Very much doubt it can you imagine what Klopp would have won in the last 5 years if he had Chelsea’s budget.

If its the case that klopp is not being given funds why did he sign a new contract? . If fsg are being tight I would like klopp to expose them because its holding the club back . One thing I love about antonio conte is he doesn't take non of that bullshxt.

The way I see it, there’s two issues here. First of all, the transfer team (which includes Klopp) cannot reach consensus on preferred midfield targets that are attainable this summer, and secondly we haven’t been able to sell Ox or Naby, nor extend their deals.

There is a third problem whereby we’re making some quite fundamental changes to our system and player roles.

I get the sense that we may still try to do something before the window closes, but it certainly won’t have been what we wanted to do when the summer started.

Logically, we should have made Ox and Keita available for transfer at the end of last season and moved them on, but we f***ed that up good and proper and now have two players who are useless in any reasonable capacity for a large part of the season whilst sat on very large salaries.

As for De Jong, there’s too many reasons to list why it’s pie in the sky.

Can’t wait for that “record” Nike deal so we can spend some money for once without sell to buy.
If only we played every game last season to maximise funds.
Oh wait ? Then next season when Standard Chartered give us another “record” sponsorship deal we can sell Trent and Robbo to fund our midfielder
How much can we get for the Paisley Gates on eBay?

In all seriousness, I can see FSG doing a few more years and selling the club tbh, I think when Annie road is built there will be talk of a sale whilst we’re at a peak. Klopp still in charge, decent squad, up to date stadium and Training. Makes sense for them to think about selling up when we’re at this peak of value.

@Hailstones the tight fisted FSG have spent over € 100 million in 2022.

@6Times what makes you think that anybody would put a bid in for Ox or Naby? Would you if you were a manager?

7.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 01:23:22
Give it a rest. It’s laughable that you think fsg hasn’t spent.

For me its a complete mess. EDs do you know where our money has gone?

It seems as though we are funding the expansion to the anny road end and that's taken out of our transfer budget.

Who ever is in charge of transfers and allowing the state the midfield into getting needs to be looked at or even sacked. There hasn't been investment made to that area for like 4 seasons now which is unacceptable. Last season we heard ox was like a new signing which went down like a led balloon.

Clubs a mess, fans tend to be right about stuff like this. Last summer we knew we needed another forward, we got one in jan and challenged on every front. This summer midfielder is clear and im not buying we are waiting for the right player. Way things are we won't even be in the champions league next year which will result in bellingham going to Madrid!

{Ed001's Note - fans do not tend to be right about financial matters.}

We were in the running for a quadruple until the last couple of games last season, and now three games into the new one and the clubs is suddenly a complete mess and FSG the root of all evil?

Yes we’re all incredibly disappointed about the recent performances and results, yes I agree we should have bought a top midfielder and sold OX and/ or Keita, but to call everything suddenly FSGs fault and the club a mess?

Jayzuz we don’t half have a short memory on this forum ? let's give the side 10 games at least to see where we really stand.

10.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 05:23:57
Vish in no way are we in a mess. FSG have put us back on the map. We are literally one of the top clubs in the world, with wc players and a wc manager. We've got improved training facilities, more stadium capacity and more. The fact you think its a mess shows total disrespect to the progress of the club.

11.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 08:00:06
There's no doubt that we've been backed by fsg since they came in. but the last couple of seasons I would argue we haven't. We have a net spend of 1.8m by all accounts this summer. We all knew last season that the midfield was a priority to sort and what did we do? Given milly a new 1 year deal and kept all the other injury merchants. Now there's so many injuries and still no investment. Forget challenging city. The mid fielders have been run into the ground last few years and only going to get worse.

12.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 08:08:30
FSG have underfunded the TEAM not the LFC name, that's been sold brilliantly for commercial value but the team has been crying out for investment for seasons, we have missed our chance to win 2/ 3 big trophies since we won the league and came from the squad investment not being there.

13.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 09:09:56
Is this the same FSG who wanted to form a "European Breakaway League" just very recently behind our backs.

SGRed it is thee who has a short memory if you have forgotten the above.

The reds have been poor since before the Real game. Exhausted, mentally fatigued, who the F knows. It does seem as though playing this way is a major drain on players.
The net spend may be prudent and keeping us safe, although i'd argue that there should be more available, considering the season we've had, new deals mentioned above considered against this seasons net spend, which is just north of 20m?
Klopp chose the 2 MF's he wanted most, NK and Thiago, one of whom he knew was injury prone, and now its clear that we need new energy and robustness in that area of the team.
When a new player comes in, like Diaz, they seem to have the energy that the rest of the side usually has, probably because he has not had to play so hard and so much.
IF FDJ is a target, then why wait till now to make a move?

15.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 09:53:45
@WDW, if we set the price low enough, yes, I think there would have been. As long as we hadn’t asked for stupid money then someone would have taken a punt. But now we’re stuck with two extremely injury prone players in the last year of their contracts who are very unlikely to make any meaningful contribution to the team this season.

Remember back to those far off days of July 2022 when the club said we had to sell before we could buy? I know it’s an awful long time ago book look it up on Instabook or whatever. The club has sold to the tune of @ € 80 m. Would anyone like to take a wild guess as to how much that means we could spend? Imagine the surprise when we spent just over € 80m eh? Now why did we buy Nunez and Diaz this year and not any midfielders as a priority. Ah yes, that’s tight because we lost three first team squad attackers - Sadio, Big Div and Taki leaving us short of numbers up front. Personally I think the club should have bought 3 midfielders so we could have half of our PL squad entitlement a# midfielders but strangely the club prioritised a balanced squad and d3cided that 9 midfielders would do the job.

The club are still saying we need to sell before we can but and I think now that we hav3 the defence and attack covered they may have even 5hought about prioritising th3 midfield . Not sure though perhaps if someone can drop a reminder on here every now and then and perhaps ask if we got 80 m for sales why we couldn’t spend 200 m on new players ….

One final point, it’s by expanding the ground capacity and being active commercially that we maintain / increase revenue streams - not exciting to the fans until of course we have the money to buy the couple of dozen midfielders that we need.

17.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 10:30:10
I don't quite agree with that 6Times. Getting other clubs interested is just one hurdle that needs to be overcome. We need to consider if they are interested in moving to the interested club and, in Naby's case, whether he can even move to that country given that he has a criminal record. With everything that Ed002 had told us, the club would be more than happy to move both Ox and Naby on but there are no takers. Saying that everything would be solved if we just accept any bid is a bit too simplistic in my opinion.

18.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 11:12:38
Thought I’d come on here from a bit of rest bite from the reds Facebook moaning pages - FSG this, not spent enough that, Nike deal this, le bron investment that

You’re correct ed001 - fans and football finance don’t mix.

{Ed001's Note - the information just isn't available to the average fan, even those capable of understanding are going to struggle with only half the story.}

19.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 10:30:25
Some fair points WDW, although with 3 MF's seemingly departing next summer, and knowing that JK loves a bedding in period (usually), it would make sense to think ahead in order to create a more seamless flow. Throw injury proneness and the financial success of last season into the mix, and the 20m net spend of this summer does seem lightweight.

20.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 11:21:43
@6times, you can apply the argument to any player that’s ever played the game - if you set the price low enough it’s likely you’ll get bids.

Two things though - One, the club will have a value that it places on the players. If any bid is below their valuation then why would they accept a bid - that would make us poor businessmen.

Two, Ox is out of contract at the end of the season as is Naby. It seems the club isn’t in a rush to renew Ox’s contract and Naby seems not to be in a rush to sign a new one. Here’s a thought : perhaps some of the cunning rascals are waiting until the end of this season when they won’t have to pay Liverpool anything? What say you?

21.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 12:04:49
Suggest De Jong to Liverpool and suddenly everyone will have a masters in finance. We should be trying to bring him in be’d be fantastic for us.

22.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 13:26:45
OneKiss, I do have a degree in Finance and am a qualified accountant will that do? Seriously though, supporters need to at least try to read the club’s accounts when published so that they’ve at least seen the officially reported numbers rather than the more exciting figures that the press always quote.

For example it’s great reporting massive revenues but if you don’t offset that with costs then it’s a completely skewed figure. Standard form for most media outlets.

In some ways, I’m glad we are trying to live within our means as it puts the club on a sound long-term footing but I also see why some fans find it frustrating I’ve no idea how City/ United are able to spend as they do really (however I haven’t looked at their annual reports) .

23.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 13:55:52
Hopefully the LFC board will realize that to leapfrog Man Utd's EPL trophy collections is very important and LFC have great chances to make it happen at this time with Klopp.

24.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 22:18:49
Lots are using net spend as their point. How about agents' fees, salary/ contracts, insurance, and lots and lots more? This is me talking without me knowing much about these stuffs. Maybe almost zero knowledge. I'm talking purely on common sense.

Good god. What is happening with moat of you guys?

25.) 25 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 22:19:05
Just putting it out there, but not sure that FSG are the ones signing our injury prone, old and useless midfielders.

26.) 26 Aug 2022
26 Aug 2022 01:10:38
No i agree with a lot of the above, but to expand on my previous point. The club is in a lot better place than it was commercially. But on the pitch a lot of that has to do with klopp and his ability to go buy players at the right price.

I think looking at the amount of free transfers we have lost specially in that midfield would indicate, it is in a state. Next year we will lose ox and Naby. Who could have easily been sold last summer for good money. Succession planning seems a issue at the club at the moment.

27.) 26 Aug 2022
26 Aug 2022 04:55:46
Replying to Vishh26. This is me talking in a general term, without me knowing the actual facts.

Those free transfers - if those players weren't sold before they ran their contracts down, does it really mean that the club didn't want to sell them (before the contracts ran down)? Its possible that the club were willing to consider offers, but no offers were received. That is possible, right?

What you want the club to do? Force clubs to buy them?

"could easily be sold for good money". Things are not as easy as that.

28.) 26 Aug 2022
26 Aug 2022 08:49:59
Biggest fault with Klopp is he’s far too loyal to players ie Ox, Milner and Keita all 3 in my opinion should of gone but now we are left with two lame horses.

29.) 26 Aug 2022
25 Aug 2022 08:50:32
what next do a man u and break into the ground demanding FSG give us billions to spend .
Wake up and smell the roses people if FSG had not bought lfc we would be in a right mess yes we wish we had the money to buy a b and c player but we don't what we have is a fantastic ground world class manager and a squad that was close to imortality get a grip long way to go 106 points to play for.
