It embarrassing. Not for Liverpool, but for the numpty players who want to play in London. Disgraceful. Cash is king. Even when you're a trillionaire.

Embarrassing that they signed a 50m player to be back up to the the 100m player and he can't see he will be keeping the bench warm.

{Ed002's Note - He is not a back up. Another player is the back up - Chelsea have been looking to replace departed defensive-minded players like Kante, and Jorginho. Why do you all keep whining.}

Let’s wait and see on the Lavia deal. What’s alarming though is reports we have to convince him. If Liverpool have once again put in a bid for a player in the space of a few days without having 100% assurances he will join - then I’m sorry it’s embarrassing for Liverpool. I will wait to see how the Lavia deal plays out but if he ends up going to Chelsea then we need an overhaul not only of the squad but those handling transfers. A medical should have been arranged but we are yet to hear anything about he is on the way to Liverpool. And what tops it off is we haven’t even got round to addressing the need for a LCB. Inacio has a £45 million release clause so what are we waiting for? Should have been done weeks ago and after Robbo’s display against Chelsea that bid shouldd have gone in a few hours after the match.

Let's forget it and move on. Done. Good luck to them both, they'll need it ?.

I don’t know what the rush is for Lavia.

The transfer window is open for another 2 weeks yet.

Let’s keep negotiating and sign him on the 31st of August.

All he would have missed is 7 weeks pre season and our first 3 games. They’re hardly a big deal if we can save a quid or two.

How can Lavia give us a 100% assurance that he will join without us speaking to Southampton?
Why is anyone getting embarrassed?
Get a grip, Red Men.

How does anyone really know what the players motivation is?

With Caicedo, you have to remember that he has family living in London. For such a young kid from Ecuador, I can absolutely see that being a big factor. The manager is South American, Chelsea have done a lot more work in persuading him to join. there's a lot more than just money that could be helping his decision.

No one knows what will happen with Lavia, yet. However, if you think he'll only end up as a bench warmer at Chelsea, is that a player you'd want starting for LFC?

Let's just see what happens. If Lavia chooses to join - fantastic. If he chooses Chelsea - fair enough, we move on to another target.

I thought we were paying more than the asking price, JK.
Your stance is changing by the hour.
It's like you're looking for something to be embarrassed about.

That's the spirit JK23, talk nonsense but make it obvious this time.

Cheers Rigsby always good engaging with you. I’ll go back to not bothering again now ?.

14 Aug 2023 13:30:45
Rigsby. Because that’s how transfer work. You speak to the representatives and they say yes my client would be interested or no we won’t. Then you place the bid so I’m not sure why that hard to understand?

11.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 13:33:19
Our DOF is a joke. he stil thinks he is in German second tier. He is getting owned left right and center. Its an embarassment when you are simply thhrowing money around without the consent of the player first and foremost. We should ahve wrappd Lavia ages back. I am sure a few posters on this site would blame Klopp for this shambles just like last year.

12.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 13:44:46
The Caceido one is strange, I mean surely before bidding we'd have spoken to his agent to see if he'd be open to the move? Embarrassing really cos either we haven't sounded that out, the player has agreed the move and changed his mind then or he was never open to the move and the agent lied and used our bid to force Chelsea's hand - strange stuff indeed

Lot of talk in the media saying Chelsea couldn't afford the fee due to ffp but they've sold loads do prob the usual media rubbish

Reports saying we'll be back in for Lavia but must match Chelsea's 55m bid - how much money do this club have lol?

Further reports linking us with Sangare so honestly who knows what will happen- still time to sign a cdm and a cb, so here's hoping lads.

Judging by the posts on here even our own fans aren’t convinced by the tactics or the conduct of the club regarding transfers, why is it so weird that we have to convince players of our project, whose future depend on it, if even the fans aren’t convinced. Seems very sensible of the player and something we all would do if it were about our job and our future.

14.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 13:47:09
Don’t get the embarrassment thing. Irritating yes but you move on. I can only guess that similar situations have happened before, just not as public. Caicedo changed his mind or reverted to his original choice.
Suck it up and move on.

Caicedo is a very good player but it was only back in January when he thew his toys out of the pram. Arsenal had bids rejected by Brighton and he wrote a statement online asking that Brighton accept! Brighton withdrew him from the team and rightly so.

Roll on 7 months and all he wants is Chelsea, I actually find it quite amusing. The guy screems trouble

Chelsea signing players on 7, 8 year deals with 1 year extensions, all well and good until they want to move a player on

Just my thoughts.

16.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 14:24:41
Bill, according to the Brighton COE Liverpool did speak with Caicedo's agents before they lodged their bid, and stated that they behaved disgracefully after telling Liverpool that Caicedo would be up for a move to us.

I listened to the interview myself, so know it is true.

For me he can p. off to Chelsea.

Liverpool have done nothing wrong here, so all the posts stating otherwise are plain daft in my opinion.

In my opinion we got a really good point there yesterday, because not many other teams will this season.

I always enjoy exchanging opinions, JK. We all bother, mate; that's why we come here. We all want the same thing but we might disagree about what we should bother about.
The forum, like others I've been on, is quite black and white even though we are all Reds.

Come on JK23, it's all fun and games, don't take it personally ?.

19.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 14:43:01
Alonso, but a player can't give a 100% assurance that he will join before a bid has been made. The club also has a say. And what if things change? A player might agree to play for Liverpool but that might change if another shows an interest. Madrid or London might be more appealing as places to live and work.

20.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 15:26:32
Let’s take the words assurances and embarrassing out of the conversation and replace them with unprepared, rash, go ahead, interested, willingly, likely or insert any word you feel comfortable with. Therefore we steer clear of entering into a semantics debate.

London and Madrid most likely will play a part in a players choice. I’m well aware Liverpool is not the be and end all of some players as much as us Liverpool fans would like to think. Caicedo situation was simple, we joined the party late and Chelsea had built up a rapport with the player. So I’m not sweating that at all even if he is a fantastic player no one is bigger than the club.

It was more of how it played out but it’s happened and we move on. In regards to Lavia, Chelsea had put in a bid for him last week. So it’s not like we put in acceptable bid to Southampton and then Chelsea came out of nowhere. So if, with the emphasis on the word if, we have now put in an acceptable bid without a ‘go ahead’ from his agent and the player himself. Then I don’t know what to say. Anyways, I’m sure most fans can agree we have been caught flat footed in this transfer window. Which is even more when you consider all the areas that needs addressing, from your DM to your LCB we knew about before the transfer window opened.

21.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 16:28:17
So, even though we are steering clear of semantics, can you tell me about the rapport built between Chelsea and Caceido, please, Alonso?

I don't know what's happening with Lavia. We've made bids, one that has been accepted but I don't know about talks between us and him and where he wants to go.
Flat footed? Hmmmm, possibly. But we've played one game and I know very little about signing football players. I know the kind of players that I like but I doubt we'd have a chance of signing them.

22.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 16:29:05
From what I have read, chelsea have been in discussions with him and his camp since jan and put a lot of effort into it. It seems we tried to hijack their deal with Brighton's blessing and encouragement blessing, who are the clear beneficiaries of this whole fiasco without his blessing. Then they tried to force the deal on him and gone all bad.

The kid supports a family of 9 so has every right to look after what's best for him before appeasing one set of fans over another. Grow up the lot of you.

If anything Brighton in all of this are the bad actors and if i am a young player going there I would get my agent to give me an exit route in the future.

23.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 16:54:42
Rigsby. Not sure if you’re obtuse for the sake of it or being genuine. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume the latter. Chelsea have been pursuing Caicedo and in dialogue with his camp since May and possibly earlier. If you want to argue that with me fine but ask an Ed on here and they will confirm it. To be honest is not a secret but is widely known. As for bringing up one game in what might be a way to drive a narrative that fans are being reactionary. Then I’ll speak for myself and not others. The problems we have was evident last season never mind on Sunday. The problems needed addressing last season never mind at the start of the window. Look, if you’re okay, content or whatever you are with how we have been in the transfer window so far then that’s fine. You’re allowed to be same way others are allowed to be, concerned, confused, frustrated or not content with things. We still have time to sign a DM and LCB. But to expect that to have happened before the season started is not a wild expectation.

24.) 14 Aug 2023
14 Aug 2023 17:40:40
Alonso, so you don't know about this 'rapport'?

Last season? We have sold Henderson and Fabinho since last season. The midfield needed rebuilding before they went but most of us expected them to be here this season. You can't use the benefit of hindsight of what had happened this summer and go on about the problems of last summer.

Who, in your opinion, do we sign then that completes the rebuild that was needed last season and that covers the losses of Henderson and Fabinho?
