned down a jigger, luckily I spotted the Metro station I was looking for and asked her what on earth she was doing when the station was over there in the opposite direction to the one she was taking me. Apparently she thought I was after a massage with a happy ending.

They are scarily brazen as well, I was talking to a copper yesterday, as I was a little bit lost (which is normal for me, I used to get confused which way to go stepping out the lift to go back to my apartment to my gf's endless amusement) trying to figure out where I was. In the middle of trying to get this copper to figure out what I was saying, rather than him keep saying 'sorry I no speak French' (which is OK as I don't bloody well speak French either!!), some woman just walked up to me and asked me if I wanted sex for 50 dirhams. I even had a woman in a full birka stop me and ask if I wanted sex for money.

Sometimes you just don't know what to say. I just stood absolutely open mouthed with no idea what to say at all to that. It was just funny at first, but now it is getting annoying, I almost miss the blokes that follow you round the gold soukh asking if you want to buy a fake Rolex or t-shirts etc. At least they knew when to leave you alone.}

1.) 23 Jul 2015 13:00:19
Ed,You should Have at least haggled the price down- unless you've been to the Comoli school of negotiation.

2.) 23 Jul 2015 13:01:13
How much is 50 dirhams??

3.) 23 Jul 2015 13:10:54
Just under £10.

4.) 23 Jul 2015 12:49:24
Turning this into location location location for a minute. but what is Dubai like Ed, I have Dubai as an option to move to for work but it has never really appealed to me as a place to visit? ta

{Ed001's Note - it depends on what you want out of life mate. It can be expensive if you get caught up in the lifestyle of eating out and spending all your time shopping like most here seem to do. It is mostly very clean and the free zones offer good earning potential. It is what you make of it really.}

5.) 23 Jul 2015 13:19:22
50 dirhams is about £8

I wouldn't advise dubai as a stag do myself. Alcohol is very expensive, you can only drink inside hotels and sports joints (such as yacht clubs). You can end up in prison out there for simply being drunk on the street and be in their holding cells for a week with only 2 drinks of water a day and 1 meal,no toilet paper.

Factor in the no public affection any birds in a pub or club and it gets boring.

Can't say I ever saw what ed001 mentioned with regards to the brazen prostitution as I was in the jumeira lake towers area. I think ed001 lives somewhere different,but there are thai massage places on every corner and flyers everywhere.

Ed have you eve been to a brunch? That was one of the best things I experienced at the atlantis hotel. and such a great atmosphere. I would suggest that as a starting point for any stag do. I might be heading back that way this December. throw it then ed001 :)

P.S congratulations

{Ed001's Note - bit out of my price range mate, I was in the JLT area but it is far too expensive for me so I am in the Deira area now, Raif to be exact. As for a brunch, no mate, the Atlantis is way out of my budget. We will have to meet up if you are out here mate. Oh and thank you.}

6.) 23 Jul 2015 13:58:22
Cheers Ed, suppose could always do a year or so, get what you need then get out. May try and get there next year for a visit and see what it's like. I shall have to give you a heads up if I do for a few pointers. as to where the best massage is ha.

{Ed001's Note - I hear a lot of people say that, but then they get caught up in the life and never save anything.}

7.) 23 Jul 2015 14:31:28
I've travelled a fair bit through work. I'm pretty good with stuff like that, though like you say, some aren't. Some people in Perth in Oz bought huge houses and expensive cars, then got made redundant and lost it all!

8.) 23 Jul 2015 15:59:44
You should come down the road to Abu Dhabi Ed1. Much quieter and easy going and you have Dubai an hour down the road if you want a blow out. Will be down there on Saturday to catch up with some pals.

Question for the Eds or anyone in the know. I was at the Carling cup penalty epic earlier on in the season. We brought on a player in Jordan Williams who i didn't know at the time. He looked incredibly composed on the ball, didn't give it away and stroked it around like Alonso! Haven't seen him since. What does the coaching staff think of him? I'm judging him on one performance and think he could go all the way to the top!

NoneTheWiser

1.) I like the lad, he's a good passer, strong in the tackle, isn't knocked off the ball easily and very composed on the ball.
I would rather play him than Allen or Gerrard in CDM any day of the week.

2.) Still very young and is only playing his first full year of U21 football. He will get his chances.

Eds without being disparaging, I sort of know the way transfers in American Football work with drafts etc, but do you think that having American owners has affected the way that we have done our business transactions. Are they doing what they would normally do if it were an American sport such as baseball or hockey? I may be way off the mark. It's just sad to see Liverpool making themselves into a laughing stock.

NoneTheWiser

{Ed001's Note - in baseball they own a team considered to be one of the top sides, so they can just steamroller sides. There is only one league to worry about, so being in the top couple of MLB sides makes you one of the biggest in the world. This is a totally different situation, there are multiple leagues with multiple teams that are huge. You can't just bully your way to the top, even when you have Citeh's money. As Man City have accepted, you have to work with the other clubs showing them respect to get anywhere. FSG haven't seemed to have grasped the reality that we, despite our huge worldwide fanbase, are not in a position to bully the big Italian and Spanish sides. They don't like English clubs anyway, they see them as a threat due to the money available in the Prem, so you need to treat them with respect and earn theirs in return. You don't earn respect by messing people around.}

I'm going back a bit, but for me it was Johnny Barnes.
He was incredible. Had it all and was arguably the best player in the world at his height, as was unplayable.

5ive I have to disagree with you and say that Wisdom is good enough. He is good on the ball and his passing success rate is always in the high 80's to low 90's. He looks to get forward support the attack and due to his pace can get back to cover. He is arguably our best defensive right back. For me, he should be in the squad next season, and be getting regular game time.

Lambert's main problem was Lambert! Particularly at the start of the pre seaon when he missed the pen in America, he never really recovered from that. He played as if he didn't believe he deserved to be in the red shirt initially and so he started getting less game time off Brenda. Since then he has got better but you couldn't call him match fit as he has not played enough consecutive games to get that sharpness that you get from playing. As a consequence he is off the pace and looks slow and lethargic in play.
He should have seized the opportunity to go to Villa when he had the chance. I know that if it was me at that age, I would rather play than sit on the bench. even if it is for your boyhood club!

Ed002 you know I love you and respect you as a man/woman, but it just won't happen because before 2025 we are going to be
(a) hit by a massive asteroid which will throw up huge plumes of dust into the atmosphere and set upon us another ice age,
(b) be wiped out by a malevolent race of aliens intent on destroying all mankind,
(c) be beseiged by the wrath of the almighty for being horrible to thy neighbours in the form of a flood which will (you've guessed it) wipe out all of mankind.
In any event the game of kicking a pigs bladder filled with air around a pitch will no longer take centre stage. This is one of the reasons why footballers are renegotiating contracts for more money so they can build their own Arks. UEFA are aware of this and are stipulating that a UEFA member must be on each Ark.

This is the conspiracy site right? .
