Jota banjaxed i hear!

Not sure how much truth this is as it would probably take a few days to get the complete assessment.

STRALFC

1.) 17 Oct 2022 12:42:25
I am gutted for jota he is so important to this team and for him personally I wish he could catch a solid run on the pitch, its now a chance to play nunez on the left where he could actually thrive completely different problem for defenders.

2.) 17 Oct 2022 12:57:30
Sounds serious, never injured my banjax before, sounds painful though.

3.) 17 Oct 2022 15:19:39
Snapped my banjo string once, if it’s similar then I feel for the guy ?.

4.) 17 Oct 2022 17:30:01
You liar 1985mikey. Liar. You wouldn't be joking about it if it had happened ?.

5.) 17 Oct 2022 19:46:23
I actually googled "banjaxed" and freaking h*ll, the word actually exists. ?.

6.) 17 Oct 2022 19:48:33
I feel your pain Mikey, women are so lucky they never have to experience the dreaded banjo snap ?.

7.) 17 Oct 2022 20:08:10
As they say one man's misfortune is another man's fortune! Curtis Jones now has the opportunity to play the role Jota has been doing quite well recently, he started his academy future as a left winger, he now has to grasp what could well be his last chance at a future LFC career.

Also one hopes the person/ persons who threw the coins at Guardiola are identified and banned from the club for life, they spoiled a perfect day for everyone connected with LFC.

Eds or anyone for that matter, what do we think about Darwin Nunez?

From what i seen of him i honestly think he could be the next big thing.

Is there any interest from us or is it the usual. Real and Barca.

STRALFC

{Ed002's Note - Darwin Nunez (S) Benfica don't want to sell Nunez but they have had serious interest from several sides. Long term followers Manchester City enquired about Darwin Nunez again last summer were told he won't be available before the summer of 2022. He was not their preferred choice and they have signed one of their preferred choices now so they can be discounted. Borussia Dortmund were also keen on him as an option to replace Haaland when he leaves in the summer, but they have agreed a deal with their preferred choic. Bayern Munich could cash in on the last year of Lewandowski’s contract in the summer and look to a replacement – but they have several other options in mind. Milan have a sustained interest and tried to sign him before he moved to Benfica, but financial issues mean they will need to sell other assets as they have other players they wish to add as well - and he is the most expensive of their primary Ibrahimovich replacement targets – they can be discounted even under new ownership. Manchester United had a very high-end scout and ex-Premier League player look at him on several occasions on their behalf but would likely need to be in the Champions League to be considered - so it will be a hard sell for them, but I suspect they will push. Barcelona have enquired, knowing that signing their preferred option is difficult, but were told they would have to pay his full €150M release clause to sign him. They can be discounted. Inter want to replace Alexis Sanchez with Nunez but moving on Sanchez is a serious problem for them – he has no value and will want to see out his contract on his last major salary in Europe. Suarez will leave Atletico in the summer, and they might provide a viable solution – but they would not be able to pay his release clause and could only make something happen if Benfica would accept more than one player as part of the deal. Brighton, West Ham, Newcastle and Arsenal have shown an interest but are far from attractive options and most certainly a step back. Chelsea have scouted Nunez and he has been recommended by an ex-player who was approached to be the new Sporting Director - but it is unlikely the club will push unless Lukaku leaves permanently. Do not rule out a bid from PSG. Scouts from many other sides, including Roma and Spurs have been watching a number of Benfica players - including Nunez. I am not aware of approachfrom Liverpool, nor where he would fit in without a change of tactics. Benfica will look to achieve at least €80M.}

Ooof eds in a boss mood, them last 3 responses were awsome :) quick ask him anything whilst he's in a good mood.

Thank you Ed by the way the reason we're all here.

2.) 01 Jun 2022 11:36:21
ed002 - thanks for that amazing response, covers all bases. Top response.

To add just coming round from Paris! The good the bad and very ugly was witnessed there.

3.) 01 Jun 2022 12:33:11
There’s videos of him going around showing how he can’t control a football. It’s like a clip of his worst bits. Quite funny. Goes to show what a YouTube video could do. I’ve only seen him play against us, no idea what he’s like on a consistent basis. I don’t know how you all have time to watch Portuguese football. I barely get time to watch English, and even that is only Liverpool games.

He is coveted though, usually tells you something about the player.

4.) 01 Jun 2022 13:21:08
Hi Eds,

I know that you have mentioned about some of players that liverpool interested in? However, appreciate if you can share your summary once more about players that liverpool is approaching in now for sadio mane/ salah's replacement? Is it jarrod bowen/ raphinha/ sarr etc.? Thank you Ed and have a nice day.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool approaching any of these players. You can probably forget Raphinha as he is in discussions about heading elsewhere. I would also discount Sarr who is also discussing moving elsewhere. Bowen may be possible but I am not sure if West Ham would sell - and there would be interest from elsewhere. Dembele remains liked by Klopp and he is versatile. Moussa Diaby seems very unlikely. Asensio is available as a Free Agent but interest appears to have waned. Paulo Dybala is looking to move elsewhere. Kingsley Coman can likely be forgotten. Serge Gnabry could be considered a good Salah replacement - but that won't be this summer. Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld might be a good addition - a right footed LW. Another side are pushing for Jeremy Doku. Martin Terrier and Jonathan David have been looked at. And of course the club has looked at a number of more central forwards like Hugo Ekitike.

5.) 01 Jun 2022 15:18:49
Man. Someone else said it already but you are really treating us today Ed002. Just want to say massive massive thank you.

Anyone hear that the Liverpool/ Leeds game has been called off?

STRALFC

1.) 23 Dec 2021 12:14:04
Just seen its been confirmed as called off.

2.) 23 Dec 2021 13:08:48
got to think that's great news. Boys get to see their families for more time over Christmas and get to rest so we are full throttle for the crucial Leicester and Chelsea away games. Even better would be if City drop points.

3.) 23 Dec 2021 13:34:35
WarMachine, all well and good, but the game has to be played at some point. Whilst they get to rest now, it will have to be squeezed in further down the line.

{Ed0666's Note - I disagree Leeds game being postponed is a real stroke of luck. Will give Thiago, Vvd, Fab a few more days to get match fit.

4.) 23 Dec 2021 14:04:00
Robbo suspension now rules him out of Chelsea.

5.) 23 Dec 2021 14:08:13
and city having to play twice in 3 days with some of their squad with C.V. is unfortunate for them and I wish their players a good recoevry but we need them to start dropping points / get off this winning streak asap.

6.) 23 Dec 2021 18:03:17
Leeds are depleted would of been great to play them! We will play them now when they will have a loaf of players back and a trickier game!

7.) 23 Dec 2021 19:26:51
I think it is a conspiracy by the Premier League, Jay.

Being serious, we are a much better side than Leeds and are good enough to see off their best, fully fit team.

8.) 24 Dec 2021 10:44:02
Rumoured dates for the rescheduled Leeds game 19th Jan or 01st Feb, either would mean we would be missing Salah, Mane and Keita.

14 Jul 2020 09:14:00
Eds,

Are Liverpool interested in the young lad Dembelle at Celtic. i know he is just a kid but it seemed every man and his dog was interested him at one stage.
I read over the weekend that Liverpool and Chelsea are keen on taking him south.

He is a talented boy that for sure.

STRALFC

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool and right now he is in the right place to develop and get game time.}

1.) 14 Jul 2020 10:18:28
Thanks Ed02,

Anyone any updates on Lallana? or is it another injury?

Origi seems to have a niggle as well when he came off.

STRALFC

1.) 30 Jan 2020 23:52:00
Origi just had cramp. At least that's what he said.

Hopefully that's just the case.

23 Oct 2023 09:07:59
Would anyone take Alphonso Davies?
Robbo not getting any younger and Davies only 22/ 23 i think?

STRALFC

1.) 23 Oct 2023 10:07:58
In a heartbeat.
Not going to happen though.

2.) 23 Oct 2023 10:24:49
Terrific player who suits into an attacking full back system which unfortunately we ain't going to play.
For one last time. we need a world class LCB and not a LB.

3.) 23 Oct 2023 10:45:49
All day. Everyday and including twice on Sundays. Brilliant player.

4.) 23 Oct 2023 10:53:54
Harry said for the last time, so nobody is ever allowed to mention it again.

5.) 23 Oct 2023 11:13:26
Agree with Harry here, there would be no point in buying such a player with our current tactic. It would be a complete waste of his abilities and im fairly sure he wouldn't excel in the LCB position.

Go back to our previously successful 433 and yeah take him no problem.

6.) 23 Oct 2023 13:44:36
You change your tactic before buying a player? Or you plan for a change, buy the player, and make the change?

7.) 23 Oct 2023 16:48:30
Would Davies be expensive enough for the posters who are constantly seeking shiny new toys.

8.) 23 Oct 2023 18:03:21
I have to say that I think £40 million is a very optimistic price tag for Davies.

9.) 23 Oct 2023 18:29:57
Rather have Kevin Davies.

10.) 23 Oct 2023 19:06:38
Brilliant player not joining Liverpool. Nothing to see here, move along.

11.) 23 Oct 2023 20:04:12
Still trying to process Robbo defying convention by not getting any younger. Devastated.

28 Aug 2023 09:48:36
Am i right in saying that's a 3 game ban for VVD?

STRALFC

1.) 28 Aug 2023 10:01:57
Nope it’s a one game ban. 3 only for violent conduct I believe.

2.) 28 Aug 2023 10:04:13
According to Sky it’s a one game ban because it wasn’t a dangerous tackle.

{Ed002's Note - In which case it would have been a yellow.}

3.) 28 Aug 2023 10:16:44
ed2 - are you saying it should have been a yellow?

{Ed002's Note - No, I am saying if it was not dangerous it would only be a yellow.}

4.) 28 Aug 2023 10:17:57
I thought that rule only applied if it's in the penalty box?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

5.) 28 Aug 2023 10:18:53
I agree it should have been a yellow, I guess it was the apparent denying of a goal scoring opportunity.

6.) 28 Aug 2023 10:27:36
Confirmed as a ne game ban, unless we appeal of course.

7.) 28 Aug 2023 10:48:58
I am wondering if he's going to get any punishment for his semi outburst to the officials.
Seen plenty worse said and done but this season the new rules have came into force. Mighten they try and set an example with VVD?

8.) 28 Aug 2023 10:52:05
No it’s a red because it’s denial of a goal scoring opportunity. He’d have got a red card for a shirt pull in that position.

9.) 28 Aug 2023 10:54:48
Never a red in my eyes.

10.) 28 Aug 2023 11:10:17
Media in overdrive now trying to insinuate that he will get more because of what he said to the officials after his sending off.

Hopefully a mountain out of a mole hill.

11.) 28 Aug 2023 11:13:10
It’s a red card because it’s a goal scoring opportunity and Van Dijk was the last man.

One game ban. So basically with Konate’s inevitable injury we are 3 games into the season and Gomez n Matip are already in the line up ?.

12.) 28 Aug 2023 11:19:35
It was a red because he was last man, not because it was dangerous. It’s a one match ban.

13.) 28 Aug 2023 12:25:39
Agreed Mark
We would be screaming for a red card if one of our players got brought down in a similar position.

14.) 28 Aug 2023 14:10:12
It was a red for me. Sky already said VVD would get one game cos it was not violent conduct, which triggers a 3 game ban, not the red card itself.

15.) 28 Aug 2023 12:35:20
I’m not sure you’ve seen the tackle, Ed002. Van Dijk was sent off because it was a goalscoring opportunity, not because it was dangerous. As far as danger goes, the tackle was comparatively innocuous.

{Ed002's Note - So he was the last man?}

STRALFC

15 Jul 2022 08:25:19
Just my thoughts but im thinking the prem is going to be the tightest its been in a long time.

Top 6 are all recruiting well but not only that the quality of managers/ coaches which they have at the minute it makes me feel this season is going to be the tightest we will have in a long time.

STRALFC

1.) 15 Jul 2022 09:32:57
OP, that could be true BUT you have to consider how condensed the season will be and this is NOT the time to have to bed in 5/ 6 players like Spurs need to do. Or Arsenal who need 4/ 5 to bed in should they get their signings in. Most of all, these teams are not used to playing every 3 days cos Spurs and Arsenal ain't done that for the past 3/ 4 years. Chelsea may be less but I don't trust Tuchel to get a title chase off the ground neither do I rate their signings. I say all that to ay this: It'll be City and LFC again should both start the season flying out the traps. We shall see.

2.) 15 Jul 2022 09:38:28
Time will tell. Everyone said Chelsea recruited well last season and they didn't last. I think Man City and LFC have set standards so high, the only way the other teams catch up is if us two drop off.

3.) 15 Jul 2022 09:54:43
I still think that Pep and Klopp stand out as the two managers with the most attacking mindset though.
Spurs have spent a lot of money to satisfy Conte but no doubts he’ll still play his boring usual game.
There was talk of Chelsea going to a 4-4-2, that would be interesting with Koulibaly and Silva as the central defenders, lol.
In a defensive 3, however, Koulibaly looks like a ready made replacement for Rudiger, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see them continue with that system.
Man Utd are the new Ajax want to be’s, though I’m unsure where Maguire fits into that?

4.) 15 Jul 2022 09:55:51
Either City or us will run away with it or will be us, City, Spurs and Chelsea in the mix. Conte is a top manager and Spurs have signed some good players. We need to have better results against these 3 teams to win it.

5.) 15 Jul 2022 10:04:10
Spurs have bought a lot of players (because that’s Conte’s idea of being a good manager) but they haven’t bought anybody that makes me think they will improve. Conte tries not to lose rather than win and he gets rattled if he loses a couple.

It’ll be us and City again.

6.) 15 Jul 2022 10:43:06
I hope it is a close League. How good will it be for football to see a close League. Millions of LFC fans love the fact we are challenging year in year out recently and I’m sure the 60 City fans worldwide are happy they’ve been winning League titles but there’s 18 other lots of club fans in this league who love their clubs like we do ours.

If more teams are successful then hopefully it encourages teams to have a go and not park buses because even though football is a business to the majority involved in football but to us fans it’s still entertainment and a sport.

I cannot wait for this season and wish all teams the best (except Utd and Everton ?) and May the best team win.

7.) 15 Jul 2022 11:36:34
Bedding in numerous new players aside, Conte's strategy etc., I don't see all of those teams able to make up 20 to 25 points each in order for them to (if us and Man City operate at the same level) overhaul or even get close.

8.) 15 Jul 2022 12:15:20
I feel like we've had this before, where we think someone in the top 5/ 6 is going to really push on. Yet in the last 5 years, City have won 4 league titles. And not only are Liverpool the only other team who have won a league in that time, I think we're the only team to get within 10 points of them when they have won.

I don't see why it'll be different this season. Sterling and Koulibaly imo are not game changers for Chelsea. Arsenal's manager isn't good enough and Man U still have to prove they're not a clownshow anymore.

Spurs idk. They've been active in the market and Conte knows how to win. But some of their signings don't convince me.

Tl;Dr I think it'll be us and City as top 2 by a margin again. Man U if EtH is all their fans want him to be might do top 4. Otherwise Chelsea and Spurs 3 and 4 comfortably.

9.) 15 Jul 2022 14:18:38
SR on the Spurs and Chelsea signings, the only signing I would take among their signings combined is Bissouma. Apart from him, I wouldn't take ANY of their signings. Spurs's other signings? Yeah, washed the lot of them. Chelsea with Sterling? Not threatened whatsoever and wouldn't want him at LFC cos he isn't better than Diaz and definitely nowhere near the universe Salah lives in. He is a poor finisher, for me.

Khoulibaly? The version of Khoulibaly of 3 years ago? Yes, I would take him. This version? Nope, the guy is washed IMO and having never played in a back 4 for club and country, good luck with that, Chelsea fans.

10.) 15 Jul 2022 15:30:22
Only my opinion but I def think Chelsea’s and Spurs signings player for player compared to what they had actually improves them but whether they fit into their systems and make them a stronger team then only time will tell.

But we haven’t stood still either. Our signings are just as likely to flop or succeed as other teams but what we have in Klopp is a manager who will manage these players expertly.

Even If 18 teams improve considerably from last year then they would likely still be a way off us and City. The only team that we should hope don’t improve is City. Because if they do then we will also need to improve as well. And with the levels both teams played at last season there isn’t a lot of improving that both could do in my books due to the strength of the league.

11.) 15 Jul 2022 16:20:59
Re reading my comment I meant that the players they’ve signed player for player are better than what they had and only time will tell if they actually improve them as a team on the pitch.

Example being Ronaldo was a far better forward than what Utd had. But he didn’t improve them as a team on the pitch.

12.) 16 Jul 2022 18:36:02
I hope its not close JK23, I hope we run away with it and win by about 20 points lol.

09 Jun 2022 11:34:48
Eds,

What's your thought on Van Den Berg for us? I know he was on loan but to be honest i haven't seen much of him to form an opinion.

I have head good reports but do you think he is 1st team level?

STRALFC

{Ed001's Note - I don't know I never saw him while he was on loan, sorry.}

1.) 09 Jun 2022 12:43:51
I think VVD, Matip, Konate is the preferred 3 who will rotate and I'm sure we'll try and keep Gomez as 4th if we can.
It'll be very tricky for any CB to break into the team even if they're very good.

2.) 09 Jun 2022 13:04:54
He'll get his chance pre-season. Will more than likely go out on loan though hopefully to a Premier League club. If such a loan went well i could easily see him come back and replace Matip in the squad next summer. Preston fans loved the kid when he was there.

3.) 09 Jun 2022 15:30:15
JH, Van Den Berg is prolly getting sold, IMO.

Salah will move, FSG will not turn down 150mil + question is who will they bring in to replace if anyone before 11pm tonight.

Wouldn't be surprised if not a salah replacement but a centre half and another midfielder brought in. If Salah moves on.
