Its all coming out now about Rodgers, and how some of the players didn't rate him as a manager at all and the effect he had on them in there decision to leave the club.

Gerrard - Fuming after being left on the bench for the United game, left because of Rodgers.

Sterling - Left because of Rodgers (according to his agent)

Markovic - left because of Rodgers not playing him in his correct position.

Agger - Rodgers again.

Suso - Rodgers.

I think we could of possibly kept hold of Suarez for a little bit longer if we had Klopp or another top manager.

Every manager makes enemies because they didn't give that player the playing time they wanted. Bar Sterling and markovic, it was time for the rest of those players to leave for various reasons. I wouldn't read too much into the sterling comments. It would've been a different excuse even if Klopp were here. Let's face it, city offered literally twice the wages that we did.

Agger shouldn't have gone.

Klopp would have certainly sold Sterling for that amount of money. He would have properly reinvested it in the squad, maybe.

I can't believe some so called fans would take the word of Aidy Ward and use it to belittle an ex Liverpool manager. Rodgers didn't do a perfect job and he got fired for that.

Also it seems on this website that every player who didn't make into the first team is the result of poor management by Rodgers. Players that were bought but didn't work out - Rodgers fault. Players left - Rodgers fault. This is ridiculous. Sometimes a player just isn't good enough, has an attitude problem, is too old, didn't for-fill his potential, doesn't fit into the English game and any number of reasons.

Sure Rodgers made mistakes but he is not responsible for everything that didn't go right - sometimes the players need to take responsibility.

Finally what happened to meaning YNWA when you say it. I wish Rodgers luck and hope he finds success in the game.

Suarez was a bit different I think, when Barcelona and Real come calling for a south american/spanish player its extremely hard to keep them.

Potclay if you didn't notice that is why i put according to his agent i know full well what his agent is capable of, and yes we all know you'll never walk alone means, did i once slag off Rodgers NO! I was just posting on the facts.

How are these facts ? They are your opinions. No one except those people know the reasons why and after that we can all write anything.

Sterling left cause he was a prick. Gerrard and Agger left because they were past it. Suso just wasnt good enough and didn't give enough effort. Markovic actually hasn't left but was sent out to get game time.

And what is the point of saying "its all coming out now about Rodgers". You are gnats chuff away from slagging him off, if not doing exactly that.

Hi Allyb,

I think you're a bit misguided in your analysis there. Gerrard was angry but that doesn't mean the decision to bench him was wrong, he left because his performances were no longer of a high enough level for Liverpool. Sterling and Rodgers fell out but the decision to move was always more about finances (as much as I'd like to I can't blame the kid for accepting significantly higher wages elsewhere) . Markovic was down the pecking list below 4 or 5 other players, you may disagree with this ranking but that's how Rodger's and the club saw it, in the circumstance the right move was to loan him, better for his development, better for the club finances and he could still come back to be a Liverpool player in the future. Agger didn't like Rodgers it's true but his body (by his own admission) was falling apart and he struggled with the physicality of the premier league, he could no longer be relied upon. Suso, he's simply a player who hasn't lived up to the hype. There's still a chance I'll be proved wrong but so far the evidence is on my side. Suarez was always going to leave, he had his heart set on Barcelona or Real, he liked playing for us but we were always a stepping stone for him.

Rodgers made some difficult decisions in these cases but in each case it's difficult to argue he did the wrong thing or was at fault.

{Ed001's Note - actually it is not that difficult to argue that Markovic should never have bought, which was Rodgers' decision, when he was always going to be so far down the pecking order. Gerrard was playing poorly, but he should have been let go properly, not messed about being benched then played out of position. Agger, well it might have been the best decision for all parties, if he had been replaced properly, rather than just dumped out of the team. Sterling's issue was forced by Rodgers' utterly inept handling of the kid, sending him on holiday midseason should have been an immediate sacking offence. The constant comments in the media etc, none of them should have happened. Though I do agree he probably would have left in the end anyway. Suarez was not Rodgers' fault, that was all on Hannibal the Cannibal himself, being a prick. Suso, well he was blocked from developing by a lack of games, saying he never lived up to the hype is just bull. He never had a chance to live up to any hype as the manager was unable to figure out how to use him, instead choosing to buy 45 players.}

BR has his faults but to say RS left due to him is nonsense and not true. BR had a hand in it but to take the worrd of a dubious agent who is only trying to stick the boot into BR because he`s down in a bid to save his face, is ludicrous.

Suarez wanted to play chanpions league regularly, he gave his best when he was at liverpool. Barcelona is and was his dream.

Come on y are we discussing about players we already had here. when rodgers came.

What about players he brought starting with borini, aspas. sahin. oh my god list just grows i'm stopping here.

May I point out that on 4th October Brendan Rodgers was awarded the title 'EX' to use in his job description i.e. Ex-Liverpool Manager. We all have to learn to concentrate on the present and the future. Of the players mentioned only Markovic will be coming back (even if it is only to leave again, hopefully not! ). As for Gerrard fuming about being left on the bench it didn't take long for him to get back there that day!

Sterling may or may not have ended up leaving anyway, but that doesn't make what Ward has said any less true. Rodgers certainly wasn't helpful in that situation with his constant 'he's been offered a great contract' nonsense to the press.

21 Oct 2015 16:39:30
Can we stop with this already? They've moved on, so should we.

Rodgers is gone, Klopp is in and that is all that matter, not whether X would stay or Y would have signed a new deal etc. It's done, it can not be changed so may as well get on with it.

Hi Ed1, love debating with you. I'd agree we shouldn't have even bought Markovic but the post was about him going out on loan so I thought I'd stick to that. I'd say Gerrard's treatment was more Rodgers trying desperately to accommodate a faded giant, a better manager may have handled it better but I won't blame Rodgers for what happened there, he would have been under pressure from every corner (including the guys who pay his wage) to get him in the team and somehow make it work. I'd also agree that I wish Agger's departure was handled better, he was always a favourite of mine and it saddens me that he left with regrets. The Sterling thing was a mess from start to finish and Rodgers could/should have done better but I think utterly inept is over the top, at the time many commentators said that Sterling's form improved after his holiday and hailed it as a good move. Once it was clear that City would pay almost twice as much as Liverpool Sterling was never going to sign a Liverpool contract no matter how the situation was handled. As for Suso we shall have to disagree, the nature of 'what if' questions is that neither of us can be proven correct (actually, you can if he comes good at Milan but you get my point) . I just believe that if he was good enough he would make either at Liverpool, Milan or somewhere else, I know you disagree but it's how I see it.

Markovic was the committees choice, hence his problems with Rodgers.

16.) 21 Oct 2015
21 Oct 2015 17:07:54
The thing that annoys me most about the Suso situation, is that in Rodgers' first season, he had a throat three choice of Suarez, sterling, downing and Suso. He played a few games that season and did well for a debut season. Then the season we came second, we loan in a lazy victor Moses when he's out on loan? Moses barely played and was pretty average when he did, and aspas never cut it. We needed some option attacking wise, and we had a young player who seemed to raise his game playing first team football, could have been the future for us, but instead loaned in a player.

Fency, your comment is exactly why and for many good reasons, Ed01 (and many of us here) call BR`s handling of players inept and baffling.

True i always rated Suso highly. I don't know what he was like in training in relation to attitude but i always thought he should have been given a chance similar time to sterling really.

To be fair to Rodgers, I believe all the managers we have had during the 'Suso period' never regarded him as worthy to be on the team sheet. The lad had talent, no doubt, my only thinking is that he had a poor attitude or didn't give enough in training. Just a guess.
