Ed001 - where do you see Gakpo's role in first team going forward? Front 3 seems pretty set (salah, nunez, diaz) - would be keen to hear where you think Gakpo will fit in.

Thanks.

Jamwoody1

{Ed001's Note - injuries, loss of form and rotation will see him get plenty of time up front and in midfield.}

1.) 19 Nov 2023 09:21:21
Have seen reports that Klopp sees Cody Gakpo as the ideal Bobby Firmino replacement.

2.) 19 Nov 2023 10:29:04
That supposed set front three have only actually started 3 of the 18 games this season.

It looks like Salah is the set starter in the forwards and Klopp likes to utilise and rotate the other 4 depending on opposition and schedule.

3.) 19 Nov 2023 11:49:31
I’d start gakpo against city as his ball retention is top drawer I just can’t think at who’s expense as I’d start salah and Nunez also but I think we are that blessed that seeing any of the front 5 I’m happy with.

4.) 19 Nov 2023 12:07:17
I think against city it will b jota, gakpo, salah as front 3 due to southamericans playing Tuesday nite/ Wed morning and game kicking off at 12.30 sat.

5.) 19 Nov 2023 13:08:30
Be happy with that digger
Bring Diaz and Nunez on around 55/ 60 mark depending on how the game is and go for it.

6.) 19 Nov 2023 13:53:11
Yep that's the beauty of having 5 top class forwards, can take on 2 when game (hopefully) starts to open up a bit. Think if we going to have rattle at title this season we will have to beat them this weekend. Try and get ahead of them, they almost impossible to catch if they get ahead into 2nd half of season.

7.) 19 Nov 2023 14:15:17
Is Endo playing in Asia as well would that rule him out of starting in the same sense as the South Americans.

Next two games are quite big with 2 opposition at totally separate scales.

I’d say City is a must not lose fixture whilst LASK is a must win.

8.) 19 Nov 2023 21:39:12
Saw Gakpo play yesterday vs Ireland and he is absolutely amazing as a footballer esp. when operating from deep behind the striker Weighorst. He has so much ability on the ball and works so hard off the ball that he can play any attacking position almost seemlessly, he is that technically sound. As to where would be his best position? I have no idea. We will have to see what the coaches decide.

Ed001,

Couple of questions which it would be great to get your view on:
- what do you think has changed for Nunez this season and why do you think Klopp isn't quite giving him a run of games yet?
- do you think we would replace Thiago if he leaves in the summer?

Thanks v much.

Jamwoody1

{Ed001's Note - 1. He has settled on to the club and UK and begun to learn English to a decent level. Added to that he is working with two of the greatest coaches of all time in Klopp and Bielsa.
I have no idea why Klopp is holding him back, but so long as he keeps impacting games no one can complain.

2. No, we already did replace him.}

1.) 29 Oct 2023 03:36:12
Because Nunez works his first shift for Royal Mail, as a postman. Hehe!

2.) 29 Oct 2023 07:48:17
I'm presuming that's a joke that only works at half 3 in the morning?

3.) 29 Oct 2023 09:36:48
Seems like someone else was getting ready for their first shift when they posted! ?.

4.) 29 Oct 2023 10:30:26
That joke didn't work at half three in the morning or half ten in the morning.

5.) 29 Oct 2023 10:59:51
That joke did not land well, Im afraid. In fact, it crashed and burned into a ashes, lo.

As for Darwin, he is improving cos he has settled well as Ed01 said and also, he has quit social media and seems to focused on football alone and on his career.

With the likes of Bielsa and Klopp coaching him and with him taking it in and applying it with the outstanding work ethic and desire he has to be great, Darwin will only get better.

6.) 29 Oct 2023 11:45:53
If you see the pic of him kicking Curtis up the bum during the game the other night both smiling its brilliant. Got a Scouse sense of humour where he can laugh at himself.

7.) 29 Oct 2023 12:01:01
Someone looks like they were taking full advantage of the extra hour!

10 Oct 2023 22:18:03
Ed001 - would be keen to hear your initial thoughts as to how you think Gravenberch has started and is playing etc?

Thanks v much.

Jamwoody1

{Ed001's Note - far too soon to judge, he has not even started a game in the League yet. Give it time as a sub appearance is never a good indicator of a player's actual ability or form.}

1.) 11 Oct 2023 17:43:19
Agree that sub appearances are never a good indicator of ability. If I had to make a snap assessment, I'd say he is better on the ball than I expected, but his intelligence off the ball needs a lot of improvement. There's definitely more to work with than I initially thought, however. I can at least see why Klopp took a shine to him.

2.) 11 Oct 2023 19:02:52
He’s only 21, brand new league/ country.
Doing okay so far if you ask me ??.

3.) 12 Oct 2023 08:48:44
I think he looks really promising. First touch is excellent, really shapes the ball where he wants it and protects it well. He's lively, always wanting to be involved and has good pace.

Hi Ed's

Thanks for all the updates over a crazy few days!

Do you think we would have been successful with Lavia if we offered what we apparently offered today, last week?

Looking forward to where we end up over the next few weeks. I don't buy into the hype around there not being a plan in place - so I'm hoping for a Fabinho/ jota/ szob signing where it went under the radar and happened quickly.

Jamwoody1

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

1.) 14 Aug 2023 22:26:02
Got a feeling that some loan deals will be coming our way, similar to melo and caulker.

2.) 15 Aug 2023 08:00:02
Don’t rule that out, Ashy. But pls, no Caulker nor Arthur. I can’t take it this season.

3.) 14 Aug 2023 21:52:50
Don’t blame lavia if he goes to Chelsea to be honest, I don’t think we’ve made him feel like we really wanted him. I’m curious though Ed if you think the length of contract Chelsea are offering players is a very attractive proposition to them, take MC- an 8year deal is some security for a player isn’t it, guaranteed money for nearly a decade, and let’s be honest if a player wants out they seem to be able to get themselves a move.

{Ed002's Note - The length of contract gives a means of protecting their value whilst not impacting the opportunity to move on.}

28 Jan 2023 22:57:47
Ed001, you've mentioned Rabiot a few times. Do you know if we are interested / shown any interest in him or is he someone you just think would be a good signing?

Thanks v much.

Jamwoody1

{Ed001's Note - just someone I think would be a useful addition with him supporting the club.}

1.) 28 Jan 2023 23:45:37
As in my opinion I think Skriniar would be a good free to replace Matip. Also a supposed Liverpool fan and contract up this summer.

2.) 28 Jan 2023 23:49:50
He’s moving to PSG by all accounts.

3.) 29 Jan 2023 00:08:19
Mike Myres is a Liverpool fan.
Straight swap baldies, Fabinho for Dr Evil defensive midfield. Throw me a frickin bone here. Muuhaha.

4.) 29 Jan 2023 04:12:40
I love it when people say also a liverpool fan. not a dig at the poster in anyway but makes me chuckle. Can just imagine the scouts scouring the world for players and ticking the 'liverpool fan' requirement! ??.

5.) 29 Jan 2023 04:55:45
It’s even better with Mbappe (his mum’s a big fan, so they say) and Bellingham’s entire family. Seems you can’t move in the Bellingham’s house without tripping over an item of Liverpool memorabilia. I’m hopeful of both in the summer, if I’m being honest.

{Ed025's Note - both? Santa only comes at Christmas mate..

6.) 29 Jan 2023 08:59:45
Good to see at last we have understood and already looking at freebies here ??.

{Ed025's Note - my lad is available, and hes a liverpool supporter so automatically qualifies, hes 24 stone and crap at footy but that doesn,t seem to matter.. :)

7.) 29 Jan 2023 09:15:18
His name isn't Neville is it Ed025?

{Ed025's Note - I wouldn’t do that to a young child stuie.. ?

Hi Ed’s,

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but why would Klopp want him sold.

Thanks in advance.

Jamwoody1

{Ed002's Note - Well it will be because Kloppdoes not see a future for him at the club.}

Ed001 - is that what happened with Caicedo? I. e Klopp really liked him so club were going to back him with the funds?

Jamwoody1

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

I’m assuming no chance of signing either of the two Ed’s?

Thanks v much.

Jamwoody1

{Ed002's Note - Sure, Liverpool could drop targets and move to these - flip-flopping shows many weaknesses.}
