Hi Eds, I know you're probably sick of hearing about him but I'm seeing Joyce say Zubimendi's new contract with Sociedad are "proving problematic" could there be any chance that Liverpool go for him again if the nee contract doesn't happen? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}
1.) 14 Aug 2024 13:52:29
I’d like to think we moved on to another target. Seems a bit of a flake if you ask me.
2.) 14 Aug 2024 15:21:33
Joyce AKA God has spoken.
the decision is final. turn it in, lads.
3.) 14 Aug 2024 15:45:12
Oh how I miss RTFP?.
4.) 14 Aug 2024 16:30:57
I read he rejected us because his wife didn’t want to move. Don’t see that changing.
5.) 14 Aug 2024 20:20:38
This one’s over, mate. Let’s all move on.
6.) 14 Aug 2024 21:22:57
Sorry Ed when you see RTFP do you mean the post where you mention in your opinion if the two criteria’s are met a deal can still be done? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Largely I am sick of the matter. I explained the two driteriea and Joyce has from what I can gather has said something else. I cant really help you beyond what I know - maybe he and the many others Liverpoo have a deal with will join.}
7.) 15 Aug 2024 01:39:25
Barry, if you would RTFP you wouldn’t have missed “RTFP”
Thanks Ed002.

Hi Eds, sorry if this is a bit random but I see Japanese RB Yukinari Sugawara has all but joined Southampton for €7m. I thought he was a decent player in the little time I saw of him and for that price they can't really go wrong. Were Liverpool ever interested in him?
{Ed002's Note - There was interest from others but not Liverpool.}
1.) 10 Jul 2024 11:56:49
1 Thing we don't need is Right Backs.
2.) 10 Jul 2024 12:35:23
Or right footed left wingers.
3.) 10 Jul 2024 13:53:11
Yeah, but if we corner the market in both RBs and right footed left wingers, it means no one else can have them!
4.) 10 Jul 2024 14:09:42
Is Nella Gareth Southgate in disguise? He loves a right back too.
01 Jul 2024 11:45:40
Hi Eds, I know you went over it early last month but have their been any updates regarding a RW to succeed/ replace Salah or even just a backup to take some of the load off Salah for next season? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Obviously if Salah stays there will need to be someone to play, possibly during the Olymics, and certainly during AFCON. I am not aware of any changes just yet.}
1.) 01 Jul 2024 13:36:25
Didnt AFCON get put back a year to 2026 or something?
{Ed002's Note - Indeed it did - I forgot.}
16 Jun 2024 12:37:26
Hi Eds, seeing a report that Liverpool have made contact to sign Waldemar Anton of Stuttgart. I've never heard of the guy is he any good or is there even any truth to it? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Waldemar Anton (CB) Signed a new contract in January to fend off the interest of Borussia Dortmund. Bayer Leverkusen have him as a target to replenish their defence which is attracting a lot of interest but with Hiroki Ito departing and both Rouault & Stergiou returning to their clubs Stuttgart will not look to sell their captain Anton. I am not aware of any approach to Stuttgart by Liverpool at this time.}
1.) 16 Jun 2024 12:58:19
Thanks, I appreciate it as always.
2.) 16 Jun 2024 17:47:11
VDB is a decent bargaining chip.
3.) 16 Jun 2024 18:51:40
Wouldn’t make much sense as a signing, he’ll be 28 in July so he’s getting on a bit, and the only reason to sign a player that old is if they’re exceptional, which he isn’t. He looks a bit one paced and not entirely the most mobile player in the world.
{Ed025's Note - getting on a bit at 28?. i thought that was when a player was nearing his peak VV, that must make me a neolithic artifact mate.. :)
4.) 16 Jun 2024 22:32:35
Correct on both accounts Ed ;)
{Ed025's Note - thanks for that SG.. :)
5.) 17 Jun 2024 06:04:20
Signing someone at 28 years old can make perfect sense with the right player. They’re at their peak and will likely be for 4 years which is plenty of time to get your value out of them.
6.) 17 Jun 2024 10:19:56
if we had the chance to sign Messi at the ripe old age of 28.:D
I have no idea who this guy is but as others have said, it really depends on the player and their own development pathway. Could be the experienced leader we need to add to the squad etc.
7.) 17 Jun 2024 22:53:44
Absolutely. Depends on the player. We signed both Milner and Thiago at age 29.
8.) 18 Jun 2024 18:29:20
If 27 is now too old to sign a player because they don’t have resale value then that’s a hell of a loser mentality to have. Surely we want to have players in their primes?
Madrid have been the most successful team in Europe the last decade and they’ve kept the likes of Rudiger, Nacho, Ramos, Ronaldo, Kroos, Modric and Benzema into their 30’s.
It varies player to player and I think the trick is knowing when certain players are going to peak or dip. You can’t put a blanket age restriction on it.
9.) 19 Jun 2024 09:45:03
Stuttgart are a high pressing high tempo team, so maybe the link isn’t as outlandish as it seems, I know nothing about the player though, from all appearances he seems quite decent.
10.) 19 Jun 2024 13:26:16
See your point mk but Liverpool aren't madrid. We have very limited salary space so we can't really spend it unwisely by giving longer contracts to players with diminishing usefulness. Madrid can afford to that because of the absolutely enormous commercial income they have.
We have to be more careful. Let's not forget that giving extended contracts to hendo, milner and fabinho stopped us from replenishing midfield and it was only after we knew they were going could we seek replacements.
Contract obligations are the single biggest expenditure in football.
11.) 19 Jun 2024 21:04:17
You are in your prime from 27 - 30, as Ed25 said so this player at 28 should be approaching or in his peak already.
05 Jun 2024 11:05:47
Sorry if this has been asked a lot but if Kelleher is to leave, are there any keepers Liverpool are interested in? I saw we were linked with Bijlow at Feyenoord, but is there any others the club are interested in or would the just promote one of the younger keepers at the club. Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Adrien has been offered a new contract and Jaros has had a good period on loan. The club will also fear an offer from Michael Emanalo for Alisson. I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool for Bijlow but they have looked at:
Anthony Patterson (G) Arsenal and Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the Sunderland player.
Ron-Thorben Hoffmann (G) After turning down a proposal from Liverpool, where his agent has strong ties, to join as a second or third choice goalkeeper, the player decided to leave Budesliga 2 side Eintracht Braunschweig as a Free Agent and join Schalke.
Alex McCarthy (G) Out of contract at Southampton in the summer and accepts he will not be first choice any longer. Bournemouth, Newcastle and Liverpool have all considered him, with Liverpool having prior interest and likely needing two goalkeepers this summer - unless they opt to promote Vitezslav Jaros, then they only need a third choice.
Filip Jorgensen (G) Villareal are stll struggling financially and will sell at the right price. Manchester City and Liverpool are searching for a number 2 goalkeeper and have both sent scouts. Down the list for Chelsea. Seems an odd choice.}
1.) 05 Jun 2024 11:51:38
Appreciate ya.
2.) 05 Jun 2024 11:51:38

3.) 05 Jun 2024 12:15:13
If Alisson was to leave, would Giorgi Mamardashvili be an option?
I read he may move this summer with Newcastle among those interested.
Do you think he would be a good fit for the way we play or is there someone else, we should be tracking.
I'm sure the scouting team have a list of possible options, contingency plans.
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest in Mamardashvili and the release clause is putting off those who are interested. Kobel would likely be a good fit.}
4.) 05 Jun 2024 13:23:22
Jaros and Adrian enough cover.
5.) 05 Jun 2024 14:08:51
There is no chance Allison will go to Saudi.
{Ed002's Note - Would you rather I did not tell you when there is interest?}
6.) 05 Jun 2024 15:18:10
Thank you Ed002, I will take a look at Kobel.
Do you think he would be obtainable? I believe Dortmund will have some meaningful squad adjustments this summer. Perhaps they will need to raise some funds.
{Ed002's Note - Two clubs who enquired were told no.}
7.) 05 Jun 2024 21:48:04
In the same way that there was no way Hendo would ever go to Saudi @Mark?
8.) 06 Jun 2024 06:05:40
When Hendo was offered the Saudi wage his head turned quicker than the girl of the excorcist.
9.) 06 Jun 2024 07:33:42
In fairness Henderson was likely told that he would not be an automatic starter so he either accepted a bit part as a bench warmer or could accept the move as the club had accepted the offer.
There is absolutely no way the same would happen with Allison as he’s still one of the best, if not the best, keepers playing in Europe, I think maybe only Oblak is better and that is fine margins. It would have to be an absolutely insane offer that broke the world transfer record to even make it a discussion.
10.) 06 Jun 2024 07:34:01
Of course not ed. We all appreciate the info, I am just giving my opinion, I just couldn’t see anyway he goes to Saudi.
11.) 06 Jun 2024 18:34:27
If Allison goes Kelleher becomes no 1. He wants to leave for first team football. We offer him that he stays.
16 Jun 2024 12:58:19
Thanks, I appreciate it as always.
05 Jun 2024 11:51:38
Appreciate ya.

07 Jan 2022 19:35:30
Well to be fair we don't have many players to sell.
11 Nov 2017 18:34:43
And who would that be?
{Ed002's Note - Spurs. This has been covered over and over - use the search function.}
