Seen some rumours Man Utd have bid for Ugarte. Has our interest ended since the tapping up or is he player we still may make a move for.
{Ed002's Note - Manuel Ugarte (DM) Agent has said that the player and PSG may be open to a move if the right offer is made. He has spoken with Chelsea but it is difficult to see if they have a need. He has also spoken with Manchester United, Juventus, Newcastle, Milan, Spurs and Arsenal. I suspect Italy is the most likely destination but PSG might see any sale being dependent on adding Guimaraes although, right now, he appears to be heading elsewhere.}

Patrik, we made the choice of not moving on Guimaraes in January 2022, despite following him for a while.
Luckily, we have Mac Allister who is as good, has a better temperament and is younger.
I still think Ugarte would be a good signing for Liverpool, despite his struggles in Paris. He might not as technical as Tchouameni or Rodri (who is? ) but he will make up for that in sheer ball recovery output. I'd also wager that like Darwin and his compatriot, Suarez, he'll feed (no pun) off the fan energy to overperform.
At the same time, Ederson would be a fine choice.

Not good enough for PSG and not good enough for us. We need a midfielder who can use the ball as well as he can win it. Ugarte is very limited in this regard, said the same thing last year when we"missed out"on him.

I will second that FPY. Manuel Ugarte would be a solid addition. His ball recovery is second to none.

Personally I’d rather we sign Ederson over either of those as he absolutely dominated us over two legs and was one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe last season.

Ugarte is really not great on the ball, I’m hoping all of you who slate Endo in that regard aren’t asking for Ugarte as a replacement, Endo in my eyes is rather better at using the ball than he is…we need a 6 who can also break the lines carrying the ball or passing it from deep, ederson fits the mould perfectly.
