Elliott is a baller, wonderful goal. Still hope Palace go down they play awful negative football. However they should have won that. Never two yellows for Ayew, the standard. of reffing in this league is dross. It really really is.

{Ed025's Note - you are still getting your pay back for the spurs game KK, i dont know how long it will last mate but make the most of it..

Kimuraking. th1, how were the two yellows on Ayew not yellow? He was booked first for dissent and stopping the resumption of play. The second one was a blatant foul by stopping a clear counter attack. Dissent and stopping a clear counter attack are bookable offences so please, enlighten me on how either of those decisions are not yellow cards? Seriously, Im curious.

@Ed25, I fully agree with you on that cos tho 21 points from losing positions is impressive while at the same time, it is a very dangerous and deceptive stat cos well, it is completely unsustainable. I get it, I'll take the points BUT nobody is pulling the wool over my eyes. We need to improve away from home vs the bottom half and fast.

It was a poor performance from us again but we worked hard, had abit of luck and klopp made the right substitutions. We really need baj in or a proper 6 in January. Palace we're always going to be tough away. Great result. Elliot i hope this helps him to propel.

Not sure how 25 they took the game back 2m for that pen when it would have been 2 seconds to give us that goal v spuds, rules are a disgrace and need sorting out massively.

{Ed025's Note - im with you danny the standard of refereeing is pathetic mate..

Danny88232, I'm with you but apparently by the rules, the pen was being checked and since the check took that long to complete, they had to bring it back as that is the protocol. Now we can argue on how far back the play has to go to bring it back or let it go and I have no idea about any of that but according to whatI just learnt, that is the protocol.

The difference here is that on the Diaz situation, they said "Check complete" stupidly and as soon as that was done, the FIFA protocol (nonsense, IMO) says you can't bring it back. I disagree with that rubbish, as you may know but that is the protocol in this instance.

But Oli there is no protocol if the VAR has miscommunicated their decision to the ref and the ref had carried on after giving the incorrect decision. Common sense should take over in this instance and the game should be stopped and the correct decision given.

The protocol is a red herring mate if they’d stopped the game to give Diaz’s goal they would not have gone against any protocols and they would’ve got the right decision.

The fact that they can check a pen for 2 minutes before stopping the game just proves it can be done.

Joel ward should have also been sent off for hacking Jones down before the Salah goal if mk misses that's a penalty and a red and the quansah penalty was soft. We need a CB January konate was his rash self and Gomez only plays well at right back.

I think we are getting away with it a bit at the moment. However sometimes you need the breaks and the rub of the green. Key for me is to buy a real number 6, and replace Matip.

I think the thing Oli is the game is gone daft. He should at least have got one warning. There has to be some common sense to keep 11 on the pitch. In the second one there was a decent enough attempt to get the ball. And there surely can be a warning there.

Don't get me wrong I was happy for the red as it wasn't happening for us today but i d be off my head if a Liverpool got a red card for that.

{Ed001's Note - why should he have got a warning? It is an automatic booking according to the rules. I would be going off my head at a Liverpool player if he made a challenge like that knowing he was already on a booking.}

Not a second yellow for me. We rode our luck and Harvey pulled us out of the ship.
The performances are worrying, but the results are perfect ???.

I don't get all the talk over the 2nd yellow, he stops the counter with a tactical foul that's a clear yellow.

If anything I thought the first yellow was much more harsh as the ref could've spoken to him and asked him to get out of the way before booking him.

Yeah ward was lucky mo scored as they would have been down to 9 imo . Ref wasn’t the best but I think the var or re refs we should call them where trying their best to influence the game in some way . All being said think we got away with 1 their today as we didn’t look like scoring until we had the man advantage which was on the harsh side . Both cards are debatable imo but I think the palace players where throwing themselves around a bit and flying in to tackles and play was allowed to go on at times when their was clear fouls committed. So I’m made up he was sent as he dived to win a free kick in the corner off gakpo and I don’t like that so sod him I’m made up he was sent.

It's the rules I have a problem with Ed. I prefer what I would call a common sense approach. For me I think it's crazy that Ayew gets a red card for that.

If that's the case Arnold should have 100% been sent off against Newcastle. Another decision I would have been against.

I just don't think everything should be black and white. I think there's a grey approach. I get people will differ from me on this but for me its better than all the Reds and penalties we see these days. It's ruining games. I get that you can't leave a team tactical foul away but there were defenders back. Stern talking to in my opinion then a red on anything else.

Of course I always respect your opinion. And I get the problems with game management refereeing too. I just hate all the reds nowadays and I find them very harsh sometimes.

{Ed001's Note - I understand what you are saying and I would have no problem if you could trust referees to use common sense. But you can't. So you have to have it black and white or the morons in black make a mockery of things.}

If that’s the case why didn’t jota get a warning?

14.) 09 Dec 2023
09 Dec 2023 17:28:11
But regardless of mo. scored shouldn't he still be sent off and the goal awarded for hacking down Jones recklessly? I'm not sure on the rules but pretty sure he could be.

The thing that wound me up listening to the commentary is that they were saying Ayew’s second yellow was ridiculous yet Gomez and Diaz both got booked for less and they said nothing!

Ed1 is spot on, in a game where decisions are under the spotlight like never before the refs are like rabbits caught in the headlights so you have to make it black and white or they’ll cock it up.

We all want consistency and that means a tactical foul that stops a promising attack is a yellow card. Unless your name is Rodri then you’re allowed.

The first yellow was very soft but again the rules state that if you make a move to block the ball it’s a yellow. It’s black and white. He stuck his leg out to stop the free kick being taken so he got booked.

Saying that I do think they need to take a look at the rules because all these red cards are ruining the game. It went in our favour today but we’ve had more than our fair share of games this season when it hasn’t.

{Ed025's Note - i can only remember 1 BP and that was the spurs game, the rest of the time its been payback from the PGMOL to make up for their massive mistake, it could actually win you the league mate, and i can live with that if we stay up..

Davey - he didn't get a red card for that second challenge. He got a second yellow card.

Also Ayew was given a warning ages before. it was the first yellow card.

Totally agree Mizer, for me the only strange thing about the game was that Palace didn’t just roll over when we showed up. Same with Sheffield, City and Fulham - you’d think that they’d know that we have a right to the three points just because we show up.
