Your message is well-written, Fandomonium,

You have made some solid points, although I'd like to touch on that comparison to Wenger. Imo, Klopp has faced these challenges mostly due to a lack of investment year after year.

These are Klopp's latest comments (as posted by WTR on the discussion page) :
"I have all the information, and I know what is possible and what's not, and it's not always exactly what I want. But it's not my job to complain; it's my job to take the team we have at the end of the transfer window and make the best of it. "

Klopp's annual quote on 'I have to make this squad work'.

I mean, we all know 2 more signings and we'll possibly be challenging on all fronts and still it's not happening. It may not happen and then we'll be one injury away from crisis. The owner, management, recruitment team - they all know that. But still no movement, and as a supporter, it's disheartening. We're always so close and yet so far.

Klopp seems to know what to expect from the owners, and fortunately for us, he's willing to work within that framework.

You know why we never have to worry about FFP? It's because FSG's approach is even more restrictive. Such is the bitter irony!

It's too emotive and exaggerated for me. It's also factually incorrect. We played Southampton away when we conceded four goals.
I'm not very happy with the team and squad recruitment but I don't see an absolute mess or the falling off cliffs either.
I'm somewhere in-between and I don't really know what is going on behind the scenes and how to improve things, realistically, but I enjoy discussing those things. Maybe having enjoyed so much success I'm not as desperate for us to be as successful. Yet some seem incapable of enjoying success when it does come along.
It takes all sorts, I suppose.

FFP will never be a problem for us as we only spend what the club earns.

£59m net spend after a "massive rebuild". Lmao.

Theredkop at the end of the season if we don’t sign anybody else I don’t think it will be nowhere near that if you take into account wages saved.

Martin Lewis money saving title surely in the bag.

Rather than an open top bus around the city, to save more money I’d just get the squad and Klopp to walk it.

You're right on the money, TheRedKop.

It's as clear as daylight that our squad is in dire need of depth.

It was so evident that even after bringing in Macca and Szobos, everyone, from the Eds here to top-notch journalists, supporters, and more, anticipated that Liverpool would make at least two signings - one in the central midfield and one for the center-back position. They still do.

But regrettably, it seems like we won't even reach the bare-minimum expectations. It's the same story every transfer window!

JK, I’m just Klopp has trimmed that pesky wage bill or you might find there would be even less money to buy players.
At least that was one of the reasons/ excuses (take your pick), given out last season.

Fandamonium, you make some very salient points and some if your concern like how we went from being smart and having savvy operators in the background to looking directionless is a very big concern.

However, let’s not get too hyperbolic here. IMO, Arsenal are not better than us cos they have only had good period if so in 7 years of abject mediocrity hence, they are in no way our equal yet, imo. They’re going to have to do a lot more than having a title challenge (first since 2008, btw) that amounted to winning sweet nothing at the end to be compared to us in any way, imo.

Also, the Wenger comparison is a bit much, imo. Klopp has nowhere near the power Wenger had, imo. Wenger’s level of hubris, stubbornness and insolence towards the fans is nowhere near Klopp’s conduct here. You and I may disagree with what he does but in no way, is Klopp as arrogant as Wenger would become. Again, “No one man should have all that power” by Kanye West comes to mind here.

Therefore, we know we need a midfielder and a CB. Ed02 has said for one CB to come in, one has to go and Klopp has said no more departures. I think Matip and Phillips (for diff reasons) should have gone but what can I do? Get into fits of rage cos I didn’t get my way? As for the extra mid, we shall see who we get if indeed we get someone. Love the essay, man.

Bit over Klopp’s comments about the squad. I mean sorry, who paid for the 100 midfielders who could never play cos they were injured? Who paid for the 5 CBS we currently have who are often injured and one who is used and never plays? Who paid for the embarrassingly deep front line that we have?

Yeah, just work with the squad you have. Hardly a bunch of rag tag nobodies.

Phillips, Gomez and Matip came in for 3.5m in transfer fees, but yeh just work with the squad you have Jurgen you moan. As for the 100 midfielders.

Likelihood is the owners will be here after Klopp.

Let’s see if another manager can do what Klopp has under FSG’s model.

I didn’t find Wenger on bit arrogant whatsoever. What I do know is that he steered Arsenal thru difficult times when they moved stadiums and the costs involved.

Nice one, Fandomonium. can't disagree with you what you wrote.

People might not like the words "mess", "shambolic" and "dysfunctional" but if there are better words for what we're seeing, then feel free to share them.

I get really annoyed with some ‘fans’ on this site, if you want the club to spend more money then put your hands in your own pockets and buy merchandise.
By the way, Brighton seem to be doing fine on a shoe string budget finding quality players. Maybe Klopp should listen to his scouting team more?

Hey Mushroom I’ve had a season ticket for 20 years and buy kits each year for my kids so cut that rubbish out. Additionally Brighton are operating on their level, we are not Brighton we’re Liverpool and show be recruiting established talent. Another FSG lover I see. Rodgers similarly was hung out to dry too should he have listened to recruitment?

{Ed001's Note - Rodgers hung out to dry? In what way? That is just an putright lie. Bodgersmwas just hopeless and wanted to just buy one type of player all the time.}

Frode, I agree that we are not Brighton and the comparison is pretty false. But the only thing worse than calling someone an FSG lover just cos they disagree with you, is saying Rodgers was hung out to dry. Almost fell out of my chair reading that waffle. Made my morning too. You should consider a career in comedy.

Frode Kippers, you mean established talent like Salah? Or Diaz? Maybe Trent? Or Robertson?
Brighton was an example and not a comparison, but I’m sure the intellectuals would have understood that.
Oh and congratulations on buying kits and season tickets, I’m sure FSG thank you for it ?.
