Agreed, Jay, I feel sorry for example Rio, the boy got put out on RW against Newcastle n had a quite game. Seen clips of that lad Camara, not saying he was the solution but he defo was different profile to the players we have. He looks as if he knows what tackling is. Maybe our players are playing football from the future where u can't touch the opponent. The CDM of Fabinhio era don't exist. I've heard many here say we need a Cam, a destroyer. Name me 3 players of such profile who aren't already at a top club and are available? Who ever we get will not be a superstar, and that itself is a problem as fans will then moan about him not being a household name.

I'm sure those dedicated knew, but how many of us had heard about Fabinhio when we signed him? How many had seen Bobby play? Sometimes you got to trust the board, but right now they are making it hard for the fans. How can we have lost 6 first team players over last 2 years plus alot of fringe players n have only got in 2 players.

My take on our first Anfield match of the season.
Slow start but seeing an improvement in effort and grit, most notably VVD.

Isak is still lacklustre but seeing an improvement as he's receiving service as the game went on.

Wirtz looks more involved and an improved urgency level.

Macca might be lacking in height and quality but he does provide some sense of stability.

Munoz needs more time as he gets up to grips with PL intensity and dubious ref calls. Welcome to the Premier League. Great goal.

Gakpo looks the only assured player. Makes things happen. Another game at RW and his crosses will be sublime. Imperative to hold on to him until January.

Szobo should really start playing RB. His crosses there is good. So much better than Frimpong.

At least until Bradley comes back.

Kerkez needs to shed a few pounds and more composed. I think he will come good but right now, not good enough.

VVD did much better this game. Jacquet had lapse of judgement and not fit enough to play 90.

Araujo is just what we needed at the moment. No nonsense. Was hoping for him to score and smile.

Alisson is slowly phasing out. Next home game should put Woodman instead.

Nyoni's passes are good but needs to bulk up. Easily bullied. Tsimikas to be sold and Chambers should start getting minutes.

Grav is a maverick. Some games he's good, today he's the opposite. Didn't function and Nyoni was better.

Draws should turn to wins after this, with additions. Barcola and Camara is much needed. Possibly another RW as well.

It was actually AI, but that's before the utter garbage he has seen from Frimpong and no incomings - think Dom at RB worked this afternoon, but it's obvious we need someone else in there. I can see the system coming, it's just being let down by the quality of the players playing it at the moment. Until a replacement is brought in or Bradley gets fit, I think Dom probably should play there, need more in midfield, which he isn't offering, and I don't see him as a 10 - maybe on the RW, but Cody and Munoz did alright there today.

Obvious we need a busy couple of days, but I just don't see it, unfortunately it's going to land on AI or Wirtz/Isak but I don't think it should do.

I agree ed. What worries me is the lack of leaders. All I see his supposed aura and banter not hard work. a lot of those players are out of their depth.

Slot was left a PL-winning team. AI has been left with a mess to sort out. 18 games now unbeaten in the PL suggests to me he knows what he's doing. KTF.

It was more that I don't think we will bring in a RB so he would have to play there until Bradley was "fit" consistently fit to play.

Reservations about the midfield have been well-documented, but I would argue that Liverpool's greatest problem are the fullbacks, namely Kerkez and Frimpong. Those two are simply not at the required level. A long season awaits if there isn't some movement in that department.

Fully agree with this observation. Kerkez is really bad. Frimpong has a bit more threat to be fair to him, he was unlucky today not to get an assist for Wirtz. But a pair of full backs like Robbo and TAA would really unlock this team.

Yet again our Captain seems to get a pass, he's been bad plus he's unsettling everyone else with his dropping off and blaming everyone, hate to be Kerkez getting that sh*t from a currently hopeless VVD. Should start with the captain on the pitch, if he's blaming and ineffective then maybe its time he spends some time on the bench.

So it’s pretty evident that this is going to take some time to get up and running under AI style of play so we are going to need some patience as painful as it is. Probably going to need a mindset adjustment accept that this isn't a title pushing season and as such results won’t be as consistent as we would like, with that in mind I’m choosing to take some positives from today’s game.

Isak- didn’t get the ball half as much as he should have been found but took his opportunity and got his goal, looked fit as well and completed his 2nd full game for us.

Wirtz- space was at a premium but saw him make far more runs into the box, unlucky with the offside goal, keeper made a great save from the header and also but for a last second tackle from Williams would have had a tap in- not perfect but defenitely more of a threat.



JJ- solid in possession, forming a good partnership with Virg, a number of good blocks in 1st half.

Munoz- much better on the RW, big threat and took his goal well. Very busy player, tracks back well and adjusted to the league quickly.

Overall it was positive to see our midfield making a few more tactile fouls, bit more balance with Macca and Szob but certainly still a concern.

Can’t overlook the fact that our supply into the box was p**s poor again and is starving our attackers in particular on the right but the less said about that the better.

Didn't get to see the match apart from the last 5/10 mins, listening to commentary and stats shown it seemed that Isak was none existent yet again apart from his goal which if true is a worry, was this the case and who else was poor and a concern and who were our best performers on the day. I know there is only a few days left in the window but will this result enforce the need for more quality additions or was the result down to us being poor again or forest being very good, interested to know eds and reds opinions.My son just said that munoz was outstanding today delighted for the kid could be an absolute gem of a player for us this season could really do with a few more like him.

Same problems as under Slot. 2 fullbacks who can't tackle or defend. Too many square passes in midfield. Too many wrong decisions when attempting to pass the ball. Almost zero passes to Isak in the box. Rash penalty given away by Allison, because too often left one to one with their forward.


Positives, world class save by Allison, Wirtz worked much harder, Munoz played very well, as did Gakpo for an hour. Subs made a big difference.

I didn't realise Isak's general play was quite so poor. If he is going to be an effective poacher for us, we need much better delivery from full backs. Neco Williams would be such a useful player for us.

It was like a sales pitch from Stevie G with Williams at the start of the game. Then mentioned again after the game. Wouldn't say no at all can cover both both is definitely coming in first choice at RB now.

Frimpong was so poor this afternoon. And needs moving on.

Easy to say now but Trent, Williams and Morton improve and fit our system massively than some of the players out there today.
