Eds

Plenty of reports saying we are trying to snap up 16 yr old Victor Mollejo who made his debut for A. Madrid over the weekend. MOTD fever?

Voronins Left Foot

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

1.) 14 Aug 2017 15:10:48
I doubt Athletico would have given something their debut this weekend if they did not fully expect them to remain their player.

Ed002, huge apology if this has been answered previously but there is so much written on here about Coutinho, Barcelona, LFC, etc, it makes a search almost impossible.
Have Barcelona contacted Liverpool and asked for permission to talk to Coutinho about a move to Spain?
Thanks in advance.

Voronins Left Foot

{Ed002's Note - They have been in discussions with Liverpool but I am not aware they have permission to talk with the player.}

1.) 27 Jul 2017 11:32:00
Didn't the bid get turned down? So id guess until liverpool accept a bid they won't be able to speak to him directly?

{Ed002's Note - Unless they give permission.}

2.) 27 Jul 2017 11:32:15
Thanks Ed002. Does that mean that paper talk of Barcelona agreeing a deal with the player are wide of the mark? Or is there some truth in that they have agreed with his agent?

Not probing about tapping up here, just asking whether there is progress with the player/ his reps to gauge how far advanced things are?

I know you're not a betting man, but would I be correct in saying a transfer out of the club for Coutinho is more of a possibility now than it was a week or more ago?

{Ed002's Note - I suspect his agent has oversetepped the mark. I expect Liverpool to resist any sale.}

3.) 27 Jul 2017 11:44:29
Thanks Ed002. Based on reading the paper reports that are flying around, I'm really pleased that your assessment coincides with mine, as mine is based mainly on hope!

I think you mentioned a couple of days ago that the likely outcome of this issue is that we get one more year of Couts a la Suarez in 13/ 14.

Lets hope that extra year gives us as much excitement as 13/ 14, but with perhaps a slightly better outcome!

Revised expectations for this window? I think we'll keep Couts, get VVD, keep Can and not get Keita. On balance, I would be very happy with that.

Hi Ed2, thanks for all your updates. This site is always the place I visit to find out the latest transfer news. Liverpool have been meeting with Barcelona to discuss Coutinho on more than one occasion. In my opinion, if Liverpools stance is he's not for sale, why do they even bother having the meetings? By meeting them, I think we're encouraging them to put a bid in and indicating to the player the club will consider selling him. Also this is distracting the club from working on incoming deals. Is my point of view naive?

{Ed002's Note - It is business as usual. Clubs meet with other to discuss players joining and leaving.}

Hi Eds, we've been linked with the RB Santiago Arias. Any truth in it?

Voronins Left Foot

{Ed025's Note - i have seen links to him VLF but as of now they are just rumours mate..

Burnley winnin lol.

12 Aug 2017 13:27:27
Ok guys, let's not get too carried away with the criticism.
Yes, we have been playing like a bunch of 5 yr olds chasing a balloon in a gale and our defence has been an utter dogs breakfast and everyone bar Mane are playing like they were clubbing until 4am last night and it has never been more plainly obvious that we need a creative force in midfield and a half-decent centreback, but there's still another 45 minutes to go (god help us) .
Cmon the reds!

Been reading there is a good chance of the ACON being moved to summertime. Does Ed002 have any info to back this up? tyia.

Voronins Left Foot

{Ed002's Note - That proposal is on the table.}

Personally i would prefer Ineacho to Lukaku, especially at the third of the price. But even if i place aside my red-tinted spectacles, i would take a 100% fit Danny Sturridge over either of them any day.

Voronins Left Foot

1.) 07 Jul 2017 11:26:51
You're joking right? Ihaenacho (spelling) isn't half the player lukaku is, to suggest so is nothing short of moronic.

2.) 07 Jul 2017 11:29:32
Totally agree with you on Studge, better than both by a mile but only when fit and having self-confidence in his body not to let him down.

Personally, except when I'm playing Champ Manager, I've decided to stop sweating about fees. As Ed002 has said repeatedly, the murky world of football finance is more twisty and turny than a 'twisty-turny thing'. So I'm concentrating on who would improve the team most.

On that basis, I would still take Lukaku over Ineacho. The former has much more EPL experience and has delivered goals year on year. The price differential is irrelevant, especially to Man Utd.

3.) 07 Jul 2017 11:40:30
My Chelsea mate is on prayers lol. He wants Lukaku to flop at UTD ha ha 😄.

Really like the look of the team today. A dominant midfield and three goalscoring forwards. c'mon the reds!

Im not sure why VVD is being painted as such a victim in all this. Liverpool have ballsed up royally but im sure van Dijk didn't slam the phone down on Jurgen and tell him to speak through the official channels at Southampton. Im sure he wasnt kidnapped and put on the plane to meet klopp. Seems to me the only victims in the whole scenario are Southampton.
Liverpool may have intiated illegal communications but (Ive been dying to say this for months) but I don't think Virgil van Dijk is a saint. He may not have violated the rules in the same way that LFC transparently have but he iis partly to blame for the situation he now finds himself in.

Whether he stays or goes, Coutinho is a 50 percenter for me.
On his day he is superb and capable of scoring match-winning goals from outrageous angles and distances. He can thread a pass or dribble through a packed defence. He was our top scorer last year and on his day he is irreplaceable.
Problem is, that doesn't happen week in, week out. There are matches where he goes into his shell or gets man-marked into a silent display.
I don't feel like we are about to lose a player of the calibre of Torres or Suarez. We will miss Coutinho in certain games, for sure, but 100m quid for someone who isn't a consistent, high-level performer? That amount of dosh for a player that can only occasionally be described as world-class? Take the wad of green and run straight to Leipzig imo.

Add to that, their penalty should have been a yellow card for simulation for Gnabny. He looked like he stepped on a landmine once Lovren had been nutmegged.

Spot on, mikey. Before the Watford game people were sayying Migs should be first choice after his end-of-season form. One tepid performance later and the knives are being sharpened and Ward is apparently the greatest keeper in England.
