Allison has come out and said teams know how we play.

1.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 17:55:57
He is correct, if he said it. The managers job is to bring a surprise element to the party every so often!

2.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 18:38:58
If the players are saying that its worrying as they are going on the pitch thinking that, and it looks like that on the pitch to be honest, we play same formation same players same style week in week out year in year out . An element of surprise would be very handy but we all know that won't happen.

3.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 18:39:08
Lol, like no ? Sherlock.

4.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 18:51:52
How about 1 game we just park the bus and counter attack a team. because that's all they need to do against us.

5.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 19:17:07
They've known for a while, we are just slowing down to the point where it matters now.

6.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 19:18:30
Teams knew how we played last year. We had the quality to overwhelm teams for the most part. What a pointless conversation.

7.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 19:39:25
Maybe if pep lindgers put more effort into coaching than trying to be j. k rowling we wouldn't be in the mess we are. This guy thinks he's the second coming and is really beginning to irratate me with his interviews. He's an assistant coach and got binned from the only manager job he ever had in a farmers league.

8.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 19:51:59
Every team knows how City play, I don't see what point you're trying to make?

9.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 20:07:28
I think it’s more teams now know how to play against us.

10.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 19:35:27
So how do we play guys? Describe it to me. Go on

This is a nothing story. We are playing poorly and you morons need to get behind the team. Any team can analyze tape and say they know how we play - we used to be so good at it that knowing how we play and still beating us were separate.

There’s also no real way to quantify “how we play”. If I were an opposing fan I’d get so much joy out of watching you guys squirm at a little adversity. Good thing this team isn’t made of what you are.

Great point IR. We just need to get better at what we do. A few players being swapped out won’t hurt, but that’s the crux of it.

14.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 20:22:53
Saying teams know how we play is beyond stupid. Of course teams know how we play. But stopping us or us countering them stopping us is what decides outcomes. People really can be quite stupid.

15.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 20:24:00
yep pep's book has been irritating i agree. another needless distraction.

16.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 20:24:10
Teams have known how we play for years, just look at their first goal last night. Trent strolled after his man it was absolutely shocking to see. Vvd wasn't any better and got a mouthfull off Milner, every team loses the biggest worry for me is effort and attitude which for the first time in a long long time looks a bit off.

17.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 20:28:01
A change to 3-4-3 might stop the regular bus service operating through the middle of our defence at the moment.

A word of caution for the Bournemouth game, Scott Parker's last visit to Anfield was as Fulham manager which he won 1-0.

On the plus side for us Parkers win percentage as a Manager in the Premier League is 18%, let's hope it's still that after the game.

We hammered Man City to win the Charity Shield on the 30 July, who could have predicted our current position three weeks later, isn't football a funny old game.

TJ is on the money, and Redmick is the proof. Twice at that.

19.) 23 Aug 2022

TJ so anyone who shares a different opinion to you is a moron?

20.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 20:52:39
Pep’s book? You know you’re getting ridiculous when you come up with things that have nothing to do with anything. I think you guys sound insecure.

I just think it’s minor adjustments and getting some confidence back. Pretty hard to change up the playing group when 10 first teamers are out.

21.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 22:20:44
Of course not. But it’s been 3 games and you guys are writing off a team that almost won everything 3 months ago.

22.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 22:43:54
Slow day huh? Is there any manager in the PL or CL who hasn’t known how we play for the past 5 or 6 years? Even the ‘morons’ to resort to school ground name calling, would be able to figure out we play 4 3 3 with a high press and focus on winning the ball back when we lose it as high up the pitch as we can.

The point isn’t about teams knowing what we do (or us knowing what other teams don the point is about executing your plan and - apart from about 30 to 45 minutes in the Charity Shield against City - we haven’t been anywhere near as good as we can be at executing.

As an aside and maybe for those who possess a sense of humour, perhaps Keita’s contribution in the 40 odd games he played last season may have made a smidgeon of difference and we all agreed that Thiago was playing his best football for us at the backend of last season and both haven’t featured in the league yet. We are way below our recent standards at the moment but there are 35 games to go and some key members of the squad to come back. I’m not quite ready to give up on one of the top 2 or 3 teams in Europe / the world over the past three years and I’d bet that 99% of football teams in the country would jump at at the chance of swapping their manager and squad for ours. Again, just saying.

23.) 23 Aug 2022
23 Aug 2022 23:40:14
We were also two penalty shoot outs from winning nothing last year. I think the cup wins glossed over a poor end to the season, we didn't play particularly in any of the finals.
What concerns me is we seem to have lost our mojo a bit. Salah has been off his best for a while, VVD too and our full backs, it wasnt that long ago they were getting assists for fun, I can't even remember the last one.

24.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 00:40:52
Jk, TJ said that everyone who doesn’t get behind the team is a moron, not that everyone that disagrees with him is a moron.

I don’t agree with him, I don’t think that people who have a go at their team when things aren’t going right are morons. I don’t understand them, I don’t agree with them, but I don’t think they’re morons for doing so.

I think that TJ was just venting a bit of frustration at people that he sees as being a weak in their support of the team (sorry if I’ve put words in your mouth there TJ, just trying to get where you’re coming from) . I don’t think he wrote that they were morons for not agreeing with his opinion though. He was just offering an opinion of his own. I think he’s perfectly entitled to do that.

25.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 01:07:35
Can only remember two games in the 20 or so league Keita appeared in and actually made a difference in, the 5-0 against Man U and the 1-0 win against Newcastle. Two games. Just two. Kind of expect better for £50m+.

26.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 02:06:59
@Stuie you do actually realise that we won the two cups though? You also appreciate that we actually won several rounds to get to the finals and that no other team in the country did it? The cracks, as you have identified them, are relatively small.

If you look back over the past couple of years we identified the need to upgrade our defence - Konate, Tsimikas and latterly the very highly thought of Ramsay we’re brought in.

We identified the need to improve the overall quality of our attack - say hello to Jota, Diaz and Nunez. We also re-signed Mo to a new long term deal but lost lost Mane and Bobby is on the wane but we have also brought in Carvalho who could step into the Bobby role - time will tell.

The (perceived) weak link is now the midfield. We will lose Millie as a player at the end of this season, Ox too and potentially Keita if the new contract isn’t agreed. That said we have, when they are back from injury more than enough to see us through the season acknowledging that one or two new players would / could ‘freshen’ things up. I think in an ideal world from the clubs perspective we would have signed Tchouameni and Bellingham but that wasn’t to be - we could probably eased some fans nerves by buying other midfielders but the general consensus is that we wasted a lot of money on midfielders who haven’t fit the bill so what’s the point in spending heaps of money on someone. (or two) that the club aren’t convinced about.

All clubs go through ‘poor’ spells during the season - City and Chelsea tailed off last year, we had a dodgy run mid-season. We should be wary and it would be good to get some of the troops back, say Kelleher, Matip, Konate, Thiago, Jones, Keita and Jota and get Nunez back from suspension and things will start to look a bit brighter.

There’s a post put up yesterday that said our bench at United was poor. Apart from the obvious disrespect shown to the youngsters by the poster it is not really surprising that the bench looks relative weak when a third of our first team squad is out for one reason or another. All the players I mentioned above would be in our match day squad. Take a third out of anybody’s squad - Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, United, even City and they would struggle.

Great points WWW ?.

28.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 07:39:10
WDW, that's all well and good, but I did say that it glossed over a poor 'end' to the season. Yes we won the earlier rounds to reach the finals, playing excellent football, but you cannot deny our end of season or final performances were a big drop off.

We won two finals in shoot outs, which are a complete lottery. Another day, we could have ended up losing both just as easily. The drop off is alarming.

I am not arguing that we haven't invested, far from it in my opinion, but like I said, it has glossed over the cracks. I said the other week on here that people are saying we need a Bellingham etc, but we need more than one MF.

It has been quite obvious for some time that a large proportion of the team are of a similar age and on contracts of a similar length, if we aren't careful, we could end up in a situation where we need to replace half the first team.

29.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 08:15:10
Allison must be the moron then. What ever happened to support the players and YNWA.

30.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 09:44:34
@JK23 a rather large leap there. Where does it say Ali is a moron? If you read what has been written again the inference, if there is any, is that he is sensible in recognising the fact that opposition teams know the way we play.

31.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 09:45:58
But isn't that the fundamental problem, we have a lot of players who now get injured regularly, hard to win leagues with players like that.

32.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 10:12:28
"everyone knows how we play"

Everyone knew that hasslebaink would shift to the right and shoot low across the keeper.

Everyone knows Salah will cut inside to shoot on his left.

Everyone knew Michael Owen was going to break off the last defender.

Knowing what someone will do doesn't mean you can do anything about it if it's done well. Our problem is we are not doing it well.

33.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 10:17:43
Of the players you name WDW only really Matip, Konate, Thiago and possibly Jota make a difference in the starting 11 and we’re very unlikely to see Matip, Konate and Thiago for a good two months at the very least by which time we could be well out of contention for the league and struggling to break top four given our quite appalling form. But even then, what odds Thiago breaking down again? We have far too many players who are far too fragile.

34.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 10:54:11
WDW a load of Aberdeen fans told me he was a moron and what they say is gospel.

36.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 12:30:37
Perhaps I shouldn’t have said moron - but I find it very short sighted to be writing this team off so soon. I’m also tired of seeing “we need x player from this team - why are they strengthening and we aren’t? ” in pure MotD fever (I’ve seen some wanting to be more like Arsenal on here of all teams) .

I’ve also seen some calling klopp an idiot, insane, you name it, calling out his lack of success (lol) . Saying FSG haven’t backed us again after we’ve spent a fortune in the market. For those, I will continue to use the word moron.

We have an excellent team, and though it is not as simple as it seems, we just have to rediscover our flow and play better. This team certainly doesn’t pull themselves out of a funk without support.

One last thing: What Allison said is fine - and for the record, he’s the best keeper on the planet. It’s not even close.

37.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 17:40:10
TJ on the money yet again.
Detached posting with clarity is in short supply at the moment on here, and he's got it in spades.
Top class fella, keep 'em coming.

38.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 17:56:01
Well for a start teams know to target us down our right side as Trent goes walkabouts and exploit the space he leaves. They know Trent plays and use that to their advantage. But what is Klopp doing to balance it? He plays Harvey Elliot on the right and expects him to cover Trent and Salah but still be an attacking threat ?.

39.) 24 Aug 2022
24 Aug 2022 19:43:03
Trent goes walkabout = Trent gets sent forward to create chances.
Take the chances that Trent creates out of the picture and things would look a whole lot worse.
If Klopp was to tell Trent to stay home and not cross the halfway line it would be a criminal waste of a proven quality attacking outlet.
The whole team is slightly out of sync and form at the moment and probably short of confidence too. The only cure is playing through it, like marathon runners "hitting the wall".
There is no magic cure other than hard work on the training pitch and getting injured players back.
