I really don't get the fans obsession with getting lavia done. Maybe liverpool just done think he's worth the money, is he really that much better than bajcetic?, also I have a feeling they might be holding on as a player they previously thought would be unavailable this summer might now end up being available later in the window (for example a couple at real Madrid. or others)

I don’t think it is the Baj’ comparison that are making fans obsessive but more the question of depth!

I’m not a worried individual right now because we do have time and I am not personally in camp and therefore don’t know the thinking or level of panic from within but for sure if there is panic within it is not being shown by the manager.

I personally would like more but I trust even more.

Obviously everyone is just concerned due to previous windows and being left short in areas. (midfield)

I don't think anyone that is signed now will start anyway.

But we have consistently gone into campaigns short and it's constantly back fired.
A big Madrid player would be worth the wait but we're just not that savy.

If we get another Melo, Kabak or Caulker loan deal done at the final hour of the transfer window I’d imagine it would appease the mass hysteria and panic of the fan base.

There is no obsession with Lavia in particular from the fans. It’s just that we desperately need a defensive midfielder and he is the only one we’re aware that the club is actually making concrete attempts to sign.

Most of us would rather have someone else, but we’d all much rather have Lavia than nobody.

Lennon I don’t get the obsession with Lavia full stop. I can’t see other being worried if we sign him and even if we did I still don’t think it’s enough to Mount a serious challenge with the amount of players having left already. I hope for £50m we would be buying a ready made starter, not a kid who just played one season for a relegated team. Show some patience and get the right player. Ps, if the scouts end up paying that for him because they think he is the right player I’m sure they know better than me.

We finished 22 points off last season and next season starts this weekend without us having a DM. We're going to do as little as we can this window and try fool fans into thinking top 4 is a good season and the sad reality is a lot of them will fall for it.

It is amusing that, like I say, the manager is not panicking or if he is he could actually be a worthy contender for the next James Bond!

I think it is hard to argue against that we have the best goalkeeper in the league and then the best attack and I am seeing a few good signs of getting back to the heavy press game (albeit a contrasting one) that worked well for us previously under Klopp.

Yes I have said I’d like a couple more recruits but recruits for numbers sake is a bad bad tactic and recruits at an over priced cost also.

But I do think we have a pretty good squad as it is and I do recall prior solid seasons where pre season was lest than promising in the goal concession stakes, only to be turned head over come commencement of the real stuff!

So like I’ve said before I’m going to trust in Klopp a manager that is at his best when building from new! Doubters can doubt and opinions are opinions but for someone to discuss relegation battles on here as I saw earlier is just over doing the panic!

Oh and we finished 2021/ 22 one point off and started 2022/ 23 WITH a “recognised defensive” midfielder if that really is a thing (see below) in the 22 points adrift season afterwards.

In my day Midfielders were midfielders yes there were some better at passing some better at tackling etc etc but they did their part regardless - nowadays they are all athletes and I think that counts heaps and it for me is a little at what Klopp is getting at when he says we must defend and attack as a team!

There’s one thing about covering a position on the field covering a space in defence and getting into space in attack and another about being labelled a specific position as if we are all more static.

We need athleticism and flexibility and I think we have it in this team! We lacked it last season as legs got older. A couple of additional buys would be great but I do really think there is over reaction to a lack of our going in position I really do!

People aren't obsessed with Lavia. They're obsessed that the "rebuild" promised, hasn't materialised. The issue is that rightly or wrongly the media built up the Bellingham signing and liverpool did nothing to dissuade it until they finally publicly pulled out of it by suggesting they needed to fund a rebuild and not spend their entire budget on one player. We've now had 6 midfield players leave and have only bought in 2. Whilst those two are good additions they are not enough. We also need defensive cover which hasn't materialised and its now less than a week to the start of the season. Also I can't for one second believe Klopp sanctioned the unplanned sales of Hendo and Fabs without being giving assurances that they would be replaced and if they're not that is a recipe for a broken relationship between manager and board.

We are fixing the bang average but very hard working midfield .

Those who are panicking are free to do so and indeed, there is some validity to that. All I’m saying and been saying is that do not think for one second that cos you’re panicking then the club should panic too. That simply will not happen and that is not an opinion. That is literally what is happening.

As for Klopp, he is manager who’s job is to win games and is paid handsomely to do so. Therefore, he lives in the here and now meaning, he has a season and a game to prepare for and will work with the players hechts at his current disposal. The guy has no tile to panic and shrug his shoulders, throw his hands up and lament like fans do. He has a game to prepare for. If people think he will do that then, they are barking up the wrong tree, in my view.

Clearly the club is working hard to get the best deal fir a player or players they want. They will either pay the money required or look elsewhere. There is NO official deadline here apart from the one set for the end of the TW. That is how they see things, imo. It ish what it is like it or not.

IMO, I do not think ANY club does transfer business with the opinions of fans in mind or how “bad” they may make fans look to their bros online or on Twitter. Well except if you’re Man Utd. Wait and see.

bit of a perfect storm.

1 - more midfielders left than we thought/ expected
2 - we have only brought in 2 midfielders to with 6 departing
3 - we have these gaping holes due to the hybrid RB system
4 - Liverpool see these holes and think there is some kind of super human who has the speed of Flash Gordon to cover these gaps
5 - We're Liverpool fans

all that combined is resulting in a meltdown over not having signed a 19 year old for $50 million.
