Ok its nearly season over and i'm sure most agree it has been a massively disappointing campaign.

Rather that giving excuses of why everything went wrong suarez left, sturridge injured etc, is there a reason to be confident going forward into next season?

At this point i'm not optimistic, the manager is full of bullsh@t, i don't see a marquee joining us and there is no sign injuty prone sturridge will be any fitter next season than this.

So for the fans that want to give brenden another year, please give me somthing to cling onto, because i don't see a reason other than getting a new manager even with little money to spend would make me positive for nest season

I start every season optimistic. You have to other wise what's the point?

If you want to feel positive about Rodgers it is very simple. Players can have runs of bad form.
Managers can too but unfortunately they can't be dropped without sacking them.
This season Rodgers has been out of form.
Look at last season, look at the way the team played with swagger, with verve with confidence. Rodgers can rediscover this given a full summer of pre-season to work with the squad. Last summer was disrupted with the World Cup. The summer before wasn't. Rodgers first summer was interrupted by the Euros plus he had just signed late in the summer.

Next season we will be back.

BR knows the deal and knows this is a results business where time is of the premium and where the only thing that buys you time is winning games and learning fast. All of which he has no idea how to do. Clearly, he has learnt nothing from getting the sack at Reading and Watford. Also, comparing BR to a player as being out of form is the poorest excuse for a reason to keep him I've ever read on these boards. Players win games, coaches lose them. That is the name of the game for a manager and if he cannot or has not learned that, he will keep getting fired. You're right that we will be back but hopefully, without Rodgers.

For me Henderson is a decent midfielder, and has improved over the time he has been at the club, but next years captain?

Have we ever been in situation before when a decent player was awarded the club captains armband for the club?

Ive gone back years and only seen quality players hanson, souness, hypia, gerrard, and the like.

I think Henderson is a good bit better than "decent", but even we accept your view on his ability, can you suggest a better option?

In terms of performances, there's really only himself and Lucas who have been consistently good all season. Migs and Coutinho have been good since January, but neither have been consistently good. And even if they had been consistent all season, I think they're both better off concentrating on their own game and not having to lead the team on the pitch.

Sahko captained PSG a few times, and he'd certainly one who has the potential to be a very good player and strong personality in the dressing room in the future. But he needs to get his own game in order (particularly his 50p-head headers) at this stage in his career.

I personally don't want Skrtel to be here next season to become captain.

Lallana's a maybe, I think he's a quality player, but because he's only been here a season and injuries he's not really established himself.

So I don't see an option other than Hendo or Lucas. And Lucas is probably going.

Nothing to do with you're question, but Henderson needs the shackles removing next season. He's at his best when he plays box to box. Last season the 442 diamond suited him perfectly, giving him freedom to get up and down that right hand side, having an influence on both the attacking and the defensive side of things. This season he has been decent, but he has a lot more to offer when given more freedom.

Red Rum

henderson is a lot better than decent , there will never be another stevie g , i think hendo is doing a great job at being captain and at such a young age , as red rum said he needs more freedom last season he had the freedom and he shone in that role and because of that a lot of fans changed their minds about him , i think if he never got sent off and the form he was in last season we would have had a better chance of winning the prem , he was a big miss and that shows how good he really is ,give the young man a chance in his proper position before you judge his ability

4.) 02 May 2015 19:18:31
I think the wording of decent here has marred the subject and point i wanted to make. Henderson hasn't had a fantastic season and nor has it been one for the team, however i totally agree with red rum, to hendersons credit he hasn't been allowed to play his own game either. Something reds great listing of the current players shows that whoever is the next club captain does not stand out as a obvious choice. In the past leaders on the pitch and stand out players got the band, i don't see it with henderson or any other player currently.

5.) 02 May 2015 19:32:53
I was also torn on Henderson earlier in the season. He's not as good as Coutinho but he's one of our best players and deserves to be judged next season with Stevie gone

6.) 03 May 2015 05:15:56
Hendo hasn't had the best of seasons due principally to the ineptitude and incompetence of a manager who continues playing him in diff positions and shackles him in order to suit his dreadful system. If he has not had a great season, look no further than The Nose and his tactical ineptitude

We have had plenty of fun watching the demise of man utd in the last 2 years since fergie left, however here we are today 11 points behind them.

Van Gaal has been there less than 12 months, joined even though they were not in the champions league. Signed players all be it expensively who left from teams playing in the champions league.

Yes i think he has been very lucky, de gea saving them in many games, and yes fellaini now the main man. Di maria and shaw don't play much, striker van persise been injured most of the season. Season b4, they lost vidic, giggs, scholes, ferdinand, evra, yes all older but they left as champions.

The comparison in our situation and there's as our rivals should help to show Brenden Rogers has used every excuse in the book, spending 216 million in 3 years the same amount man utd has spent in 2 seasons. They lost 6 players and hard as it is to say the most successful manager of all time in Ferguson.

So what is our excuse for us falling behind Man utd again, at time when rogers is 3 years into his contact, spent 216 million and looks like finishing 6th this season.

Excuse:What players have we lost? suarez and its been the excuse all season, or injury prone sturridge.

Excuse: Blame, did he sign him or didn't he sign him balotelli, fine, but who was the alternative that was coming if not him, was there anyone else. It could of been 15million lambert and borini otherwise, where would we be if that had happened.

Excuse: The training ground has been spoke about as the opposition has been peaking over the fence. To see how we defend corners and how we can't get the corners past the first defender.

Excuse: can't get the best players if not in the champions league, we signed suarez

Excuse; The transfer committee bought them

The excuses have gone on and on and on, the only way to end it is to end rogers tenure. As fans we keep the faith and support our club, but this guys had his chance and he has blown it.

Fans worried about who will take his place? who was brenden rogers when he took over?.the man that brought tika taka football, what happened to that?, what happened to players being bought to fit the system?

The owners are not daft they have thrown a lot of money at the club and the ground is finally having development work to increase the capacity. They have heard it and seen it all, end of the season they will make the change.

All the talk is de boer, and klopp, but let's open out eyes there's 100s of clubs out there and plenty of managers with much bigger pedigree than rogers. let's find one and get them to manage in our eyes the biggest club in the world.

Just regurgitating the same old story. Post so answers to these questions being raised. Show some thought about what can be done, what is expected to be done etc. it's all hearsay but a lot more interesting then reading the same posts that were here months ago

2.) 12 Apr 2015 22:21:26
We sold Suarez who scored 30+ goals last season and signed Balotelli. Blame whoever you want but this season has been hampered by a lack of goals.

3.) 12 Apr 2015 22:22:10
You can talk the talk, let's get Ayre out!

4.) 13 Apr 2015 05:44:11
our problem is if we win 10 games in a row we start to believe we are the best team in the universe and put a blind eye to all the problems we have. if united are lucky because de-gea has kept them in games, we were million times luckier because we don't even have a keeper who can save us games . the defense has to be sorted out and that is pending for three years. and that is just disgusting considering we are not short in numbers in defense , we also have a few good quality defenders in our squad. have literally splurged around 60 million in reinstating our defense and yet in best case scenario we have a mickey mouse defense. our defense is easier to open than a pint of beer!

5.) 13 Apr 2015 14:07:36
How do you open a pint of beer?

6.) 13 Apr 2015 22:22:33
And we are still laughing at your demise and it is still going on

Rush left for juventus, beardsley, barnes, aldridge and houghton all signed after. Rush did come back 2 or 3 years later.
