Hi Ed's,

Just a quick question with the goalkeeping situation, do you think we are keeping ward for pre-season to look at him before making a decision or are we keeping him as 3rd choice the whole season?

If that is that case i am mystified as to why Klopp would ever do that!

{Ed002's Note - Right now Ward has been told he will be third choice for the season which I think is a great pity after he did very well indeed last season - and the first half of the season before in Scotland. I am sure he would love the opportunity to play for Liverpool but third choice goalkeepers are generally those at the tail end of their career and who help out with the kids and the like - such as Manninger last season. I am sure ward will be thinking very hard about his situation.}

Completely agree, if this happens it will be the second time he has come back from playing regularly and well to just sitting in the stands!

From his perspective if i wasn't allowed out on loan, i would push for a permanent transfer.

{Ed002's Note - Huddersfield wanted to hang on to him but were told no.}

I can not, for the life of me, understand this decision.

Surely this will have an effect on Danny Ward's development?

He has spent the last year and a half playing regularly, developing his skills and experience, and has progressed from Leagues that were meant to be a gradual increase, in order to prepare him for life in the Premier League. I thought that was the plan.

Now, Huddersfield are in the Premier League. This should be the big test, to see if he is ready for the rigours of the league, but, instead of doing what is so obvious. We are bringing him back to sit in the stands and possibly play a few matches in the U23's!? How does that make any kind of sense!?

Loris Karius could hardly get a game last season, a player Klopp has made a number of promises to, I believe. I can not recall Alex Manniger, the third choice keeper, ever playing a single game for us. In fact, I don't believe he ever did.

So, how does it make any sense to put Danny Ward in this position!? To undo all his hard work, while out on loan. By the time Klopp decides Ward could do with another loan, it is likely that Huddersfield would have already brought in a new Goal Keeper. Meaning another closed avenue for development.

I cannot understand why we don't just use Kamil Grabara, or one of our other young Goalkeepers, to fill in as third choice but also play regularly for the U23's. It would be a great experience for them, to train and, on the rather occasion, play in matches with the first team. If you cannot bring someone older, who has experience and pedigree on his side, then why not turn to the youth?

I really hope we don't end up alienating Ward and losing him in the next Transfer Window because I believe the boy has the potential to be a very good option for us. However, with Mignolet first choice and impressing, Loris Karius being promised all kinds of thing, where does that really leave Ward!?

In all honesty, in order to further his career, I think Ward needs to leave on a permanent transfer. It pains me to say this because I have nothing but respect for the man's abilities and mindset, but perhaps it would be best for all parties if Ward was to be sold.

I don't know how other people feel, but, I believe this might be the best course of action for the young lad.

Migs starts season drops a clanger puts Karius in Migs gets arse on goes in summer Ward then goes to no2.

What exactly was Karius promised.

Ward has the same opportunity in training to claim a place. Mignolet was clearly 2nd choice, but look what happened. Klopp and his team are not fools. If Ward impresses he will get a game.

{Ed002's Note - Karious was named the number one public after Klopp explained to Mignolet he would not be starting.}

And that was the right decision Ed, IMO as Migs at the time had been wretched though out his time here before Karius arrived. Things may not have worked out and the reasons why can be debated BUT Klopp did the right thing as Migs was killing us big time. As for Ward, it boggles the mind why we don't just let him go as clearly, being third choice is just stupid at this time as he is well-thought of outside of LFC and is a Welsh international.

What klopp did clearly worked though! Migs was outstanding after being given that wake up call!

Nothing more than a gut feel tells me one of Migs or Karius will leave before the end of the window.

Like I said, just a guy feel.

Think Ward should be given chance in PL with Hudder. instead of being 2nd or 3rd option here.

The exp is invaluable.

Not sure what Klopp is smoking on Goal keeping front.

Cheers.

I think players like Ward, Ojo, Chirivella, Kent will be allowed to show during the preseason whether they are ready to be part of the first team squad and if they are not, they will be loaned or sold.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting to assess them over the preseason before making a decision.

Ward may prove himself either in training or games. There's rumoured interest in Karius, so even if nothing happen this window perhaps Ward could force his way up the order. Perhaps Klopp sees something in Ward, and knows something we don't about either Migs' or Karius' future. Window's not really even open as yet, so they may be more to this than we've seen.

Ward is now fringe international as well if he wants to develop he needs to move on. No point having ability sitting in the stands. If LFC don't want to sell then there needs to be an aim to use him and not as a break glass.
